So, as is probably clear, we don’t have enough to run a game with. However, if every person who requested an extension submits an application, we’ll hit our minimum, and the game can go on! So I ask that those with extensions please do your best to get them in! Best of luck to those still writing!

So! If you’re in the Hopefuls server you’ll know this, but my town is currently in a state of emergency due to a major ice storm, and I have no power (this is being posted using my phone’s data). No power means no computer, which means no updating the received applications page on the final day of apps! Very bad timing.

Just to ensure anyone who submits their application today knows I received it, I’m going to post and continue to update the full list of received apps on this post (at least until the power comes back on, which hopefully will happen by tomorrow). Please check under the readmore for the list! It will update with each application that comes through!

We’ve had a lot of new faces in the Hopefuls server, which is great news! To account for this and to give everyone more time in general, I’m going to extend applications until March 30th, 11:59pm EST!

This will be our final extension, sink or swim (with the exception of any personal extensions, which you can request if needed!), so please have your app in before then!

How old do i have to be to apply?

Technically there’s no age limit, but due to the subject matter present, I would recommend that you be at least 15 years of age!

I would recommend using the submission feature! If you’ve never used it before, just add /submit to the end of this blog’s URL and you’ll see where to submit your application.

Are supernatural elements allowed? For characters themselves (like species or talent), backstory, or potentially Ousama motivations/logistics?

The sole supernatural element present here is going to be the deceased students having their own (private!) blog to continue roleplaying with each other as ghosts.

That said- supernatural talents are a different story! The world of this game is very similar to our own, so supernatural elements are generally believed to not exist, thought there is debate. Talents like fortune tellers, magicians, spirit mediums, ETC are permitted as long as there’s an understanding that not everyone in-universe actually believes your character isn’t just a talented actor (or a hack at worst).

hiya there. i was wondering if you're fine with fictional cities featured in backstories and if so, how much do you need to know about it?

That would be okay! Yonakimura itself is a fictional village, after all. How much I need to know depends entirely on how important it is to your character’s story- include as little or as much detail as you feel you need! Just remember that we’re staying relatively grounded in reality here, so I don’t recommend making some utopian futuristic city; make sure it’s the sort of place that could feasibly exist in real life!

Yes! However, there always the possibility that one character may not make it in, so please make sure both OCs can stand on their own just in case!

What format will threads take? Will they be on Tumblr or Discord?

Both Tumblr threads and private Discord threads will be utilized during the game! Please note that the trials will occur exclusively through submitting Tumblr posts to this blog- no Discord there.

Are we allowed to change things in the backstory if we apply for Ousama, for the sake of motivation? (e.g. someone is alive in the regular backstory, but part of the Ousama motivation has that person be dead instead)
