Does anyone know what this instrument is called? Its like a Marimba but it is very large and made out of huge stones. Listen to that tone! haha Love it!

Darren Harper / Wind Thru Glass
From the self-released Suspended Memory
Dusty drones, fractured textures, broken loops, and micro tones pulled forth from guitar, synthesizer, chimes, Tibetan singing bowls, kalimba, and field recordings.
Darren Harper has appeared in a number of mixes I’ve posted to this Tumblr, notably Ambientblog’s Invisible Ink, Harry Towell’s Marooned (Volume One), LowLight’s Thru the Field, Frequent Sync’s Garden Level 1, Muttley’s Ships Close to Port, J’écoute’s Whispers & Hums and most recently with Lattice from his Earth Mantra release Whispers.
« Darren Harper is an ambient and electronic musician hailing from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, in Nederland, Colorado, USA. Darren began his journey into electronica as a psychedelic trance and ambient producer early in the new millennium as half of the improvisational ambient noise duo Holomovement. He has released solo psytrance music on Ektoplazm Records, and has also participated in a collaborative ambient project called Frequent Sync, with fellow Earth Mantra artist Jacob Newman. — Last.fm Bio »

Low Light Mixes / Distant Transmissions
An ambient drift-and-dream mix by Dave Michuda
Distant transmissions flicker and fade, there’s a drift on the signal, a ghost in the phase.
This mix combines ambient music with recordings of shortwave broadcasts to create an otherworldly experience. Music drifts in & out with washes of white noise, snippets of lost conversations and ethereal drones.
« This mix, like the others, makes use of the wonderful shortwave recordings of Myke Weiskopf. Check out his blog here… for lots of streaming audio & downloadable goodies. I’ve done 5 mixes featuring Myke’s work & none of them would have been possible without his documentary series. Huge thanks to Myke for all his fine recordings. Check out the ShortWaveMusic Facebook page too. — Dave Michuda, Low Light Mixes »

Live sound performance in Cork Community Printshop Saturday April 26th 2015. Queef and special guests Mick O'Shea, Danny McCarthy, Katie O'Looney and Harry Moore. Photos courtesy of Exile
Cork print shop hosted us on sunday 26th of april a fine day and the sun had reappeared, making it fine and dandy, the drink lust got banished for an early bed throw some noise shapes, be well fit for the listening ear exhaustion afternoon. something to say about the relaxing with the buddies and creating with the buddies. amazing amazing.
some of the noise making instrument creations have my mind mangled with the how in the gods name did ya master that together. i tend to break things making noise just crushing up bits of plastic gives it a pretty spook effect I think on the recordings really industrial not quite sure what it is.
but I tell you what sometimes I don’t half feel silly smashing up videos of cartoons maybe my brain is trying to tell me something? but its all very child like battering things off other things, i will never be a musician much to my disappointment I have never put the effort in
it was really inspiring, so it was, gave me a drive to get the sound wall up and ready, so build is this summer 2015.
watch this space
3/25/15 A large version of Wet Ink Ensemble performed new and recent works for chamber orchestra by Columbia graduate composers at the Dimenna Concert Hall in Hell’s Kitchen. Interestingly all of the works used software processing (Max MSP) and surround sound in addition to the acoustic instruments. The works included “Convergence Lines” by Christopher Trapani, which had particulary effective multi channel effects worked into the composition; the solo piano piece “Metal Works – Part 1″ by Nina C. Young, which was performed by Kathleen Supove; Stylianos Dimou‘s “spasmodic frictions: “Aria Impulsiva”, V.2″ for eight instruments and electronics; the showstopping “K. tracing” by Ryan Pratt; Sky Macklay’s White/Waves and “Diptych: Irène’s lament-Auguste’s grief” by Ashkan Behzadi, which was accompanied by film.
You only got to check out the artists to know its a banging label.
seriously amazing!

“The University of Greenwich is hosting a two-day colloquium to explore noise as a concept that embraces the expressive, the idea of noise as a resistance and, through mutating repetition, a catalyst for creative production. From this perspective noise moves out of the solely auditory register into a multisensory realm of non- representational logic.”
