Patrick did not like confrontation. He didn’t like having to ask someone why they took what they did from the coffee shop he worked at, but he knew that if he saw something, he had to follow through with it. So when the person told him nothing was broken, he couldn’t help but give her a incredulous look. “I…I s-s-saw y-y-you…” Great. he was really hoping he didn’t have to speak.
Crap, did she break him? “I mean, it’s just a cup, right? Not like there’s anything I can do to fix it.” Prude hoped the guy didn’t suggest she pay for it because that was a no-go. She flashed a little smile. “You’re doing a great job, though. Keep it up, bro,” she added, lightly punching the guy’s arm as she tried to scoot by.
Patrick knew what his boss would do. He would tell her to pay for it or to work for it. Patrick wasn't sure if he was assertive enough to do that. He really just wanted the entire situation to end. "I.....D-D-Do you h-h-have any m-money on y-y-you to p-pay for that?"
