@phantomsrpg-blog1
is there going to be an ooc page for reference as to who everyone is/how old they are
Yes! Sorry about not getting it done sooner. I’ll go start on it right now.
I just wanted to say that this rp looks absolutely lovely and I wish you guys the best!
This is so sweet, thank you so much! Oh my goodness.
No problem! I didn't mean to make you feel bad. I'm in a timezone way ahead of EST, so I just didn't keep track of the clock. Totally didn't realize it was evening time there already.
Next time, I’ll be sure to make a post a few hours before acceptance. I actually didn’t expect to be accepting right when we did. But again, I’m so sorry.
Oh crap. Maybe provide warning, please? :/ I was going to apply for a character with an app.
Oh, shoot! I’m so super duper sorry! Out of the current canon characters, Emmeline and Peter are still open, so if you were going to apply for Emmeline you still have time! If that application was for Regulus, I really am sorry. I feel absolutely awful.
[ NICOLE — OC THEODORE MATHERS — DIEGO BARRUECO ]
Congratulations Nicole, you’ve been accepted for the role of your original character Theodore Mathers!
Notes from the Admins: First of all, let me say thank you so, so much for being patient with us through this whole crazy acceptance process. It was really great getting to sit down and brainstorm with you, and it means so much to us that you’re willing to tailor one of your older original characters to this group and this verse. But in any case, I’m really excited to see Theo in play, and welcome to the group!

FULL NAME: Theodore Nathaniel Mathers FACE CLAIM: REMOVED CURRENT AGE: 21 PREVIOUS HOGWARTS HOUSE OR OTHER WIZARDING SCHOOL : Salem, in the United States; Theo was born in England and therefore a citizen of the UK, but his parents—who had both attended Hogwarts—decided he needed international experience if he was to take after them in their high-ranking diplomacy positions in the Ministry. After he graduated, he returned to England to reconnect with the heart of the wizarding world. (At Salem, they wore prep school uniforms rather than robes, an American quirk, and Theo still prefers to forego a robe when he can get away with it.) BLOOD STATUS [ including species, if applicable ] : Pureblood AFFILIATION OR ALLEGIANCE : Neutral WAND: Blackthorn, phoenix feather core, twelve inches
Blackthorn, which is a very unusual wand wood, has the reputation, in my view well-merited, of being best suited to a warrior. This does not necessarily mean that its owner practises the Dark Arts (although it is undeniable that those who do so will enjoy the blackthorn wand’s prodigious power); one finds blackthorn wands among the Aurors as well as among the denizens of Azkaban. It is a curious feature of the blackthorn bush, which sports wicked thorns, that it produces its sweetest berries after the hardest frosts, and the wands made from this wood appear to need to pass through danger or hardship with their owners to become truly bonded. Given this condition, the blackthorn wand will become as loyal and faithful a servant as one could wish.
This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike.
Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.
HISTORY :
The Mathers family history is steeped in prestige, wealth, and glory; dating back hundreds of years, his ancestors have been Slytherins. Theo, an only child, never personally cared about what house he was sorted into and believed that wherever the hat decided he belonged would only serve to heighten his worth, his strength. For, after all, where he ended up was solely due to who he is at his core. It turned out he needn’t have even considered the options, because his parents, who both worked within the Department of International Magical Cooperation, wanted Theo to make ties across the Atlantic to further the family’s reach and status. Theo, of course, went without fuss, left behind every friend and acquaitance at the age of eleven and travelled to another continent on his own (his parents couldn’t be bothered to drop him off; they had an attendant accompany him, but Theo’s independence hardly necessitated that). Subconsciously, it felt to Theo like an elite form of abandonment, exile, like after his seven years in school he wouldn’t be able to return home— of course, this wasn’t true, but every time he returned home for holiday felt strangely precarious, and his traditional pureblooded parents, wealthy and proper and careful, maintained the same distance they always had. It was ingrained in him from a young age that he deserved whatever he was able to earn on his own, and he soon learned to excel at all he did; with skill came praise and recognition from his parents and later his peers, acquaintances, people he didn’t know, and from that, power. The feeling of authority, superiority, was addictive to Theo and his time at Salem was spent chasing it. He was the top of his class in every class but Potions, a subject he didn’t much care for, though he maintained good marks if only for his reputation.
He is fascinated by the idea of leaving a legacy, but the darker side of him chases immortality. It’s part of the reason he avoided joining the Dark Lord’s ranks, since Theo is self-interested at heart and could only serve a cause or group as long as there’s benefit in it for him. It may have started as something drilled into him by his parents—make a name for yourself, preserve this family—but as he grew older and entered Salem it became something of an obsession: sure, he wanted to be remembered, but he didn’t want to have to die first. He was social enough to gain popularity, but in his free time he collected rare, forbidden books from suspect sellers, trying to figure out how to make himself immortal: figuratively or, he would realize later, literally. Sometimes his friends or acquaintances made fun of him for being so studious; it wasn’t like they had any idea what he was up to, and he still prefers to remain as secretive as possible, ever afraid of someone else gaining the upper hand, or being victorious over him. He still isn’t completely sure what he’s looking for, but he feels closer to it now than he’s ever been, what with almost free reign to travel due to his job in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.
Everyone has flaws, and Theo’s jealousy stabs at his self-assumed virtues. While he might have found himself an adequate place among his class at Salem, that competition he felt spread to include others, from other prominent wizarding families back in England, such as Potter and his minions. That competitive jealousy drives his actions, almost to a fault, because it stems back to his infallible pride and the need to be the best, in control, on top, and he knew that once he returned home he’d have a lot harder time making a name for himself amongst people who might not have forgotten the Mathers family but certainly lost interest in Theo, the son overseas. Getting a job at the Ministry was almost essential to Theo, a sure-fire way to get back in with the same crowd he’d grown up a part of.
His parents taught him determination, motivation through revenge and standard. They taught him to be steady, to make himself into a chameleon as a mask so that he may be whatever serves his interests best. They taught him to defy emotion, that fickle human weakness, because that was what ruined legacy. It was certainly too much for a five year old who knew nothing more than instinct and the cold faces of his mother and father, and he knew better than to hope for affection. The things they told him as they laid him down to sleep at night - spoken straight and flat, never a croon - began to seep into his skin from the air they sliced, soaking his bones in the essence of something more inhuman. So, in a sense, Theo is a product of his environment—but only so much. He doesn’t learn violence from his family. They demand poise and composure and civility that don’t discriminate, and his destructiveness comes from somewhere deeper, somewhere thoroughly embedded into his very being that its being ripped out would tear his soul. It’s another of his imperfections, but where his pride might be an Achilles heel, his penchant for violence often damages others than himself.
The problem for his peers and colleagues and even enemies was that it was hard to see beneath the surface, and on the surface, Theo was good at everything— at Quidditch and smart talking and sex and learning. He’s a dexterous person, especially with Latin, which seemed to have been lying dormant in the confines of his mind from birth, patient for the day he was ready to use magic. Talent is one of his greatest wealths, and he uses it as a mask as often as he can. In school, he’d disdain the teachers not as well prepared for class as he was, but this was just for fun, an inside joke with his group of friends, considering it required some extra effort on his part to actually do extensive reading ahead of time. It gave him the reputation of being put-together and prepared and good at the dirtiest things, someone to aspire to be with, or to be, when in reality everything was frayed around the edges, hanging just this side of chaos.
PERSONALITY :
Enigmatic. He’s all about control, so he tries not to be truly knowable to anyone. Sometimes this includes himself. See also: cryptic, guarded, chameleon-like, distrustful.
Proud. Weakness means failure; it’s a given in his world, no different than the rules of magic, the earth beneath his feet. Save his pride, and maybe he can save himself. That’s the rationale. See also: arrogant, insolent, cavalier, totalitarian.
Manipulative. For those who’d like the world at their fingertips, they must know how to orchestrate its inhabitants, and Theo deigns to become a master puppeteer. He’s at his most comfortable when he’s engineering others’ actions, because he thinks it means he’s protected from it happening to him. Control, control. See also: cautious, cunning, Machiavellian, calculating.
Charismatic. Oh, but was there ever anyone in power who stayed in power without spinning loyalty from words and soul? (The answer is no; just look to all the fallen kings.) See also: eloquent, magnetic, enthralling, dynamic.
RELATIONSHIPS :
Lucius Malfoy - close friend
Narcissa Malfoy - “friend”
Myron McKinnon - kinda like the tensest partners, ever
James Potter - enemy, fueled by deep familial hatred
Sirius Black - estranged childhood friend
Frank Longbottom - friendly acquaintance
SEXUALITY, ROMANTIC ORIENTATION, AND GENDER IDENTITY :
Sexuality: Bisexual
Romantic orientation: biromantic
Gender identity: Male
Theo isn’t the type to discriminate when it comes to who he sleeps with; he’s a tactile person and appreciates the aesthetically pleasing.
EVERYTHING ELSE :
Because of his parents’ positions in the Ministry, Theo all but had his pick of jobs; however, pride drives his actions more than anything else, so he chose a profession starkly different from his parents, instead ending up in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. He actually excelled in the topic in school, deeply fascinated by most creatures and their role in the magical world and so forth. It’s actually one of his few passions, and something he’d gladly talk about more frequently if anyone showed interest. Dragons in particular are a favorite. Still, because of his pragmatic and self-serving nature, it’s not as though Theo is immune to the benefits of collecting or selling certain rarities, and he’s lucky enough to have a job that enables easy access to both the creatures and the black markets. His fascination is juxtaposed by his selfishness.
Theo is a loose-cannon, a time-bomb. He wants so much and yet keeps so much hidden, and when he reaches his breaking point—whatever that may be—it’s going to be catastrophic. When you’ve curated a life so carefully, the pieces that inevitably don’t fit will start to show, and that’s where his development will come along. Whether it’s positive or negative… that is yet to be seen. But he is capable of magic, and madness, and definitely murder.
His best friend at Salem, Gabriel LaPointe, was killed two years after their graduation by the Order of the Phoenix, for acting as a supposed informant to the Death Eaters. While Theo has no great desire to be a Death Eater, his indifference toward the Order of the Phoenix (he considered them a minor nuisance, nothing more) grew into something more personal and hostile, even if they were right about what Gabriel was up to. He’s not one to put a vendetta ahead of his own goals, but it’s something that sits in the back of his mind at all times.
While in America, the most popular sport among wizards after Quidditch was ice hockey, a muggle pastime that appealed due to the high-speed pace and agility of the game. It’s not something Theo would ever admit to—especially not around his parents, whose disdain for all things muggle could drown a lesser man—but it’s one of the things he misses most about his time there. That, and the food.
He can’t fall asleep each night without a bit of alcohol to ease him into exhaustion, but he isn’t a snob about what he drinks. If there’s expensive whiskey around, great, but cheap vodka does the trick just as well, and Theo doesn’t actually like to throw money around, even though he has plenty.
A (long) list of guotes that are probably about Theo Mathers:
“Murder our love to save our pride.”
“With me, the present is forever, and forever is always shifting, flowing, melting. This second is life. And when it is gone it is dead. But you can’t start over with each new second. You have to judge by what is dead. It’s like quicksand… hopeless from the start. A story, a picture, can renew sensation a little, but not enough, not enough. Nothing is real except the present, and already, I feel the weight of centuries smothering me. Some girl a hundred years ago once lived as I do. And she is dead. I am the present, but I know I, too, will pass. The high moment, the burning flash, come and are gone, continuous quicksand. And I don’t want to die.”
“To me, a wicked man who is also eloquent seems the most guilty of them all. He’ll cut your throat as bold as brass, because he knows he can dress up murder in handsome words.”
“Pain and suffering are always inevitable for a large intelligence and a deep heart. The really great men must, I think, have great sadness on earth.”
“Desire is the kind of thing that eats you and leaves you starving.”
“They say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time. I mean, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to die twice.”
“Which is worse? The wolf who cries before eating the lamb or the wolf who does not.”
“It was like when you make a move in chess and just as you take your finger off the piece, you see the mistake you’ve made, and there’s this panic because you don’t know yet the scale of disaster you’ve left yourself open to.”
“The worst battle you have to fight is between what you know and what you feel.”
“Half gods are worshipped in wine and flowers. Real gods require blood. “
“There is nothing to fear except the power you give your own demons.”
“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”
“In my experience, men go to far greater lengths to avoid what they fear than to obtain what they desire.”

