Have been following the growth of this absolutely riveting and important pop rock poetry musical over the last 5 years! Every step of the way it breaks long-standing shibboleths keeping silent the voices of trans and queer Asians. The music is spell-binding, and every word so nuanced, capturing complex stories of cultural defiance, and finding community. They need our help NOW! It feels great to give.https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/881924267/interstate-the-musical-at-nymf-2018?ref=user_menu

Sapna Kumar
Sapna was featured at the Olivia Travel’s 40th Anniversary celebration in the Dominican Republic, with headliner Wanda Sykes. Sapna has been active in Chicago’s vibrant comedy and theater scene for a decade. She loves this city! Other credits include LOGO TV’s One Night Stand-Up 9 and as a regional finalist for NBC’s Last Comic Standing 4. Sapna also loves acting and has been in the independent feature films Promise Land (which was in the 2014 Sundance Film Festival) and Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together (which was in OUTFest), both shot in Chi-town. She also had the privilege of understudying Tony Kushner’s Homebody/Kabul at the Steppenwolf Theater. An Indian American girl with a Midwest heart (and unfortunately, appetite too), Sapna is delighted to have been embraced by the wonderful LGBTQ community in Chicago and by the local comedy club circuit.
Now pursuing her LaLa-land dreams living in Los Angeles, Sapna is delving into the landscape of film and television. This past year, she did a handful of short films, including the soon-to-be-released tale of fledgling feminist academic press, Sapphic Press, which Sapna wrote and produced. In 2013, she was voted one of the 50 Hottest Women in Comedy in 2013 by AfterEllen.com, and was on the Advocate.com’s list of top 15 Queer comics.

Don’t miss this remarkable profile on Rachel/Ben of The Kinsey Sicks, broadcast to 63 million listeners worldwide on the BBC radio news magazine Outlook. While Ben's delighted to be profiled, Rachel has her own unique perspective: “What good is it to be in a magazine if Stormy Daniels can't spank you with it?” she asked. Oh my. Oh Mya Taylor!!! Oh long-awaited QPOC community cultural artistry feat!!! After premiering at Outfest Fusion in Los Angeles earlier this month, Reina Gossett and Sasha Wortzel's "Happy Birthday Marsha!" will make its European premiere at the British Film Institute London LGBTQ+ Film Festival on March 22, 23, and 24, 2018. TWOC Mya Taylor is featured in timely feminist revenge fantasy series, "Dietland" starring Juliana Margulies, launching June 4. The 10-episode series from Marti Noxon (UnReal), Skydance TV and AMC Studio follows Plum Kettle (Nash), ghostwriter for the editor of one of New York’s hottest fashion magazines, as she struggles with self-image and sets out on a wildly complicated road to self-acceptance. At the same time, everyone is buzzing over news reports about men accused of sexual abuse and assault who are disappearing and meeting violent deaths. Based on Sarai Walker’s 2015 bestseller, the series will touch on such hot-button facing women as patriarchy, misogyny, rape culture and unrealistic beauty standards. To bring Mya Taylor to your campus or org to speak about her role playing a revolutionary TWOC radical feminist living in a collective in Park Slope, go to www.OUTmedia.org/contact.
