 to  pretend  as  if  he  was  taking  her  home  would  have  only  further  emphasized  his  severely  lacking  manners  ,  he  reckoned  ,  so  mathias  elected  to  clue  her  in  about  half  way  through  their  drive  --  between  playing  obnoxiously  loud  music  with  a  deafening  bass  &  using  EVERY  remaining  shred  of  will  power  to  resist  the  urge  to  just  fucking  grab  her  already  --  that  their  final  destination  had  changed  .  what  started  as  an  act  of  chivalry  had  warped  into  something  else  entirely  ;  fitting  ,  honestly  ,  when  considering  whose  apathy  usually  wound  up  being  the  main  cause  of  most  ,  if  not  all  ,  major  consequences  .  upon  her  agreement  to  ,  in  fact  ,  go  home  with  him  instead  ,  the  overarching  anticipation  becomes  almost  too  harsh  to  WEATHER  ,  prickling  through  his  body  ,  sharp  ,  grating  pin  points  that  seemed  determine  to  poke  holes  in  his  resolve  &  restraint  ,  seeing  how  long  he  could  last  before  he  finally  gave  in  to  the  primal  part  that  was  scratching  at  the  surface  of  his  poorly  managed  self  -  control  .  but  at  last  ,  it  seems  his  wait  time  has  considerably  lessened  ,  mathias  turning  down  the  music  to  a  dull  roar  as  they  pull  off  the  street  &  into  a  private  drive  ,  one  that  directed  them  UNDERGROUND  ;  his  &  travis’  private  garage  was  the  only  real  entrance  to  their  home  ,  grand  security  measures  being  put  in  place  to  protect  the  twins  so  often  in  the  public  eye  .  for  the  whole  of  the  drive  ,  mathias  couldn’t  spare  the  glances  he  threw  her  way  ,  GREEDILY  drinking  in  the  details  of  her  appearance  ,  lingering  on  certain  favorites  like  way  her  full  lips  sat  in  a  permanently  soft  pout  ,  or  the  way  each  blink  seemed  weighed  down  by  the  length  of  long  lashes  .  obsession  ,  born  from  an  unmatched  need  --  ostensibly  worrying  ,  though  mathias  was  too  busy  enjoying  the  high  that  was  the  two  of  them  now  being  alone  .  the  purr  of  his  engine  is  suddenly  quiet  ,  mathias  cutting  the  keys  to  the  ignition  swiftly  ,  once  again  appearing  at  her  door  to  pull  it  open  for  her  .  the  stuffy  heat  of  the  summer  remained  outdoors  ,  the  cooling  system  installed  THANKFULLY  combating  the  warmth  he  feels  coursing  through  his  body  at  the  prospect  of  their  night’s  upcoming  extracurricular  activities  .

and  in  the  meantime  ,  she  sat  at  a  bar  ,  a  drink  already  to  be  had–  because  she  waited  on  no  one  ,  certainly  not  a  man  .  despite  the  green  in  his  eyes  ,  or  the  careful  intellect  that  counter  a  piqued  curiosity  ,  that  wavered  in  forms  of  like—  and  cautiousness  ,  she’d  have  her  drink  ,  maybe  two  ,  and  if  he  decided  to  join  her-  then  she’d  think  about  staying  for  three  .  the  sound  of  a  piano  ,  is  pierced  with  the  careful  fingertips  of  a  pianist  that  wasn’t  good  enough  for  an  oprah  house  ,  but  well  off  to  play  for  those  who  might  still  attend  one  .  and  he’ll  miss  a  key  ,  because  his  gaze  is  distracted  by  the  flutter  of  long  dark  lashes  ,  sipped  behind  crystal  martinis  .  with  it  ,  her  attention  had  dwindled  ,  only  to  be  masked  from  behind  when  a  seat  is  taken  to  her  right  .  a  smile  is  pursed  ,  dimpled  just  barely  ,  and  taunting  in  a  way  that  might  have  been  up  to  no  good  ,  if  you’d  allow  it  .  brows  are  arched  ,  and  her  chin  tilted  ,  waiting  for  him  to  order  ,  only  to  finally  speak  up  ,  when  addressed  .  “  what  do  you  think  ?  ”  a  double  edged  question  ,  as  her  gaze  still  rests  on  a  pianist  ,  who  painstakingly  crimson  cheeked  ,   tried  to  make  up  for  fumbling  fingertips  .  she  hadn’t  needed  to  ask  ,  she’d  already  had  glimpses  of  possible  answers  from  the  male  ,  without  so  much  as  tilting  him  a  gaze-  until  finally  ,  brown  irises  are  met  with  green   –  the  same  color  of  envy  ,  she  was  sure  .  but  rhysand  ,  would  no  be  envious  of  a  simple  piano  man  ,  when  he  couldn’t  hold  a  tune  in  a  room  of  lesser  attention  –  that  much  she  was  sure  of  .  