Those with a crow patronus tend to be well-spoken and naturally skilled at observing and picking apart other individuals; they have a keen sense for people’s weaknesses and know how to use what they learn against others. They’re extremely intelligent and curious, almost to the point of nosiness. You’ll often find them with their nose in a book or their hand on a wand, practicing. At times, they can be proud to a fault. They’re tricksters, manipulative and mischievous. They’re ambitious and impatient, and while they prefer to plan before acting, sometimes the emotion they push down can get the better of them and force impulsive action. More than anyone, those with a crow patronus are frequently misunderstood. Their sense of humor is witty and sarcastic, sometimes verging on cruel. They are looking for greatness, or at least want to be remembered.

[ ELLIE — REGULUS BLACK — JEREMY KAPONE ]
Congratulations Ellie, you’ve been accepted for the role of Regulus Black!
Notes from the Admins: I think my notes are just?? Loud wheezing noises?? Like I know no one else can read your para sample because it’s removed for safety reasons, but wow. Oh, wow. Every application that comes through the inbox, I’m awestruck at how much beautiful effort is put into these. This is totally gorgeous. FULL NAME [ with maiden name, if applicable ] :
Regulus was born Regulus Jadon Connor, the child of a pureblood squib. It was quite a surprise when the Black family offered to take him, and he was then dubbed Regulus Arcturus Black, or R.A.B.
The name Regulus means ‘a petty king, or ruler’ or ‘prince, little king’ and is pronounced as ‘reg-yuh-luh s.’ The name Jadon means ‘thankful,’ in Hebrew & is pronounced as ‘JHEY-don.’ His previous maiden name, Connor, was that of a pureblood fellow who was from America. The mother was from England, and practically dumped him on the Black’s doorsteps - for they knew they wanted one more son, no matter the ethnicity. The name Arcturus means ‘the plough,’ or ‘the bear keeper,’ and it is pronounced as ‘ark-tu’-rus.’
The name Black is a very powerful surname. The Black family are renowned for their riches, and their excellent history in producing countless viable heirs, no matter the original source of the fathers, or mothers affections… No one’s ever questioned Regulus’s liability as an heir to the Black household, not even the relatives that know of his… Lack of ‘Black blood.’ The Black family have been known for generations, and generations - & he’s thankful for the generosity of the Black family, though he can be filled with spite. Because, he knows, he isn’t a true child of the Black family.
FACE CLAIM [ please include at least two choices ] :
REMOVED
CURRENT AGE [ the roleplay will begin on January 1st, use the previous year unless January 1st is your character’s birthday ] :
Eighteen years of age.
PREVIOUS HOGWARTS HOUSE OR OTHER WIZARDING SCHOOL :
Slytherin alumni. The house of ‘EVIL.’
BLOOD STATUS [ including species, if applicable ]:
Pureblood wizard, human.
Regulus oozes the essence of a pureblood individual. In the exterior, he can be cool - but he is overall, contradictory. He has always been a pureblood boy, and everyone knows that. He just oozes the confidence, ambition & consciousness of a pureblood. Suits, pristine glass bottles, endless traditions & cold hands, with eyes filled with n o t h i n g like you’ve ever seen before… These are the things that make up a pureblood, and make up him.
AFFILIATION OR ALLEGIANCE :
Death Eaters.
This was an easy decision for Regulus, even though he’s struggled, as of late - with who he really is, and the things he has d o n e… He’s loyal. That’s the part of him that he can’t understand. He hates the things he will be made to do, or that he has been made to do - & he can’t stop it. It’s made him the person who he is & it’s an ever welcome replacement for the empty home filled with empty praises & empty words & an empty woman, hollow except for the spitefulness that fills the very heart of her. He’s seen things no one would ever want to see - and he has faced death itself. He is a Death Eater, and he has an arrow through his HEART.
WAND :
Ash wood ( for the association with the Dark Arts & Transfiguration, signifying the changes that he refuses to admit have happened within his head ), Doxy Wing core ( for the unmanagable, meanspirited, & found in the hands of STUBBORN Slytherin’s, )Sturdy ( third to the most powerful. )
ADJUSTMENTS :
Regulus and Sirius are half-brothers, and it’s contributed to his e x p l i c i t need to impress both of his parents. No matter how many times either of his cousins have told him that he doesn’t need to ( with pressing words & ever cold hands & eyes that could M U R D E R with a f i n e s s so pure & fingertips that are as i c y as they can be ) he doesn’t believe them. He knew he didn’t need to, impress them, as such - when Sirius began to rebel ( it was never a case of REGULUS IS THE ANGEL NOW because they were a l l sinners. ) He’s never so much talked to his parents, or even Kreacher, about his need to impress those who he believes are far superior to who he is. Though he may be a l o n e in the world because no one knows the true nature of Regulus’s arrival into the world ( so much blood. ) He’s never quite fitted in, and in the grand scheme of things? He doesn’t know why he believes it’s a good thing, and he doesn’t understand the feeling of a weight on his chest whenever he’s referred to as ‘the Black boy’ because he was never m e a n t to be a Black.
The Inferi attack was one of the most life changing events of Regulus’s life ( oh, their cold, cold BONES & their w h i t e skin & grabbing hands & parted lips & half screeches )& no one shall ever know of it. He knows what he has done, he knows the things he has done is betrayal of the highest order, which is why he’s never going to tell anyone. The only two people that shall ever know are he and Kreacher ( and he’s really a House Elf. )Betraying the cause was a decision he made after being told by Kreacher about the things he had SEEN, the terrible poisonous things he has seen & done & was told to d o by the DARKEST OF LORDS. He is haunted by the memories of those, & it is the most a d u l t thing he’s ever done in his life. & it’s probably the only adult thing he’ll ever do… Knowing him.
Regulus is a chain smoker, and smokes heavily. Originally, it had started when he wished to look more s u a v e & mature, despite his childlike demeanor, and his personality. He became addicted just under six months ago, & hasn’t been able to kick the habit ( well, it’s not like he wants to. ) His head is always surrounded by a cloud of smoke, and he nicknames it as him having his ‘head in the clouds.’
When Emma & James broke up, his friendship group d i s i n t e g r a t e d. & he was left with no choice but to stop talking to the people who r u i n e d his life, no matter who they used to be to him or how much they used to make him happy. He stopped speaking to Dorcas & Andromeda, not so permanently severing ties with them ( for, they always tried to reach him - & he never responded ) then, after that year? Sirius was added to that list. He despised it, he hated every moment of it & Emma became his rock. Despite how she was already graduated & engaged/married, he took to spending a lot of his time with her. Half of summer was spent with her & Rabastan, the latter he was pleasantly surprised by. They lived in a world of blood traitors, & knowing she’s married into a respectable & NOT blood traitor family was a relief to him. He complimented her choice in husband many times, & he’s always failed to notice the look of pure RESENTMENT on her face. The gap Sirius left was filled with Emma, Rabastan, Dark Arts, smoking & l e a v i n g behind memories. He doesn’t care, for those who look at him with pure resentment - because of his words. & he’s filled with n o n c h a l a n c e whenever he sees that LOOK on Emma’s face.
The refusal of acknowledging change paragraph is absolutely fine by me, no changes there.
SEXUALITY, ROMANTIC ORIENTATION, AND GENDER IDENTITY :
Regulus doesn’t understand the i n f a t u a t i o n with gender identity, or sexuality. He doesn’t understand why muggles believe it to be such a big deal. He’s primarily asexual, and demiromantic. He is a cisgender male, though he sometimes doesn’t understand why he yearns to be someone else, to be s o m e t h i n g else.
EVERYTHING ELSE :
Anything will probably be found under ‘phantoms!regulus,’ though it’s a long shot that I’ll post anything in the password:phantoms tag, because I’m way too nervous about this, really.
ADDITIONAL FILES
BOGGART :
The Inferi. Ever since that dreaded night, all he can imagine is them pulling him further & further down into the a b y s s of water. Into the toxicity that m a d e them. He doesn’t want to become them, and most of the time? His Boggart is himself, in Inferi form. The would-be end of his life, relived… Over & over & over a g a i n.
AMORTENTIA :
Old port. Tobacco smoke. Jasmine perfume. Raspberry shampoo. Roast dinner. Some say he has the most random of Amortentia, and… Honestly? He believes that, too. He never thought any of those things could work together. But, to him… They do.
PATRONUS :
Regulus is able to cast a Patronus, though no one knows that. He never casts one, not anymore - for he knows that everyone else would try… And be attacked by the demons coming out from the tip of their wands. It’s a dog, just like Sirius. & he completely despises it, though now he believes he can’t cast one, and was only able to cast one through pure determination & innocence.

