“Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become Real. [...] Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out, and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real, you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.” This is Puffball! I got him when I was around 5. An employee was cleaning out a claw machine and gave him to me. He used to be all the way pink, haha. He played in the sandbox with me, took baths with me, and came on adventures. He’s wearing a friendship bracelet that I made, and I used to wear the matching one. He’s one of the only stuffed animals I kept when I got older.
This is Mary Moo! She’s a Ty Pluffies Grazer Cow from 2002 and I’ve had her since I was two years old. I named her around when I was five, and I actually got her name from that cartoon, Arthur. I remembered watching an episode centralized about D.W.’s favorite show, and the main star of said show was named ‘Mary Moo’ and featured a purple cow. And after I named her, I started carrying her with me practically everywhere when I was younger, but I ended up losing her a lot because of this. We were always reunited in the end but sometimes, it felt like I’d never see her again and I’d become so depressed over losing her, so for the past eight years or so she’s been underneath my pillow. Safe & sound! And I’ve been contemplating on buying another cow that’s just like her and name her either Jane or Anne, so that I can carry her around with me, but I’m not sure yet. I’m not replacing Mary or anything, but I just wouldn’t be able to handle it if I lost her after all this time.
this is Bear. i’ve had him since i was 2, so for about 18 years. we got him at Costco, he was in a 3 pack, there was a puppy and lion but i chose him and my brother got the puppy and our friend got the lion. i didnt have any friends growing up and he was always there for me no matter what and still is. his left side is a bit squished because i sleep on him every night. this blog makes my heart happy because i love my comfort stuffed animals with my whole heart and have a hard time sleeping without them, especially if someone invites me over. in those cases i wont wanna bring him because other people my age might make fun of me for it but ill probably sneak him in my backpack or something in case i feel anxious. so thank you for this blog, its so comforting to know im not alone.
This is Carrot Guy and Strawberry Dude! I've had them for about a year now and they bring me a lot of comfort and security. They're the only stuffies I have anymore but they've helped me through alot of stuff.
This is Bear, he's my best friend and I've had him since I was a baby! He used to belong to my grandmother, he's 31 years old if the tag is any indication!
these are my buddies! on the left is teddy, and eli on the right! eli was a gift from my parents on the day i was born, so they're exactly as old as i am!! i got teddy when my dad took me to a build a bear when i was probably seven or eight. hes been with me longer than my dad has, lmao!! i love them both so much! this photo was taken in my dorm room so all my fellow uni freshman: we're not too old for stuffed friends!!!
This is Little Dory, a Disney Tsum Tsum! I got her around two years ago when the movie Finding Dory was released. Dory has always been my favorite Pixar character, and I was attached to her the moment I got her. I have several other plushies that I would also consider comfort items, but for two years, Little Dory has been my main one. She’s absolutely perfect for taking everywhere in my pocket, and it’s so calming for me to stim by rubbing my thumb over her embroidered eyes, mouth and freckles. I also sleep with her tightly clutched in my hand. :) I tend to struggle with depression, anxiety, sensory issues, and feel lonely a lot of the time, so Little Dory is a great friend to me, as well. I even have six or seven backup Dory Tsums in case anything ever happens to Little Dory, but this is the one I’m really attached to. I take really good care of her tho (and I think she agrees) so I’m not too worried about her going anywhere. :)
A very grumpy boye!! This is (Mr.) Snowflake! I've had him since I was born, along with the blanked he's on top of. He's lost alot of stuffing (His neck is so limp lol) so he mostly lays down. I can barely sleep unless I'm with him,, (Btw he has fur around his eyes so I moved it out of the way for the first pic) @jenna-is-short
This is Kitty, my aptly named tabby I got from build-a-bear 15 years ago. I used to have a rotating cast of stuffed animals I would sleep with as a kid, but I had Kitty with me every I still sleep with her every night, having decided at a very young age that I couldn’t care less what people thought of her. Also she provides good support for my bad shoulder. I recently revisited build-a-bear to get Kitty some new clothes, as she will be accompanying me to college, and I want her to look her best!
this is snowball! shes a persian webkinz that ive owned for over 11 years. shes been with me through so much and i consider her the mascot of my childhood
This is my bunny honey pie or honey for short. I got her almost a year ago when I went on vacation and on the last day I’ve self harmed. She’s helped me through so much and never fails to calm me down or just be a friend to cry on. The fabric she’s made out of is really nice and my favorite thing to touch (I found two blankets made out of the same material too). Although she’s already been worn down from cuddles she’s still so special to me and brings me so much comfort!
