"Do you think I’m totally irresponsible?”
“Not particularly. Why? What did you do?” Claude was busy washing dirty glasses from the previous night, stacking them up in the cupboard. “Besides, you’re a grown adult. I’d think you would be plenty responsible.”
Evidently, Franziska had been talking a bit louder than she thought- She hadn’t intended nor expected an answer to her question. “It’s not so much what I’ve done, as it is what I haven’t.” She groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose. “I’ll spare you my woes for now. No need to unload such a thing on a stranger, though I do appreciate your input.”
Claude shrugged. “Suit yourself–but I always thought it was easier to talk to strangers than to people I know.” He stopped washing the dishes for a moment, drumming his fingers on the countertop before pouting a small glass of wine. He set it down in front of Franziska. “Here, on the house. You look like you need it.”
"Hm. I guess you're right." She sighed. "But I'm sure you'd rather not listen to my ranting. Especially this kind. The heavy family issue kind of ranting- That's the worst to lay on a stranger." Franziska rested her head on the counter for a moment. She raised herself up, however, upon hearing the light 'clink' of a glass in front of her. "Oh." A pause. Her eyes flashed between the bartender and the wine. "...Thank you. You really didn't need to do that."
perlenketten:
“Well, I suppose it doesn’t really matter now, as you’ve already made yourself quite at home… in my home.” She continued, mumbling. “And it’s not my place to be kicking family out anyway.”
Franziska shrugged, taking a sip of tea. “I’m fine, thank you for asking. Everything has been running smoothly in the shop, so my job’s easy. A pause. ”…But tell me more about this trip you took. It sounds like it was dreadfully boring- I’m intrigued.“
Though he didn’t show it, Roderich was relieved that he wasn’t about to be kicked out for making himself comfortable without asking. He nodded as she spoke. “Hm, that’s good to hear, then.”
A tired sigh escaped him, and he adjusted his glasses slightly. “It was incredibly boring. Meetings all week, none of which I give a damn about. And yet my father is still intent on having me inherit the business so he can retire!” Roderich gave an exasperated groan. “I swear, it’s like he’s deaf to anything I say.”
"Well what's wrong with inheriting the business? I know how much you and your father disagree, but I feel like this could be a good opportunity for you!" Franziska shrugged. "After all, you'd be in charge of all these stuffy businessmen- And even the stuffy business." She raised her cup to her lips, continuing. "Perhaps you could turn this business into something better." She took a sip. "Something... profitable AND enjoyable."
"Do you think I’m totally irresponsible?”

perlenketten:
She let out one, very long, exasperated sigh. “Roderich. Dear cousin.” A pause. “Would you care to explain why and how you felt so inclined as to enter my home, fix yourself a pot of my tea, and pull a book from my study to read while you relax in my living room?”
Franziska did enjoy the company of her cousin, but this was a bit much. Even so, she poured herself a cup of tea, and sat across from him. “You are always welcome here, but please- Notify me beforehand… Or at least wait until I am home.” She frowned. “…And clean up after yourself. The shop is cluttered enough without your help.”
There was a slight pause as Roderich considered his words. “Well, I just got home from a week long trip in which my only company was my father and other stuffy businessmen, so I thought I would come and visit you for a change. But, you weren’t home, so I thought I would fix up some tea and read while I waited.”
He pushed his glasses up slightly. “I’ll remember to do that next time. And I planned to clean up after I finished my tea.” Whether or not he actually did was up to debate. “Regardless, how are you?”
"Well, I suppose it doesn't really matter now, as you've already made yourself quite at home... in my home." She continued, mumbling. "And it's not my place to be kicking family out anyway."

Franziska had stepped out for about an hour or so to run a few errands. She wasn’t too worried about anyone messing with the shop while she was gone- After all, the citizens of Gramina weren’t exactly known for breaking and entering… As far as she knew.
Thus, upon her arrival home, Franziska was a bit shocked to find the front door ajar. Naturally, she assumed this was her own doing, and thought nothing of it. However, the unmistakable clinking of teacup against saucer was rather concerning.
The woman peaked into the kitchen to find her teapot left out, and scowled. This squatter didn’t even have the decency to clean up their mess. Hmph! Franziska made her way through the kitchen, and into the living area, once again peaking around the corner to see who was there.
Oh. Now she got it.
“Ahem.”
The tea was quite nice. Roderich knew he could always count on Franziska to have only the best quality. They were family, after all, and in certain aspects, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
He’d been a bit too absorbed in his book to hear her enter her home. Upon hearing her clear her throat, though, Roderich looked up. “Ah. Franziska, you’re here.” He set his book on his lap, folding the corner of the page to mark his spot, before delicately setting his tea cup and saucer onto the small side table. “I was wondering when you might arrive.”
She let out one, very long, exasperated sigh. "Roderich. Dear cousin." A pause. "Would you care to explain why and how you felt so inclined as to enter my home, fix yourself a pot of my tea, and pull a book from my study to read while you relax in my living room?"

@perlenketten
It’d been a long week. Attending meetings with his father took a lot of out Roderich. So, just as he typically did after long weeks such as these, he’d invited himself into his cousin’s home. She hadn’t been home when Roderich arrived, so he’d let himself in and now was enjoying a cup of tea in her living room, reading a book as he waited for her to return.

🍎- An Apple
…This felt like a subliminal stab at her poor dietary habits as of late. She tossed the apple around in her palms. “Ah- Thank you?” Franziska managed a grin. It was important to be polite anyway, she thought.

"I heard it was someone's birthday!"
Lilli smiled brightly at the woman, “you heard right, Miss Frans-si-Fransisi-” She sighed and gave up. “It’s my birthday today. I’m seven!”
Franziska gasped, putting a hand over her mouth. "Seven! You're getting so old!" A laugh. "Well, since it's your birthday..." She pulled a small box from her coat pocket, holding it out to Lilli. It was wrapped in bright blue paper with a bow way to big for the package. "This is for you."