Can you tell me anything about Sybill and Rita?
Yes! I don’t know very much about them yet, admittedly, but I can tell you for sure that Sybill is fresh out of school and her bio will focus heavily on her as a Seer. Playing with the Greek Myth of Cassandra a little bit. Rita, on the other hand, is fairly established in her journalism career, though at the moment she doesn’t have the best reputation.

FULL NAME [ with maiden name, if applicable ] :
Narcissa Gwendolen Malfoy [nee Black]
Narcissa [nar-SIS-ə] derives from the Greek myth of Narcissus, a beautiful but vain character whose obsession of his own beauty became his downfall. The term ‘narcissism’ which refers to vanity and elitism comes from this mythos. It is very fitting that Narcissa is named as such seeing as she is often referred to as ‘a great beauty’, however, she is not so modest in the sense that she knows and owns the good looks she has. More times than not, she uses her beauty as a tool to get what she wants, being taught by her mother that her ‘feminine wiles’ are her strongest asset.
Gwendolen [GWEN-də-lin] meaning “white ring” from the Welsh words gwen (white, fair, blessed) and dolen (ring). The name derives from a mythical queen of the Britons who defeated her husband in battle, as told by Geoffrey of Monmouth. Narcissa’s appearance is a dramatic contrast to her family’s, even as she is adopted. Their features are considerably darker, while Narcissa has blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. She simply sticks out like a sore thumb in a family portrait, setting her apart from her sisters, her cousins, her family, even more than she already is.
Black [blăk] as in the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black. As in one of the largest, oldest, and wealthiest pure-blooded wizarding families in Britain and one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. Blood purity is a trait most valued in this family, reflected in the house motto: Toujours Pur, meaning “Always Pure”. Many wizarding families in Britain are distantly related to the House of Black, most notably, those who are pure-blooded as well. It was a privilege to be selected to be a part of a family of such high esteem. Even though she is not the actual fruit of Druella and Cygnus’ loins, their ideas of blood elitism easily transpired to Narcissa’s rearing.
Malfoy [MAL-foi] is derived from the French “mal foi”, meaning “badly (or in this case, bad) faith” or “unfaithful”. In law, “bad faith” refers to a case in which a malicious motive on the part of a party in a lawsuit undermines their case. The Malfoy family consists of an ancient line of pureblood wizards, and fully accepts their reputation for pureblood supremacy and courting richness and power from those around them with pride. To say the least, the Malfoy line is second to the Black family, and therein the perfect family for Narcissa to marry in. Lucius would be able to provide for her if her own family couldn’t–wether it be with his money or with his status. After all, the Malfoy family motto does mean “Purity Will Always Conquer” and in rough times, Narcissa believes that her blood status will save her.
FACE CLAIM [ please include at least two choices ] :
REMOVED CURRENT AGE [ the roleplay will begin on January 1st, use the previous year unless January 1st is your character’s birthday ] :
23 years young
PREVIOUS HOGWARTS HOUSE OR OTHER WIZARDING SCHOOL :
Slytherin alumn BLOOD STATUS [ including species, if applicable ]:
her papers say Pureblood but Maury Povitch says MUGGLE BOOOOORRRRRRNNNNNN [horns fire] AFFILIATION OR ALLEGIANCE :
“as a death eater…supporter.” WAND :
10 ¼ inches; cherry wood; dragon heartstring core; unyeilding
Cherry is a very rare wand wood that creates a wand of strange power, most highly prized by the wizarding students of the school of Mahoutokoro in Japan, where those who own cherry wands have special prestige. The Western wand-purchaser should dispel from their minds any notion that the pink blossom of the living tree makes for a frivolous or merely ornamental wand, for cherry wood often makes a wand that possesses truly lethal power, whatever the core, but if teamed with dragon heartstring, the wand ought never to be teamed with a wizard without exceptional self-control and strength of mind.
Narcissa’s wand being made of a wood so overlooked for its beauty makes the most sense. As written above, Western wixes often think that the wand would be of just ornamental use, not capable of performing powerful incantations, however, in actuality, the wood is one that possesses a great ability. This wood is a perfect match for Narcissa because she is so often judged herself because of her beauty rather than her ability. While people may just see her as a beautiful fool, she is one of the most capable witches.
Dragon Heartstring symbolizes Power and Wisdom. Those who are strong, wise, compassionate, dedicated, relentless, resilient, bold, strong-minded, head-strong, powerful, ambitious, highly determined and driven (to obsessive), have strong desire and/or stubborn would have this wand core. Having such a wand core suggests that you can be bossy at times, but also have a fiery disposition and have firm convictions, which will lead you down the road to leadership, as well as being devoted and selfless. As a rule, Dragon Heartstring cores produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. wands with Dragon Heartstring cores tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. Such wands also tend to be easiest to turn to The Dark Arts, though they will not incline that way of their own accord. Dragon Heartstring cores are a powerful wand core with a lot of magical “heft”. They are not the wand core you want for subtlety, but for sheer power, they are definitely the best. Although they are the most common core among Dark Wizards and Dark Witches, they are most certainly not their most common users.
As cherrywood bonds best with Dragon Heartstring cores, it is no wonder that that is exactly the wand that Narcissa has. After all there is only the best for the best. This wand core also ties itself to those who are passionate, cunning, and ambitious, traits that Narcissa no doubt has. The ability the core has for magic makes it a suitable match for Narcissa, seeing as she is one for extravagances to leave her mark when needed to. This core bonds well to her, knowing that she is able to control the potential that the magic it wields has.
Unyielding wands finely tune themselves to its original owner’s preferences and doesn’t stray from those preferences, even in the hands of a new owner; the new owner will just have to get used to it. It is particularly good for combative and healing magic. Unyielding wand owners tend to be very confident in themselves and/or in the things they believe in. They tend to be intelligent, somewhat cynical, and usually have well-defined principles that they will not stray from ever. Sometimes, this combination can lead to arrogance because of them insisting on how right they are without considering other points of view or whether or not they might be wrong.
Because Narcissa was raised on the principles of blood purity, she is most suitable for a wand that is unyielding. While most Dragon Heartstring wands may stray from its original owner after being rightfully won over, Narcissa’s wand is loyal to her only and is perfectly adapted to her the pressures of her handgrips and gauges of power.
ADJUSTMENTS :
[most of this was copied from the character bio you had, I just rewrote some of it to fit the choices I made in regards to the consistency of her character]
Narcissa was adopted when she was still a baby and has never had any contact with her birth family. She was born to Muggle parents who died in a tragic automobile accident one night while Narcissa was in the care of her paternal grandmother. Her grandmother, a Squib, who raised her non-magical children as Muggles, noticed incredibly early signs of magic in the orphaned beauty and decided that Narcissa would be better off raised in the magical world. With forged papers claiming the child as a Pureblood, she placed Narcissa for adoption in a Wixen agency.
At present, Narcissa is two months pregnant with her first child. Because the pregnancy is still in the earliest stages, there is still so much that can go wrong, so Narcissa has yet to tell a single soul–especially her husband and her family. She doesn’t want to be seen as a disappointment if she miscarries, as growing up, she always knew that her place in life would be a socialite homemaker. The idea of making her own family and caring for it fulfills that central duty.
She craves to be the perfect daughter, perfect sister, perfect cousin–but more importantly, the perfect Black. This incessant need quickly turned into a constant paranoia that follows her, making her think before each step she takes. Her adoption status has only made that paranoia worse, always in need of validation in case things turn for the worse for her. Instead of confronting her issues and fears, Narcissa hides behind the price tags of jewelry and the blush fabric of her clothes, basking in the luxuries that were given to her the day the adoption papers were signed all those years ago.
All Narcissa wants to do is to love and to be loved; full of love that neither sibling found interest in. She has a vision and she will not rest until that is her reality. She saw Lucius as her way out; her ticket to the freedom she, for a very long time, was so good at pretending she didn’t want. In many ways, she didn’t care for the type of man she would be given to marry: she believed in her persuasion and naively thought that happiness would come if the price tags stayed high enough. However, Narcissa aims to please, and there was a willingness inside of her to change everything she was for everything she would need to be to make her man happy. Her relationship with Lucius means the absolute world to her. She feels he is worth the love she has, and above all, feels protected.
Ever since she was small, Narcissa has always needed to do certain things a certain way. Wake up, bathe for exactly twelve minutes with the same soap every time, wash face, get dressed, eat breakfast. And so on. She has a small white leather-bound day planner that she keeps with her at all times, each day planned out to the minute. Should real life interfere with her schedule in any way, she immediately begins to panic, begins to search for the door, for the way out, hands grabbing at her little white book for some sense of security. She needs to always be in control of the room, her environment. Her world. Herself. In school, she would see how long she could go without eating just so test herself, make herself skip meals if she was five minutes late to class or she didn’t get an “ O ” on her essay. She’s better now, but she’ll still find herself touching every pearl on her necklace in order during an uncomfortable conversation or rearranging the flowers in the vase on the table every hour on the hour. That’s her last resort, though. If she thinks she’s found herself in a situation where she can’t have total control, she immediately shuts down and that’s that.
SEXUALITY, ROMANTIC ORIENTATION, AND GENDER IDENTITY :
Narcissa is a cisgender, demisexual, panromantic woman. She is heavily influenced by romantic notions and longs to be swept off her feet by a man (or anyone really) whom she deems is worthy. She has considered herself as a princess for most of her life and she is very happy that she found someone who has made her a capital-Q Queen.
EVERYTHING ELSE :
Narcissa has no plans, whatsoever, to track down and meet her birth family. She has no need for it when they were the ones who gave her up–or so she believes–in the first place and when the life she leads now is far more than anything else she could ever imagine. There are instances, however, when her true lineage does plague her mind. The lingering thoughts of who her birth parents are and what they were like haunts her in her darkest times, raising questions that she knows would break her heart if she knew the answers to, such as: were her parents blood traitors like her cousin and her sister? did they live extravagantly like she does now? would they have been proud of her? why did they give her up in the first place?