This is Cychu!!!! I’ve only had him for a couple of months but I love him a lot and I cuddle with him every night...... the character he’s based on, Cyrus, is a big comfort character so Cychu means a lot to me :’)
From left to right, these are Brownie, Ted, Pinkie, and Spooks. Brownie was my mom's when she was a kid, and he was passed down to me when I was about six. He hangs out in my closet because he's too fragile to sleep with (he's missing an eye and his nose) but I love him all the same. Ted was my dad's when he was a kid, and I've had him since I was born. My dad lives in another state with his new family and I miss him a lot, so it's nice to have Ted there with me. Pinkie was a Christmas gift from my dad a few years back. He knows that I LOVE penguins, so when I went to visit him for Christmas in Colorado, I got Pinkie as one of my gifts. I haven't seen my dad for over a year because of reasons regarding the way his new wife treats me (terribly), so it's comforting to have Pinkie (and Ted) when I really miss him. I won Spooks when I was in 4th grade, and he really means a lot to me. Basically, the best 5 students in the class (grades wise) got to come to the front on the last day of school and get a Beanie Baby from the teacher's collection, and I got Spooks! I don't sleep with him (he's too small) but he's always there to spook away the nightmares. Not pictured here (because I couldn't find him) is Morris. He's a white bear with a pink bowtie, and he was a gift from my mom's ex-boyfriend. He's perfect hugging size and does a perfect flip if you throw him in the air. Also not pictured (because I lost him, sadly) is Fluffy the bunny. I got Fluffy for Easter when I was 3 years old, and lost him when I was about 11. I remember not being able to sleep without him, and it was a huge hit when I lost him. You could really tell how old he was, but I loved him all the same. I miss him. (Holy crap this was long. I'm so sorry)
I have a lot of comfort friends but I sleep with these two every night. The kitty is named Tiny and I have had her since I was four. She only has one eye now and is very well loved and worn. The octopus is named Mochi and my best friend gave them to me when I was released from a psychiatric hospital so they have helped get me through a lot of bad times. 🐱🐙
This is little buddy or lil buddy. He's a light up lamp that you can tap to turn on and off. His tap sequence goes like this: the first tap turns him on, the second tap makes him change colors the cycle through the rainbow, and the third turns him off. He also comes with a remote where it has more color, brightness, and color changing patterns and even a timer! I can also squish him and he inflates again! I got him as a birthday gift from my dad. He's a really great nightlight and is just soothing to look at in general. I gotta take a wash cloth to him soon and give him a bath though. Dirty boy. I have chronic nightmares so when I have a nightmare that really really bothers me he helps me go to sleep when I'm too scared to fall asleep. It feels like he's just there to watch over me n reassure me that hey it's ok I'm here. He is a good round cat lamp. I have a lot of comfort items.
From left to right: Scutterbotch (bear), Junie (rabbit), Molly (dog), General Batson (bat), Daisy (dog), Moocow (cow) and Birdfox (fox). It really is a lot, but they help me sleep, and help my position my limbs, as my physical disability makes it so I need to be positioned most of the time. Their ages range from a decade to 2 years. I worry that constantly collection had de-valued the connection, but I know I love them all very much, and vigorously. All join me eventually, but Scutterbotch has been the most common these days. He joins me for a lot of doctor visits, labs, and procedures. They're all very important, and some are getting a little tattered. But they're integral to my existence.
