i really really like this... notte + euden and zena skill parallels
seimei telling yasu if he really wants to get married he should throw away his status as a wyrmclan leader and yasu isnt able to answer bc he knows he wont do it... sei "...that's what i thought."
i dont think either of them would be willing to throw their duty aside for the other... its nice this way (to me)
rikugo in particular is so.... much hes always putting the ox clan first whether its going to greet yoshitsune in sei's grandfather's stead so he can be by his daughter's side or requesting tsune's aid in seimei's journey ahead and eventually sacrificing himself to help seimei achieve his goals... aayughhghdh
i think in a way rikugo prob sees his "death" and sam's in the same way bc it really just is... returning to how it used to be... (the mana from seimei's grandfather being returned to him) except its not clear in what form he'd return in if seimei ever brings him back
like.. would he lose his memories? would he even be the same person w the same personality?? i have some personal hcs about it but in the end we dont know
i think this is basically the entire theme? of seimei's story... i like to think through kodoku seimei has the mana from all the bureau's onmyojis inside of him but bc one person cant handle it thats why it manifests as a curse thats eating away at him..
and technically the mana that made up rikugo is inside him too its like. "the people you love live on inside you" but in a more literal way and its like both a blessing and a curse to him...
getting into hc/theory but i think if rikugo was made up of mana of all the bureau's members then sei who beared the brunt of kodoku and took in rikugo's mana should have the same mana that it took to make him in the first place...
i like to think rikugo sacrificed himself while putting his trust in seimei to be able to bring him back... or something....
(about s.ieyasu story)
speaking of which that flashback scene is really nice actually i think it says a lot about yasu's personality... he loses to a senior on purpose most likely to avoid conflict and hurting his opponent's pride which is also the same thing he's doing with the shogun race..
shingen's story is.. nice ep2 shows that nobu and shingen are more the competitive type which also makes sense since theyre also kinda the only ones aiming for the shogun seat.. (disregarding the fact that shingen lied about that)
yasu disregarding the shogunal race to pursue peace instead makes sense in that way but its also strangely conceited bc you could interpret it as him thinking he would win if becoming shogun was actually his goal.. the yasu who said world domination is a side hustle lol
at this point idrc if im overanalyzing but i think yasu being portrayed as perfect implies he has other.. major issues. considering his convo w mari when they first met and his part in shingen's story i think even if he wants to be humble he tends to think hes above most things
the entire situation with him cutting off botan and refusing to try to understand her (prior to the event) bc he thought this was what was best for her is also another indication of this imo.. kinda has a tendency to believe only what he thinks is right/good
sounds harsh but i dont think hes actually a bad person hes just a normal guy with issues (unlike his perfect exterior) and i truly do think yasu took 3 years of random cameos and development to become an interesting character to me
very random but thinking about how in that flashback scene in s.yasu story with botan and yasu theyre shown with their actual sprites as opposed to drgl usually using basic child sprites with younger vers of chars (u can see this with chitose and ku hai)
and im def overthinking this over whats probably just an inconsistent decision but if that implies yasu was more of a teenager when his father died ill be so ??? bc in his og story he makes it sound like he was so young like refers to himself as a child/"quite young"
idk i just like the idea of yasu being forced into the role at a very young age which is why hes so conscious about acting like the "perfect" wyrmclan leader and hiding his true feelings. but then he also talks like he had a choice in the matter lmao whats the truth
wasnt seimei the only one who was forced into the role actually augh... everyone else talks about them choosing to become a wyrmclan leader but seimei just says that he was "next in line" so it was natural that he took the role
upset that we know practically nothing about nobunagas past/family situation other than idk her family not liking the fact that she hangs out with mitsu bc of their family history... i want to know how she became a wyrmclan leader
LIKE yeah i can kinda imagine how it happened esp considering shes the only one whos so adamant about becoming shogun but even yasu had like a few things to say about it and i like that it sounds like he chose to become a leader to pass on the love that his father gave him ...
I JUST want to know more about mitsu and daiko's rship bc mitsu says hes like family but unlike seimei and gozu you cant really see that from their actions nor do we know much about their past?? like daiko seems willing to do most anything for mitsu is he just a pushover or what
i think both sei and yasu have a tendency to not consider other options even if the path they chose isnt 100% comfortable for them (yasu shut his feelings out after cutting off botan and sei showed doubts about leaving kuzu behind when he dies)
and like while both of them change their minds after being shown they were wrong i dont think the magnitude of their decisions can compare hghdjsg reconnecting w a friend vs choosing not to die...
in shingens story both of their sections serve as epilogues for their events and its interesting that. yasu still hesitated in front of botan while sei completely accepted choosing to live despite the curse hurting him
what i mean to say is i think yasu is surprisingly.. more stubborn with sticking to his own ways like i know he does resolve things w botan by the end but i think if he had a bigger decision to make like seimei he wouldnt have been convinced...
im sry i like mitsuhide a lot but i think she has the least sexiest soulpact circumstances 🚶like i think its a mix of screentime being too focused on daiko+ebisu instead and also official not wanting to take mitsu too seriously which makes sense for her... but...!!!!
yasu says mari didnt take him seriously in the beginning but given their flashback scene i think theres a chance she thought his ambition was even greater than the bloodthirsty warmongers she was pactbound to before...