BOGGART :
She has no knowledge that she is not Pureblood, so having her boggart be her true blood status reveled makes no sense to me. But her boggart would take the form of her mother and her father, physically attacking her to the ground, and telling her that she is disowned. This is the worst fear for her, seeing as now they have gone back on their decision to choose her–Cygnus and Druella chose her–leaving Narcissa on the streets without an identity the way she was when she was a baby. It’s much different than Andromeda and Sirius being disowned, at least they still have their names, but Narcissa started out with nothing and would be left with nothing.
AMORTENTIA :
The earth just after it rains, rosewater baths, and the faint scent she can’t describe any other way than of Lucius when he holds her at night in their bed.
PATRONUS :
Narcissa is unable to produce a corporeal patronus, but hypothetically it would be the buzzard. Those with the patronus of the buzzard are natural observers. They are not the most social or talkative individuals, but they arevery analytical in their view, and can see things as they are with ease. They are opportunity seekers, and use their skills of deduction to reach their goals. Well-spoken when they need to be, buzzards are also very persuasive, and can often have many admirers from this.

⎨❍ A L L I G N M E N T S ? Myers-Briggs : ESTJs are representatives of tradition and order, utilizing their understanding of what is right, wrong and socially acceptable to bring families and communities together. Embracing the values of honesty, dedication and dignity, people with the ESTJ personality type are valued for their clear advice and guidance, and they happily lead the way on difficult paths. Taking pride in bringing people together, ESTJs often take on roles as community organizers, working hard to bring everyone together in celebration of cherished local events, or in defense of the traditional values that hold families and communities together.
Four Temperaments : The Choleric is an extroverted, hot-tempered, quick thinking, active, practical, strong-willed and easily annoyed person. Cholerics are self-confident, self-sufficient and very independentminded. They are decisive and opinionated and find it easy to make decisions for themselves as well as others. Cholerics tend to leave little room for negotiating. The Choleric is a visionary and seems to never run out of ideas, plans and goals, which are usually very practical. The Choleric does not require as much sleep as the other temperaments so their activity seems endless. Their activity almost always has a purpose because they are by nature result-oriented. They usually do not give in to the pressure of what others think unless they see that they cannot get the desired results. Cholerics can be crusaders against social injustice as they love to fight for a cause. Cholerics are both direct and firm when responding to others. They are slow to build relationships because results tend to be more important than people. They do not easily empathize with the feelings of others or show compassion. Cholerics think big and seek positions of authority.
Moral Alignments : A Lawful Evil character sees a well-ordered system as being easier to exploit, and shows a combination of desirable and undesirable traits; while it usually obeys its superiors and keeps its word, it cares nothing for the rights and freedoms of other individuals and is not averse to twisting rules in its favor.
[ JOSIE — DORCAS MEADOWES — GIZA LAGARCE ]
Congratulations Josie, you’ve been accepted for the role of Dorcas Meadowes!
Notes from the Admins: Man, oh man. I was so worried people were going to ignore how deeply and beautiful flawed Dorcas is. But you definitely didn’t! You embraced the parts of her that make her interesting, even though they aren’t very pretty. I loved that more than I can put into words, and your application was a true joy to read.

