& they say we don't have global climate issues #heatwave2016
I saw you performing today, and it's really cool to see another genderfluid person in public, also you have a really nice voice
đ you're so sweet!! Yay genderfluid sightings!!!! Hope to see you again sometimeđ
sometimes self-care means listening to sad music & letting yourself feel everything your heart can't say
cishet whiteboydude tried arguing with me about proper grammar & singular they last night. every time he said something I would just stare at him until he fumbled for another thing to say. finally I pointed out situations we already use singular they, its recent selection as word of the year, how it's becoming more common in notoriety, and its definition in the OED. he tried making the same two points again. I stared. he fumbled. I stared. it got awkward for him. very quickly. yeah I definitely won.
Someone pls come pause Netflix I don't have the strength to do it myself
literally every time an anti-trans bathroom law passes, bearded trans bros take it upon themselves to start viral campaigns w pics of themselves saying ânow my BEARDED MAN-LOOKING self will share a bathroom with your WIVES AND DAUGHTERSâ as if that isnât exactly the kind of cissexist fearmongering that gets trans women killed and causes these laws to get passed in the first place
Forever my favorite scene.
Incoming!!! It's a rant!
So many people ask, "So what does that mean you're interested in?" when they find out I'm genderfluid. Let me make one thing abundantly clear: Gender and sexual orientation are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. To assume that a person's gender has any influence on their romantic or sexual interests is outdated, simple-minded, and, quite frankly, very problematic. Why do people only seem to care about it AFTER learning learning I'm genderfluid? Nobody ever asked me what I was into when they thought I was cisgender, but now suddenly it's this thing they MUST know in order to... what? Why should it be an issue or affect your life? If you're interested in me & you're trying to find out whether I might return that interest, just fucking ask me. Be an adult. I will tell you very openly whether or not I like you. If you're not interested, what purpose could you possibly have in asking? Regardless of gender, my sexual preference is none of your damn business. And I don't see how it remotely affects our connection as humans, except that I get to learn you're an idiot who places way too much importance on suddenly knowing my personal affairs.
The story behind this quote from Jennifer D'eath of Seabrook, TX is .. well.. âPumpkin Awesomeâ:
My son Liam had a really hard time pronouncing the word âpumpkinâ when he was a tike - instead it sounded like âF*&@%nââ - his dad and I thought it was hilarious It has now become our go-to phrase to exalt our three boysâ achievements.
All the reasons I don't miss retail.
my career plan is to befriend an eccentric elderly billionaire who tries to relive their youth through me by supporting me financially, naming me in their will and moving me into the guest house of their mansion so that we can drink whiskey in the orchard whilst they give me important life advice
I mean, I'm down.
What is Gaslighting?
Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse where the abuser manipulates situations repeatedly to trick the victim into distrusting his or her own memory and perceptions. Gaslighting is an insidious form of abuse. It makes victims question the very instincts that they have counted on their whole lives, making them unsure of anything. Gaslighting makes it very likely that victims will believe whatever their abusers tell them regardless as to their own experience of the situation. Gaslighting often precedes other types of emotional and physical abuse because the victim of gaslighting is more likely to remain in other abusive situations as well.
The term âgaslightingâ comes from the 1938 British play âGas Lightâ wherein a husband attempts to drive his wife crazy using a variety of tricks causing her to question her own perceptions and sanity. Gas Light was made into a movie both in 1940 and 1944.
Gaslighting Techniques and Examples
There are numerous gaslighting techniques which can make gaslighting more difficult to identify. Gaslighting techniques are used to hide truths that the abuser doesnât want the victim to realize. Gaslighting abuse can be perpetrated by either women or men.
âWithholdingâ is one gaslighting technique where the abuser feigns a lack of understanding, refuses to listen and declines sharing his emotions. Gaslighting examples of this would be:
âIâm not listening to that crap again tonight.â
âYouâre just trying to confuse me.â
Another gaslighting technique is âcountering,â where an abuser will vehemently call into question a victimâs memory in spite of the victim having remembered things correctly.
âThink about when you didnât remember things correctly last time.â
âYou thought that last time and you were wrong.â
These techniques throw the victim off the intended subject matter and make them question their own motivations and perceptions rather than the issue at hand.
It is then that the abuser will start to question the experiences, thoughts and opinions more globally through statements said in anger like:
âYou see everything in the most negative way.â
âWell you obviously never believed in me then.â
âYou have an overactive imagination.â
âBlockingâ and âdivertingâ are gaslighting techniques whereby the abuser again changes the conversation from the subject matter to questioning the victimâs thoughts and controlling the conversation. Gaslighting examples of this include:
âIâm not going through that again.â
âWhere did you get a crazy idea like that?â
âQuit bitching.â
âYouâre hurting me on purpose.â
âTrivializingâ is another way of gaslighting. It involves making the victim believe his or her thoughts or needs arenât important, such as:
âYouâre going to let something like that come between us?â
Abusive âforgettingâ and âdenialâ can also be forms of gaslighting. In this technique, the abuser pretends to forget things that have really occurred; the abuser may also deny things like promises that have been made that are important to the victim. An abuser might say,
âWhat are you talking about?â
âI donât have to take this.â
âYouâre making that up.â
Some gaslighters will then mock the victim for their âwrongdoingsâ and âmisperceptions.â
Gaslighting Psychology
The gaslighting techniques are used in conjunction to try to make the victim doubt their own thoughts, memories and actions. Soon the victim is scared to bring up any topic at all for fear they are âwrongâ about it or donât remember the situation correctly.
The worst gaslighters will even create situations that allow for the usage of gaslighting techniques. An example of this is taking the victimâs keys from the place where they are always left, making the victim think she has misplaced them. Then âhelpingâ the victim with her âbad memoryâ find the keys.
Are You a Victim of Gaslighting Emotional Abuse?
According to author and psychoanalyst Robin Stern, Ph.D., the signs of being a victim of gaslighting emotional abuse include:
You are constantly second-guessing yourself.
You ask yourself, âAm I too sensitive?â a dozen times a day.
You often feel confused and even crazy at work.
Youâre always apologizing to your mother, father, boyfriend, boss.
You canât understand why, with so many apparently good things in your life, you arenât happier.
You frequently make excuses for your partnerâs behavior to friends and family.
You find yourself withholding information from friends and family so you donât have to explain or make excuses.
You know something is terribly wrong, but you can never quite express what it is, even to yourself.
You start lying to avoid the put downs and reality twists.
You have trouble making simple decisions.
You have the sense that you used to be a very different person - more confident, more fun-loving, more relaxed.
You feel hopeless and joyless.
You feel as though you canât do anything right.
You wonder if you are a âgood enoughâ girlfriend/wife/employee/ friend; daughter.
You find yourself withholding information from friends and family so you donât have to explain or make excuses.
This is important
Repost the f out of this.