gozu pledging his life to seimei is so... nice bc in every other soulpact the giving of their lifespan (soul) is a one-sided thing but with them it felt mutual bc gozu intended to die with him... fudo possibly betraying her own pactbearer for shingen is so... so
i know fudo didnt get enough screentime/backstory at all but kinda nice to think about her actually being very capricious irt her pacts... like shes either 0 or 100 about her pactbearer
i went to recheck this scene bc iirc its the most explicit scene of a dragon breaking a pact but wah.. wah... the fact that the dragon risks their life for this is so much (i think as a greatwyrm mercury cant die but anyway
like just imagine ... fudo forcibly breaking her pact during the fight between shingen and his father... risking her life... wah
isnt it strange... mari talks like every single prev boar leader was power hungry etc but yasu has such a rosy view of his father... it could just be that he was too young to know anything...
in the end the only good previous gen wyrmclan leader was seimei's grandfather (
gozu and rikugo might know how to manage sei's temper but the fact that hes still grumpy... i feel like it means he was still spoiled...
like they might know how to make him calm down but he was never punished (?) for being that way.... after all lord seimei is lovable no matter what he does ffhdhggjd
i rly wish they showed sei yuki interaction even if it was just a one line flashback weh seimei teaching yuki about shikigami...
i feel like it wouldve gone smth like yuki seeing him use shikigami for the first time and is like
yukimura: WHOA could i learn to do something like that ?! seimei: i suppose there's no reason you couldn't, though it would take years of onmyoji training...
yukimura: oh! if i do that i won't be able to catch up to the general!! sorry seimei!! seimei: why are you apologizing to me after bringing it up yourself... (slightly pissed)
was thinking about how yasu has never won a proper fight against a character in canon like i think its mostly bc they keep inserting him into other stories centered around other chars so it doesnt make sense for him to win but i feel like it makes sense in-character too..
this part in s.ieyasu's story talks about how he held back in a sparring match due to seniority issues and also brings up that he can only do his best when it's for the sake of others... i like how he literally says "under orders from sazanka" here too
the other times we see him fight are a.yachiyo's story, fortune's fray (match against elisanne) and the mock battle against yukimura's army and he loses the first two while the last ended in a draw... like obviously none of these were fatal battles
but in each scenario the other character had more to lose from the battle than yasu and i think he was able to infer at least more or less what they were fighting for... and just like in the scene with botan in the dojo i think he lost on purpose
in a.yachiyo's story they fight over the duty of protecting the scroll/key but yachiyo (obviously) initiates the duel and the one who was opposed to the plan was sazanka, not yasu... i feel like he agreed to the fight bc he knew yachiyo wouldnt make a decision without a victory
fortune's fray its pretty obvious elly is fighting for the prize money for the orphanage (she says it mid-fight) and yasu has nothing to gain from winning... in fact even the reason he joined sounds like he was just figuratively dragged there by marishiten gkjajkbgh
and in yuki's story yasu is the one who requested the battle but the rumours that shingen mentioned could be? known to him as well and even if the entire match wasnt organized for that reason it wouldve looked a lot worse for yuki if she lost
in a way its amusing that its yasu who shows up in all these stories bc it didnt Have to be him but all 3 feel like "hmm whos a strong capable character who wouldnt mind losing" and now he looks like weak as hell but gjhbajkghkh yes i think botan is right and hes holding back
idk man he does say "i wont hold back" but it feels like weird mindplay into making his opponent feel fine with winning against him maybe im overanalyzing but i think shingen's story shows he has sides of him even he himself isnt fully aware of
in a way i think.. when yasu degrades himself in front of euden in his story calling himself selfish and greedy and that he cant blame mari for looking down on him it feels like he knows... that its going to get denied bc he seems genuinely surprised when shingen calls him prideful
shingen was trying to snap him to his senses by being aggressive about it and i think its nice that he seems to understand that this is the method that will work for yasu.. its why i think sei is a nice fit for him!!!!!!! will not hold back on what he sees as yasu's flaws
isnt it nice how shingen handles sei and yasu compared to other chars around them gjjkhk arguably everyone around them is too nice to actually slap some sense into them so shingen was the one who stepped up...
i would say the same for tsune -> sei... its partly her personality but i like that she doesnt fully try to convince sei to not kill himself despite promising rikugo + saying she wants to teach him what its like to be loved but she knows normal persuasion wont work w him...
yasu and mitsu's interaction in the latter's story kinda makes me feel insane like it shows... that yasu is not as straightforward as he seems and i think its unfortunate that their summer event was painted as mitsu using yasu in her schemes bc i think yasu can be just as cunning
honestly i find s.yasu's story kinda boring on a surface level but its interesting that they depicted him being tired of political parties and escaping bc i wouldve thought hes... the type to be too goody two shoes for smth like that
tldr yeah its totally canon that yasu would do pda . yeah he would totally skip out on an important meeting/party for personal desires too (wrong conclusion)
hopefully last thought for now but thinking about how yasu said soulpacts are "permitted" for the shogun and leaders only but mitsu says its tied to their bloodline so was there ever a case of someone in the wyrmclans forging a pact without permission (w another dragon??)
find it very amusing that nobu was the one who asked yasu why he wasnt being straightforward in mitsu's story while the other 2 are playing mind games and shes also the one who brings up the shogunal race in shingen's story
feel like shes the opposite of conflict avoidant and also just too reckless/straightforward herself 😭but like given that context im not even sure yasu was telling the truth abt not being interested in being shogun maybe he didnt want to ruin the party mood
very 🥺at the fact that sei was the one who tried to avoid the conversation in case of conflict fbahkfa im sure its just bc he has no interest in politics but it also feels like he just wants to be with his friends(?? loose term) and not feel like hes in a conference