FULL NAME [ with maiden name, if applicable ] : Dorcas Anais Meadowes
Dorcas (DAWR-kəs) → “Gazelle”. Greek origin. “Dorcas.”An old family name, and one that, though beautiful in meaning, was not beautiful on the tongue. The nicknames were merciless, and for the first two years of Hogwarts, before she developed enough gall to actually hex someone, she was tormented with “Dork”, “Dorky”, “Dork-face”, the whole gamut of nicknames a twelve year old girl would not want to be called. Then, one fatal day in her third year, coincidentally right after she learned the bat-bogey jinx, Dorcas hexed an unsuspecting Gryffindor boy who decided to call her “Dork-face”. Tomato-red and fuming with rage, the small thirteen year old made it quite clear that they were to call her Dorcas (Cas was also acceptable, but Dorcas had to make her point—no nicknames).
Anaïs (ah-nah-EESE) → “Grace”. French origin. Dorcas is physically and verbally very graceful. She isn’t clumsy, doesn’t trip over her own feet, and always manages to remain upright when navigating through tightly-packed crowds. Dorcas writes beautifully, and is a very good orator, her words causing people to be in awe of her grace. FACE CLAIM [ please include at least two choices ] : REMOVED CURRENT AGE [ the roleplay will begin on January 1st, use the previous year unless January 1st is your character’s birthday ] : 20 [Birthday: October 25, 1959] PREVIOUS HOGWARTS HOUSE OR OTHER WIZARDING SCHOOL : Hufflepuff BLOOD STATUS [ including species, if applicable ] : Half-Blood AFFILIATION OR ALLEGIANCE : Order of the Phoenix WAND : Rowan, Phoenix Tailfeather, 11 ¾ inches, rigid
“Rowan wood has always been much-favoured for wands, because it is reputed to be more protective than any other, and in my experience renders all manner of defensive charms especially strong and difficult to break. It is commonly stated that no Dark witch or wizard ever owned a rowan wand, and I cannot recall a single instance where one of my own rowan wands has gone on to do evil in the world. Rowan is most happily placed with the clear-headed and the pure-hearted, but this reputation for virtue ought not to fool anyone - these wands are the equal of any, often the better, and frequently out-perform others in duels.” (source)
“This is the rarest core type. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.” (source)
ADJUSTMENTS :
I think this might be the one time in the history of my roleplaying where I actually don’t want to change anything about the bio (and I’m not just saying that). Like I literally love Dorcas in general but this is such a deeply flawed, but still super amazingly beautiful Dorcas and I’m going to stop talking right now and get on with the app but no, I don’t have any adjustments.
SEXUALITY, ROMANTIC ORIENTATION, AND GENDER IDENTITY :
Dorcas identifies as a cis-female, and is panromantic demisexual.
EVERYTHING ELSE :
Okay this will be me rambling for a little while because I adore your Dorcas and how beautifully flawed she is. The first thing I love about her is how much of a people person she is. She is a person shaped by relationships, whether they be good or bad, every person contributed a part to her. She has some heavy abandonment issues (which I’ll touch on in the Boggart part), which I think is why she loves planning parties so much. She gets energy from being around people, and from seeing how they light up when they’re at one of her famous parties. Making people happy is her thing, it’s just something she loves to do. On the reverse, however, she’s very egocentric. She thinks her way is the best way, and if people don’t think the way she does, they’re, simply put, stupid. And she’ll (generally) let them know that. She just gets so frustrated when people don’t see things the way she does because why wouldn’t they? Dorcas thinks it’s her mission to make people understand, and when they don’t, she just doesn’t get it. She likes to play the victim, but it’s not a manipulation-thing, it’s just the way her mind works — when people attack her (even if she started it), then it’s not her fault. It’s their fault, and all she was trying to do was help. It makes Dorcas seem like maybe not the best person, but she’s a good person, who cares a lot about people. She just thinks she’s right all of the time.
Also I literally adore your portion on her being overbearing. Like that’s such a real problem people have now, it’s just such a human trait. Dorcas is incredibly privileged, for all intents and purposes. She’s white, she’s pretty, she’s intelligent, she’s upper middle-class. She has faced hardships, sure, definitely. But she will never know what it’s like to be oppressed, no matter how much she thinks she does. She can imagine it, but that’s all she can do. Dorcas, however, doesn’t see it that way. She thinks she knows more about a topic because she read it in a book somewhere (also she is incredibly philosophical and likes to think about large, abstract topics), but she doesn’t. And then her being a Buddhist, but like, a white-girl-hipster-Buddhist. I love it so much. I do think that Dorcas is a very spiritual person and takes Buddhism seriously, and it isn’t just a fashion accessory to her, but also, she isn’t as knowledgable on the topic as maybe a practitioner should be. And I love that so much. Like she’s so flawed and it’s so beautiful.
Ugh I also love how much she says she doesn’t care about money (referring to her work as an author and her latest spellbook). Like of course she says she doesn’t care about money — she has it. Okay in my mind, Dorcas likes to think she lives like a Romantic author, living by scraps and doing odd jobs to make ends meet. She probably lives in a small flat where her bedroom is the size of a closet and the kitchen and study is the same room. But she has no idea what it’s like to be poor, not really.
I think it’s really interesting that she’s written books. Like she graduated Hogwarts two years ago, when she was 18, and now she’s 20 and she’s written three books in two years. Dorcas is seriously so intelligent and admirable, but the fact that she wants to help people, and dedicated her life’s work to doing so in the best way that she knew how (aside from joining the Order, of course), is amazing. It just works really well, in my opinion.
LIKES
Games → Dorcas loves games and puzzles. She is incredibly competitive, so most people don’t want to play a game with her, in fear of getting hexed if she didn’t win. Her favorite is chess, both wizard and muggle. She finds chess to be an incredibly fascinating game, and has loved it nearly ever since she was eight years old. She has her own muggle edition of chess that always makes its way into her trunk. She never attends Quidditch games due to her fear of heights, so when everyone else is rooting for their favorite house, Dorcas is sitting on her bed, playing chess with herself (which she swears isn’t as lonely as it seems). Dorcas is her most focused, quiet, and serious while playing chess, and her peers have learned that it is far more than a game to her; it’s an obsession.
Words → I’ve mentioned this many times before, and I will mention it again probably, but Dorcas has an extreme love for words. She loves language, and finds it so incredibly fascinating how different people express themselves through certain words and phrases. Vernacular, she has noted, is different for nearly every person. She picks up on these linguistic differences, and tucks them away in her head for future use. Though Dorcas talks a lot, her words are always carefully placed; despite her impulsiveness, she always uses words to their full effectiveness, and nothing she says is ever a mistake.
DISLIKES
Painting → Dorcas hates painting, mostly because she’s really bad at it. In her head, she envisions beautiful works of art that she wants to create, but when she picks up a paintbrush, it almost always ends with an incredibly frustrated Dorcas, and multiple canvases of paint strewn across the room. As much as she hates to admit it, Dorcas can’t draw a straight line with a ruler, and though Dorcas ha many strengths, painting (and the visual arts in general) is just not one of them.
Losing → Dorcas is e x t r e m e l y competitive, and the sheer thought of losing makes her heart race and her blood boil. When people say she can’t do something, she will be jumping into whatever task it is, proving them wrong. And if it turns out that she can’t do something, which happens more often than Dorcas would like to admit, she most likely won’t leave her bed for days, coming up with a strategy to win.
HABITS
Puns → Dorcas has a habit of making puns. Some of them clever, others downright corny, but all of them make her friends roll their eyes at how awful they are. Dorcas has an affinity for words and linguistics, her mind incredibly sharp and able to make quick connections to words, allowing her to quickly respond to a conversation with a pun. She finds them hilarious, and she knows that, despite their protests, her friends find them funny as well. Cheering her friends up means the world to Dorcas.
Nail Biting → A nervous tick, Dorcas bites her nails down until there’s practically no more nail left. Or, she used to. She still bites her nails, the habit never going away, but she couldn’t stand how dirty and unappealing they looked. In an attempt to stop biting her nails, she paints them, because if they look nice, she won’t want to ruin it. However, she still picks at the nail polish and bites her nails, so Dorcas paints her nails a new color every few days.
Pet Names → Dorcas has the tendency to use pet names when talking to people, especially if it’s in a condescending manner. “Honey” and “sweetie” are terms that she frequently uses. With the right inflection, Dorcas becomes patronizing and condescending. She also uses pet names when flirting, her favorite for that occasion is “darling”. This truly illustrates Dorcas’ understanding of language, and her manipulation of words, changing them to fit her intention.
APPEARANCE
Dorcas always makes sure that she looks nice and presentable. She almost always has makeup on, her hair done, and she will never, ever be caught dead wearing sweatpants. She wears dresses almost always, or a nice sweater with an collared shirt underneath paired with a skirt. She adores jewelry and hosiery, having quote the collection of accessories. Her eye makeup stays generally the same; winged eyeliner and mascara to lengthen her eyelashes. Her lipstick, however, changes with her mood. She has quite the lipstick collection, as she believes lipstick is the perfect accessory to pull an outfit together.
ADDITIONAL FILES
BOGGART :
Her boggart is an emu. The things are terrifying — gigantic flightless birds with no purpose other than to look evil? Horrible creatures, emus. There’s no long dramatic story of why emus are her boggart, they just are. She’s afraid of them for no identifiable reason.
Her greatest (abstract) fear, however, is abandonment. Her father died when she was incredibly young, leaving her to think that he abandoned her (even though he didn’t—he died, but Dorcas isn’t as mature as she likes to believe she is). And then when her mother remarried (effectively putting all of her time into her new marriage), the rest of her family abandoned her as well, disowning her. Her cousin and best friend was completely torn from her, and she was left with people who cared for her, sure, but it wasn’t the same. And Dorcas never understood why she was disowned. She understood why her mother was disowned—she was the one who married the blood traitor (though Dorcas didn’t see him as a blood traitor), but Dorcas had no say in that. She was simply guilty by association. Of course Dorcas was adamantly against blood purism, and she was mildly ashamed that her family supported it, but rejection hurts no matter if it’s from your best friend or your worst enemy.
AMORTENTIA :
Fresh Croissants → Wafting through the small bakery and into the streets, the smell of freshly baked croissants immediately make Dorcas warm. Memories of her mother teaching her how to bake them (to no avail, Dorcas never seemed to know her way around a kitchen), remembering the flour on her nose and forehead and in her hair making Dorcas giggle, all comforted Dorcas. Summers spent with her mother in France were filled with the delicious pastries, and when she was little, she swore they were made with sunshine.
Coffee → Black and bitter and strong, just the way Dorcas liked it. The scent of coffee was filled with late nights of frustration, trying to write a Potions essay in under two hours. It was filled with breakfast with her family, reading the Daily Prophet, but only for the puzzles section, attempting to complete a crossword that would constantly change on her. Coffee is filled with muggle smoky jazz cafes that she dragged Marlene to, closing her eyes and feeling calm. It was funny; coffee made Dorcas jittery, gave her the vibrant personality that she was known for, but when she smells it, all she can feel is calm.
Old → A scent that can be described solely by the one adjective: old. Old like the ruins of the Parthenon in Greece, a place filled with magic; Dorcas stepped foot onto the site and felt a surge of energy rush through her, energy and optimism. Old like the books in the Hogwarts library, like the musty boxes in the attic that contain relics and precious family memorabilia. Old like the cobblestone streets of Paris and the stone of the Hogwarts Castle. Old is sturdy. Dorcas breathes in the scent of old and feels a reassurance that there was life before her, and there will be life after her. That though these worlds were years before her own, they remain standing. Old reminds her that it will never be, and can never be the end. Old is hope.
PATRONUS : A Lion
“Lions are loud and outgoing, their bravery abundant. They are very confident in their words and manners, always saying what they believe is the right thing and generally being all around friendly people. They are also incredibly helpful, ready to do whatever is in their power to help with a cause, and once they find something they care about they are strongly loyal to it. They are the same in their affections, loving with their whole heart. The most common house for a lion patronus is, not Gryffindor, but Hufflepuff. The most common signs are Leo and Gemini.”

