For my final project I used a video I made for my YouTube Channel. As I’m sure y’all know by know I’m obsessed with special effects makeup and this is of me doing a fake heart chest wound. I know i haven’t been the biggest participant since my husband came home on military leave but hey sometimes you have to roll with the punches in life. I’ve had so much fun in this class this semester and I can’t believe how many talented people I am surrounded by. I wish everyone the best, and thank you all for sharing your talent!

Reading #3

Personally, I don't really enjoy gifs. When they show up in my feed I typically scroll right past them. I guess for me I don't like how limited gifs are. One of the articles touched on how limited they are and I don't really find that very appealing. There are times that I will come across a gif I like but it's not very often because typically if there's a gif there's a video of almost the same of not exactly the same thing. I will say though that I does take a lot of skill and creativity to make them so I'm interested to see how I do with it for the coming project.

Artist Statement about my most Recent Post

-Artist Statement-

My work simply states Hip Hop, but if the viewer looks deeper into the images you understand it means more than that. Its the mind set of Hip Hop and creating art to represent Hip hop. This idea came to me after I was searching images on google and kept finding myself looking up high hop artists that I have grown to love. Then I started finding graffiti images and records and album covers that have changed my life. Then I started to think as if I was one of these artists and what goes on in their minds when they are creating their next piece of work. So you are viewing the image of a artist looking into another artists mind who is in the process of creating art when viewing these images. I would have to say that this is a representation of the start of hip hop in time to a current image of modern day hip hop as well. As for the images and double meanings behind the photos, it is up to the viewer to come up with their own sense of what these artists have experienced and formulate their own stories behind my images. Everything can be viewed in many different angels.

This is my third favorite project. I love how modern it is! It uses images we might already be familiar with and makes them brand new. It's really cool that you thought about it from another artist's point of view/mind set.

I decided on this concept before finding out that this isn’t a new one, but I wanted to still do it because I think each artist that creates the what I call “selfie through history” develops a new meaning. What I was thinking of while creating these works is, “how does the perception of these works of art change how we see the art?” Some call my/our generation the “selfie generation” so that’s the inspiration of this series of pictures. We view a lot of the world through our cameras/phones, and I think it’s interesting to think about how different history appears when seeing it as a selfie.