 TRAFFIC  .  the  very  bane  of  rhysand  attwood’s  existence  --  grating  against  his  patience  ,  wearing  it  paper  thin  as  his  slow  ,  treacherous  trek  across  the  city  was  even  further  delayed  by  ,  somehow  ,  more  cars  trying  to  merge  into  his  lane  .  his  arrival  to  the  east  coast  had  warranted  MANY  nuisances  ,  his  favored  routine  disrupted  by  the  abrupt  change  of  scenery  .  living  on  the  california  coasts  possessed  many  perks  ;  it  was  idyllic  ,  breezy  ,  &  there  ,  he  somehow  managed  to  drive  his  own  vehicle  without  wanting  to  commit  numerous  felony  acts  before  arriving  to  his  destination  .  there’s  a  part  of  him  that  LONGS  for  it  ,  the  past  something  that  he  didn’t  often  try  to  revisit  ;  his  mind  was  wrought  with  visions  of  people  &  places  that  he’d  rather  forget  .  something  that  had  been  easier  ,  ADMITTEDLY  ,  since  rhysand  had  become  acquainted  with  the  very  person  he  was  currently  on  the  way  to  meet  .  the  beautiful  male  not  privy  to  daydreams  ,  more  likely  to  be  the  one  STARRING  in  them  ,  to  experience  reverie  in  his  case  was  extremely  rare  ;  &  yet  still  ,  the  male  would  find  himself  caught  in  a  loop  of  the  same  recollection  featuring  a  sole  ,  STUNNING  brunette  .  amara  airaldi  was  someone  he  hadn’t  immediately  taken  notice  of  --  no  ,  at  first  glance  ,  rhysand  had  done  much  to  assure  his  gaze  didn’t  linger  .  tanned  ,  smooth  skin  ,  legs  lengthened  by  stilettos  ,  red  bottoms  that  alerted  him  of  expensive  taste  .  a  weakness  ,  one  he  had  been  known  to  fall  victim  to  more  than  once  .  girls  with  dark  hair  ,  soft  mouths  ,  PRETTY  smiles  that  promised  they  weren’t  as  nice  as  they  seemed  .  had  he  known  the  girl  was  a  poison  with  no  antidote  ,  the  usually  careful  male  would  have  done  better  than  to  offer  the  pale  column  of  his    neck  when  she  bared  her  perfect  teeth  .  but  it  seemed  like  a  shared  instinct  was  determined  to  have  them  cross  paths  ,  the  telling  CLICK  of  her  loubitouns  ,  admittedly  ,  drawing  him  to  his  doorway  ,  deep  timbre  rumbling  an  invitation  to  resolve  whatever  issue  that  was  responsible  for  bringing  her  to  his  agency  in  the  first  place  .  &  here  he  was  ,  unable  to  shake  the  addiction  that  had  him  coming  back  for  more  ,  rhysand’s  newest  vice  outside  of  his  control  ;  the  homme  a  slave  to  the  way  she  made  him  feel  .  someone  who  had  only  known  him  for  months  ,  able  to  have  him  BEGGING  quicker  than  any  practiced  torture  artist  ,  the  drag  of  her  tongue  the  very  catalyst  that  cracks  rhys’  flawless  ,  porcelain  composure  .

 a  voiceless  exchange  takes  place  between  him  &  the  valet  ,  a  neatly  -  folded  bill  slipping  easily  between  hands  as  rhysand  surrenders  the  keys  to  his  beloved  mercedes  .  the  summer  heat  is  UNFORGIVING  for  the  few  seconds  he’s  outside  ;  the  dust  of  purple  beneath  his  light  eyes  a  color  match  to  the  sky  ,  the  sun  having  set  just  minutes  before  leaving  a  artful  splattering  of  colors  against  the  city’s  towering  backdrop  .  every  step  cloaked  in  an  unmistakable  GRACE  ,  rhysand  attwood  finally  enters  the  hotel  bar  ,  attention  at  once  held  by  the  very  woman  he  had  intended  to  meet  .  lithe  movements  ,  met  with  an  unhurried  gait  ,  take  him  to  the  bar  ,  the  tall  male  folding  at  the  waist  to  sit  immediately  to  amara’s  right  .  however  ,  before  he  can  give  her  a  proper  greeting  ,  keen  ears  perk  at  an  ODD  sound  .  a  musical  note  that  doesn’t  quite  fit  with  the  others  of  the  melody  it’s  attempting  to  live  amidst  ,  it’s  telling  the  sloppy  composition  is  a  result  of  something  he  must  be  missing  .  viridian  irises  then  become  trained  on  the  pianist  ,  whom  ,  clearly  ,  has  enjoyed  the  more  than  pleasant  view  of  his  date  .  the  WARM  notes  of  amara’s  tone  redirecting  his  focus  back  to  her  ,  green  eyes  flickering  to  take  note  of  her  features  ,  the  primal  attraction  he  possessed  for  her  evident  in  the  way  he  carefully  angles  his  body  towards  hers  ,  the  span  of  his  long  legs  all  but  closing  her  in  ,  making  it  inconvenient  for  her  to  stand  &  leave  ,  or  for  to  ANYONE  to  approach  .  he  wanted  to  keep  her  right  here  in  front  of  him  ,  where  he  could  unabashedly  admire  every  feature  of  amara’s  timeless  countenance  .  ‘  i  believe  there  simply  isn’t  a  better  view  .  ’  lacking  his  usual  subtlety  ,  rhysand  elects  to  forgo  manners  to  place  a  possessive  hand  on  her  knee  .  the  size  of  his  palm  ,  the  length  of  his  fingers  ,    in  contrast  to  amara  was  obscene  --  the  width  of  it  spanning  almost  her  entire  thigh  ,  &  he  attempts  to  keep  his  thoughts  from  becoming  so  lewd  so  early  in  their  evening  .  not  like  he  was  planning  to  sleep  ,  anyway  .  another  mute  conversation  takes  place  between  him  &  the  bartender  ,  the  male  pointedly  gazing  in  the  direction  of  amara’s  martini  glass  ,  &  holding  up  two  fingers  to  communicate  they  wanted  more  drinks  .  a  nod  ,  as  thanks  ,  &  he’s  back  to  giving  the  girl  his  undivided  attention  .    ‘  i  see  you  decided  to  start  without  me  .  ’  his  hand  is  far  from  idle  where  it  rests  against  her  ,  his  fingertips  dangerously  close  to  a  fine  hem  .  ‘  did  you  have  a  long  day  ?  ’    he  inquires  ,  attempting  to  remain  casual  despite  the  building  arousal  called  forth  by  nothing  other  than  their  current  proximity  .