Western Zodiac : Scorpio “This is one of the more bizarre signs to get sorted into House Hufflepuff, but every now and then it happens. It’s not as contradictory as one would think. Scorpio is perfectly happy to work behind the scenes without getting much recognition, provided that work actually gets something meaningful done and results in personal success; success means different things to different people, and Hufflepuff Scorpios tend to define success as "accomplishment” rather than as “prestige.” These Hufflepuffs are indefatigable. They have the energy and the willpower to keep going even when everyone else around them has quit. They are workaholics to an extreme, if they are obsessed with a particular project; otherwise, they are happy to devote their prodigious energies to their family and friends, to whom they are devoted. Scorpio is often associated with the serpents of Aesculapius, demi-god of medicine, and the social orientation and skill at herbals that Hufflepuff wizards exhibit make the Scorpio Hufflepuff a natural healer.”

You are born at a time of the waning sun so life can be difficult for you at times. This sometimes seems unfair because it appears that obstacles are coming at with no prompting on your part. Nevertheless, you endure troubling times with silent perseverance and soulful grace. Indeed, Ivy signs have a tendency to be deeply spiritual and cling to a deep-rooted faith that typically sees them trough adversity. You are soft spoken, but have a keen wit about you. You are charming, charismatic, and can effectively hold your own in most social settings. Ivy signs are attracted to the Celtic tree astology sign of Oak and Ash signs.”

FULL NAME [ with maiden name, if applicable ] : Andromeda Adelaide Tonks (Once her family disowned her she disowned the name, not using it in any sense.) FACE CLAIM [ please include at least two choices ] : REMOVED CURRENT AGE [ the roleplay will begin on January 1st, use the previous year unless January 1st is your character’s birthday ] : 26 PREVIOUS HOGWARTS HOUSE OR OTHER WIZARDING SCHOOL : Slytherin Alumna BLOOD STATUS [ including species, if applicable ] : With no family and no legacy, Andromeda is a pureblood in only the legal definition, not that it bothers her much anymore. At this point tradition is meaningless- if she can’t have the life she has with her family then she has no interest in anything else.
AFFILIATION OR ALLEGIANCE : Neutral. The offer to join the Order was tempting, and still is. But it’s no replacement for her husband’s warm body in the bed next to her and the kisses she receives each morning from her daughter. She abandoned her family ideals once, and it was the right decision- but she’ll never do it again.
WAND : 11 ½ inches Unyielding Blackthorn and Dragon Heartstring
ADJUSTMENTS :
Nada
SEXUALITY, ROMANTIC ORIENTATION, AND GENDER IDENTITY :
Andromeda is Heterosexual. There wasn’t much room for romantic interaction in her life besides the few sparse gestures of flirtation at Pureblood events. Ted’s it for Andromeda, which surprised no one more than herself. But she doesn’t need or want anything more than him. Her sexual preference isn’t something that she’s ever felt the need to examine.
EVERYTHING ELSE :
It was because Ted saw her, and she him. (And not in the physical sense- obviously she was visable.)
But he saw her. He looked at her as if she mattered and her words were important, something that left her parched. It was understandable. Narcissa’s beauty and grace and Bellatrix’s… tenacity tended to overshadow the third Black sister, though she’d tried to not pay it much mind. It was an unspoken rule to her that she would simply learn to be content in the background of her own life.
And then he smiled at her.
No one would be content with being complacent after that smile. It was impossible. Somehow he looked at her and was more knowledgeable than those she had shared a table with for years. And she sought to learn him as well, memorizing the lines of his cheekbones and the way he spoke with his hands. She thirsted for Edward Tonks, despite the fact that she’d been reared to despise him. She waited with her practicality for the hammer to fall. One day she was going to wake up and look at him across the Great Hall and not feel as if a Phoenix was opening it’s wings inside of her chest. Days turned into weeks turned into months and still he left her breathless.
Finally choosing him over her family wasn’t as difficult as she had anticipated, all of those nights laying in bed staring at the ceiling and knowing that she was risking everything. Andromeda wasn’t a risk taker….She calculated, she prepared, and most of all she knew what she was getting herself into. But Ted Tonks with his crooked smile was a risk she had to take, as if her life was compelling her towards him.
The only difficult part was walking away from her younger sister. Andromeda loved her sisters equally with fierceness, but there was always a separation between her and Bellatrix, as if Andromeda could never completely be allowed to love her manic sister. But Andromeda’s heart yearns to this day for her softer sister, and it is the one corner of her heart that aches for her old life.
ADDITIONAL FILES
BOGGART : Though she struggled with motherhood, anything happening to her child is by far her worst fear, tied with the thought that someone might harm her husband as well. The two of them, holding each other and dead, is Andromeda’s biggest fear. AMORTENTIA : shea butter, cool mint, the scent of ted’s cologne, freshly laundered sheets, lemon scented cleaning supplies, the smell in the air right before it rains, Narcissa’s shampoo PATRONUS : She won’t talk about it, deftly changing the subject whenever it’s mentioned, as it’s embarrassing, but Andromeda cannot cast a Patronus. Not for lack of trying, either. It’s just never happened, and with their lack of involvement in the war effort, it’s never really seemed to come up as an issue before.
EXTRA BONUS MATERIAL :
I really personally like questions like this to help me get a basic feel for my character, and I always have them saved somewhere but I almost never get to send them in as part of the real application. So if you’d like to answer some of these yourself, that’s great! Show me what you’ve got. But, like the rest of this “ additional files ” section, this is all optional.

Color : That color right after the sun sets, where you can still see the deep vast blueness of the night sky before it envelops you in darkness.
Weather : Sunshine. Cool, crisp, fall sunshine where Andromeda can walk outside, close her eyes, and tilt her face to the sky just to catch a soft breeze against her cheek. There’s maybe a handful of those days in a year, and she cherishes them all/
Music : Jazz. Perhaps the most enlightening thing about Muggle Culture is the music. Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Andromeda adores them all- especially when Ted is wrapped around her and they’re swaying to it in their living room.
Scent : The smell of their home. It’s only something that becomes noticeable after a long day, but it’s theirs, the three musketeers. And the sensation of walking into her home and smelling it is often accompanied by Dora’s cries of joy of Ted’s laughter, rounding out the sensory experience.
Beverage : Water. Nothing is comparable to a glass of ice cold water with a lemon.
Food : Soup. Merlin, Andromeda loves soup. In Summer it’s a cool cucumber, in Autumn is spiced squash. It’s a meal or a snack or anything in between and it’s not uncommon to find Andromeda experimenting with the left over vegetables in their refrigerator to see what she can come up with.
Animal : Andromeda Tonks is so stereotypically a cat person that it’s really not even something to joke about. She’d much rather have a cat curled in her lap than a dog by her feet- she thinks they smell.

F U L L N A M E ; Alice Violet Longbottom (nee Fortescue). She takes pride in saying her full name when introducing herself, knowing her bright (albeit a little messy) reputation precedes her. Few close friends shorten her first name to Lis, although sometimes, it takes her a moment to realize that she’s the one being addressed. In her younger years, her parents preferred to call her by Violet, so she responds to that just as well as she does to Alice.

B L O O D S T A T U S [ including species, if applicable ] ; Alice was born a pureblood witch.
A F F I L I A T I O N O R A L L E G I A N C E ; She is currently a member of the Order, and has been since her graduation from Hogwarts. It’s not information that’s openly shared due to her occupation as an Auror (as well as her concern that it might attract more attention that necessary), but those that are close to her are well aware of the fact, excluding her parents.
W A N D ; Her wand is 11” long, supple, and made with alder wood and a unicorn hair core. It’s practically her child.
→ A D J U S T M E N T S ;
Born during the spring to two conservative purebloods, Alice’s upbringing is a stark contrast from her current self. Her parents weren’t extremists by any means, but they were rather strict when it came to Alice, who was their only child. All the poor girl wanted to do was stay in her favorite little alcove inside their Ireland cottage and read books (in particular, fictional ones), but her parents would just not have it. Their little princess was meant to grow and shine, they would claim, and they backed it up by shoving her into so many extracurriculars that by the time Alice enrolled in Hogwarts, she was nothing short of an overachiever. She started singing classes by the age of five with a renowned witch within the upper-class Wix community, had a governess at the age of seven who helped her develop her studying methods long before she’d put it to good use, learned to speak fluent French and even dallied in muggle ballet for a short time. Sometimes, she had her episodes of rebellion, but they never lasted very long. It was in the heads of Mr. and Mrs. Fortescue that their girl was a delicate daisy, and must be treated as such. Of course, it goes without saying that Alice entered Hogwarts as a perfectly demure girl, and left as anything but.
[ Early into her schooling, Alice decided she wanted to be an Auror. She scored O’s on all of her O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. level classes, and then went on to pass both the written entrance exams and the field testing at the Ministry with flying colors. In fact, she did so well it was almost unheard of, and so the Head of the Auror Department made the executive decision to wave the two year probational period. Alice was able to skip desk duty entirely and, at the age of seventeen, became the youngest Auror in the department in decades. Hardly over five feet tall and a bubbly blonde, it’s easy for her co-workers to underestimate her, but she’s the youngest Auror in the office for a good reason. ]
[ While she’s very intelligent and intuitive, some people in the Auror Department still question how ready she is for all the responsibilities that come with the position she’s been handed at such a young age. Along with being the youngest, she’s also one of the best – but also one of the most impulsive. Some say it shows her immaturity, her inexperience. Others argue it shows how passionate and dedicated she is. After all, most of her professional decisions pay off. However, her impulsive nature in her personal life? She normally isn’t so lucky there. ]
Alice never reached the immortal status that the Marauders did with all their pranking and what not, but before she became a household name thanks to her status as an Auror, she was known within Hogwarts to dabble in concocting joke potions — and actually using them. It was never meant to be something of malice, but more often than not, even she couldn’t premeditate the consequences that often came with them, often all in the name of a good laugh. She still makes them every now and then, and particularly loves to use them on Frank, who pretty much has the patience of a saint.
Two years ago, at the prime age of sixteen, Alice became involved with an older student — namely, one Frank Longbottom. It was a bit of a whirlwind thrill; he was her very first boyfriend, her very first kiss, and the guy she gave everything to. Despite their friends saying it wouldn’t last, she was in love, and she felt he was her Prince Charming, a term she had come across when she read a muggle fairy tale called “Cinderella” at the age of nine, and pretty much became enamoured with the whole idea of it. It was entirely fitting, she’d justify, ignoring the subsequent eye rolls that would follow. Despite that, however, what she didn’t expect at all was to end up pregnant, of all things. Admittedly, Alice isn’t the neatest or the most organized girl out there, but the fact that their contraceptive method hadn’t worked still baffles her to this day. It took her a long week to realize that her sickly symptoms weren’t one of seasonal change, but signaled that she was pregnant, and horror followed. The very first person she told was Dorcas, the second, Daisy, the third, Lily, and last but not least, Frank, who she was positive was either going to hurl his breakfast or faint right in the middle of the Great Hall. It was like a sucker punch to her dreams and hopes, as well as his, but both took it with such stride that it amazed even their closest friends, who had their doubts. Weeks into the pregnancy, Alice became grew accustomed and comfortable of the thought of having a child, often dragging her friends to Hogsmeade to buy tiny unisex onesies and little colorful bows, a bounce in her step as she head back to the castle, holding her friends’ hands. It was an exciting and bustling time, for however short-lived it was. One month into the pregnancy, Frank proposed, and while marriage and babies seemed like they had been a lifetime away barely weeks ago for young Alice, she was confused yet ready, to say the least. They eloped a month later, but stayed in Hogwarts as both wanted to complete their education (particularly Alice, who insisted on still wanting to become an Auror). Everything came crashing down, however, during a late-night expedition Alice had been conducting with the aid of her friends, with the intention of setting up tiny pranks throughout the Hogwarts classrooms for the following day. It was meant to be a quick thing, more exhilarating and fun that anything else, but when her friends called it an early night on her, her stubbornness fought back and she set out to set things up herself. Before she could complete the task, during her hurry to descend a set of stairs, she lost her footing and tumbled down the steps. She was found by Hogwarts’ caretaker about thirty minutes later, with the source of blood coming from her lower body. Unfortunately, it was too late — the following morning, once Alice had regained consciousness, she was told that she had miscarried her three-month-old child. The news impacted her relationship with Frank for a couple of months, but the long-lasting consequence was that Alice developed a fear of being a mother. The incident proved to herself that she wasn’t going to be emotionally capable of having or raising a child until well off into her later years, when she became more mature, so she hasn’t made any plans of having a child sometime soon. However, as luck would have it, only three weeks ago, Alice began having some eerily similar symptoms she experienced during the week before she realized she was pregnant, but she’s too afraid to confirm it, much less tell Frank. For now, she’s keeping her mouth shut, but one thing she knows is: she doesn’t want this baby.
Confidence is something Alice oozes, no matter the time of day or how she’s feeling. In her favorite pair of pink platforms, she feels like she can do absolutely anything, and with her lucky pink ribbon holding back her blonde curls, she knows she’s going to have a good day. Some might call her fashionable because of her cutesy fashion choices, most of which consists of dresses and flowy skirts, but others might call her a bit of an eyesore — particularly all of the pink. Even the dark wizards she hunts down often mock her because of either all the pink or the delicate vibe she gives off, but if there’s a quote that describes her to a T, it’s “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. Beneath the light pink lipstick and her french vanilla perfume, Alice is anything but a fairy princess. She’s known for her growing talent in hand-to-hand combat, her aggressiveness in the field, and the way she handles her wand like she’s had it her whole life. While she might have her immature quirks, when it comes down to it, she’s a tough, determined girl who’s had her fair share of scrappy scuffles due to her volatility and impulsive behavior. At most, she’ll come out of a fight with a couple of bruises and blood and a broken heel, and really, the only thing she’ll complain about is having to buy a new pair of heels.
Her relationship with her husband is best described as a long-lasting honeymoon. Alice adores Frank just as much as she did when she first met him, and tends to see the both of them as the perfect fairytale couple. Seeing him, no matter the circumstances, always makes her eternally giddy and it’s clear that it does. Some interested men have come her way since she’s made a name for herself, but Alice has always been (and will always be) faithful and often turns them away without a second thought. However, with her being engulfed with work as of late, she hasn’t been as enthusiastic as before, and has started to prefer her small study over watching a romantic comedy with him. She’s not sure what it is, especially since she still adores him with all her heart, but maybe it’s some long overdue “me time”. It’s all quite confusing for the young witch, and she fears that Frank thinks that she doesn’t love him anymore, but she doesn’t know how to say “I need some space” without hurting his feelings in some way.
Her relationship with her parents has been strained since her pregnancy at the age of sixteen. Mr. and Mrs. Fortescue, who have pretty much always pampered her and made sure that she was well taken of, were never really fond of Frank, despite his pureblood status. Although they still contact her and make sure she’s okay, they’ve never really warmed up to their son-in-law, to Alice’s never-ending disappointment. Still, perhaps the most notable difference between the parents and their child is that there are more awkward silences than ever. They never expected their girl to end up becoming a tough, take-no-nonsense Auror, and she always expected they’d open up to the idea and embrace it eventually, but there’s really been no proper progress, unfortunately. She’s doted on and loved by Frank’s parents, but it’s just not the same.
[ During her Hogwarts years, Alice was a very enthusiastic member of the Frog Choir. She auditioned every year and finally made it her third year, staying all the way until she graduated. She’s been told she has a lovely singing voice and Professor Flitwick even suggested she go into a career in singing opera. She also knows enough piano to crudely accompany herself as she sings. ]
→ S E X U A L I T Y , R O M A N T I C O R I E N T A T I O N , A N D G E N D E R I D E N T I T Y ;
Alice has always been anything but promiscuous or intense when it comes to love. If anything, since her younger years, she’s always wished for her Prince Charming, particularly after stumbling across a muggle book about fairy tales and some odd lass called Cinderella. She was always the one in class who’d poke her quill into her cheek, daydreaming about a beautiful future with her handsome husband and their small cottage (of course, this only occurred after her work was complete and she wasn’t in danger of being caught by a moody professor) and her honorable title as an Auror. With her parents often calling their young daughter “princess”, it seemed to only further fuel her idea that her ideal man would come into her life soon, and sweep her clean off her feet, just like in her muggle fairy tales.
Despite her look at love, Alice has never exclusively liked men only. Before Frank, she had her fair share of crushes, no matter their gender; to her, it was their personality that mattered most. She never acted on any of them in fear of being rejected or being shoved to the side, so her love life had been rather dull until Frank came into the picture. She has always had quite an innocent mindset when it comes to love, often only expressing romantic thoughts rather than sexual ones. She currently sees herself as a biromantic demisexual, and is a cis female.
→ E V E R Y T H I N G E L S E ;
Alice had a rainbow-variety of pets during her years of Hogwarts — and every single one, no matter the gender, had a magically-clipped (so as not to hurt the animal or risk losing it) bow on the side of his head. It became a bit of a running gag that one could always tell which animal was Alice’s because of the very obvious pastel-colored bow on the poor pet’s head. Despite that, however, Alice doted on animals and still likes them very much to this day, but doesn’t want to get one in fear that she won’t be able to dedicate enough time to care for the animal properly, despite Frank’s support and encouragement (and his own desire for one, really).
A little bit of a “guilty pleasure” she indulges in every day is her warm coffee every morning, with milk and a bit of sugar. No matter the heat or cold, it’s common fact among her friends that no one should ever try to tear Alice away when she’s in the middle of drinking her cup of coffee. She even has her special, notably large mug that she takes with her everywhere. Sometimes, she indulges in some late night coffee, particularly when working overtime, but that’s rarely. She just loves her coffee, really, and it’s probably the only thing she’s very particular about.
Alice is, unfortunately, very messy. It’s only with a very certain few things that she actually bothers to be clean and neat, but her desk over at the Auror’s office would give just about anyone something short of a heart attack, as would her study at home. However, she has this thing where she knows exactly where a certain paper or item is, no matter the mess. She’s much more organized than she seems, she’ll promise you.
Children terrify her. Or, at least, the thought of having one makes her extremely uncomfortable. She doesn’t get along with children very well either (most of them are kind, but she gets panicky around them), which her friends find hilarious, but they don’t really know the deep-seated fear she has of motherhood. With the impending and unpreventable pregnancy that’s happening to her, she knows she’s going to have to face her (in her opinion, dumb) fear, but for now, she’d rather wallow in her little puddle of misery for as long as possible.
The exact details of how Alice came about knowing how to defend herself using hand-to-hand combat has always been a mystery — even to Frank, who often asks her. But, really, the details aren’t too exciting: a year before graduating Hogwarts, Alice made friends with a scrappy brute from Slytherin (who, at the time, she hadn’t realized had a crush on her) who promised to teach her how to fight using her hands if she hung out with him. He was an outcast due to his muggleborn origins, and having always been a rather nice girl, she accepted his terms. Whenever schoolwork gave her some leeway and a date with Frank over at Hogsmeade wasn’t in the horizon, she made her way to meet the year-younger student outside, by the plains of Hogwarts, to practice fighting. She was horrid to begin with, but by the time she graduated, not only did she make a good friend, but she could carry herself well enough. She still practices, but prefers to head down to a muggle boxing gym she’s become familiar with, preferring having padding over her hands while punching instead of going in with nothing.
Despite her tough exterior, Alice is eternally loyal to those that she holds close and dear. If somewhere were to even think about hurting someone like Frank or Dorcas, they’d find themselves with a wand pointed straight for their throat, a spell dying to spill out of her mouth. Losing people she’s close to has (and always will) impact[ed] her hard; whenever it happens, despite its rarity, she spends a couple of days in a dark mood, preferring to keep to herself instead of interacting with others and being her usual sunshine-y self. And, as it turns out, she’s not an idle person. If she were to find out who was responsible for the death of her friend or family member, there’s no stopping her from going to said person and finishing them herself.
Alice barely knows her way around a broomstick. She knows enough to fly upward, stay steady and descend, but her landings are usually rough and leave her with some bruises afterwards. More often than not, she struggles to stay on her broom in the middle of chasing a wayward criminal. It’s not that she’s afraid of heights or anything (but she should be, considering how half of the time, she can barely hang on to her broom for dear life), but she always spent most of her time dedicated to her studies, not learning how to fly. She prefers to apparate when she can, but being an Auror usually requires her to suck it up. One day she’ll ask Frank to teach her proper, perhaps.
Alice is a small thing; she’s 5'0" on the dot, and pretty much stopped growing at the age of fifteen. It’s never been a sore topic for her, really, but since she’s small in height, she’s also small in size. It’s a bit of a complicated thing since it’s been intercepting her ability to actually cause some real damage when fighting hand-to-hand combat as of late, so she got it in her head that if she ate more, she’d gain more. Needless to say, it’s not working, but for a while she thought the bump in her belly two weeks ago was from weight gain, not a child, which is why it took her a little longer than expected to realize she was pregnant. She’s pretty sure Frank’s on to her, but if he has any suspicions, he hasn’t said anything, thankfully.
As a hard working Auror, sometimes, she doesn’t know when to leave work at — well, work. Sometimes she’ll come home late at night and lay in bed, thinking of all the people she failed because she didn’t catch the bad guy in time. Night terrors wake her up at night and torment her enough that darkness has turned into something terrifying for her. She sleeps with a small candle on her end table and often tried to sleep before Frank does, but that rarely happens. He doesn’t know about her night terrors, nor does he know about her growing guilt, and she plans to keep it that way. The last thing she needs, or wants, is Frank telling her that it might be best that she renounced her title as an Auror just because of a few silly nightmares. She’ll get over it… right?
→ A D D I T I O N A L F I L E S ;
B O G G A R T ; Since her night terrors began, her fear of darkness has started to manifest itself via her boggart. Alice usually sees a tall, cloaked figure, covered from head-to-toe in a very dark cloak. When Riddikulus is cast, her boggart turns into a muggle clown, one of the many things she finds amusing.
A M O R E N T I A ; Alice’s amorentia is composed of the smell of hot chocolate, coffee, parchment paper, pine and masculine cologne.
P A T R O N U S ; The stork. The irony is most definitely not lost on her.

Cute Bruiser — Alice’s aggressiveness plays off on this well; when her wand is out of reach, she’s not afraid to use her (probably bruised) hands to fight back if needed. Most wizards depend on their wands to fight, but when it’s gone? Let’s just say Alice’s chances of winning go up considerably. Fighting usually gives her an adrenaline boost, so it’s expected that she might be a bit “hyper” or “excited” afterwards. Either way, she’s a tiny witch who can pack a punch without a second thought, and her impulsivity only adds on it. It’s just… unexpected, to say the least.
Tomboy with a Girly Streak — Having grown as a pampered child, Alice was considered quite the girly-girl in her early years, with her innocent curiousity and long, puffy dresses that she liked to run around in. Once puberty, magic and her social life kicked in, however, she likes to think she matured considerably, although that’s debatable. Now, she dresses just as prettily (although maybe not as modest as before), but she’s just not quite as emotional as she used to be. If anything, stoic is a close word to describe how she usually is when she’s not at work or with friends, and even then, you won’t hear Alice dare get too sentimental. She endures most gestures that involve such things, but she’s not exactly a softie for any of it, really. It hasn’t been until recently that her work has started to affect her, particularly late at night, when she’s trying to get some sleep, but instead of confronting it, she’s doing her best to ignore it.
Plucky Girl — It goes without saying that the main reason Alice was chosen for Gryffindor was because of the undeniable bravery she had, even before she ever had the opportunity to prove it. She’s an optimist by nature, often with a smile at the ready, and when it comes to being brave, she might just be the first witch her friends and co-workers would turn to. Her bravery might even be confused as rash, but it’s very real and very present. Her optimism, while genuine, has started to slowly disintegrate, what with her night terrors and all, but she’s fighting through it to the best of her ability.
Wide-Eyed Idealist — Kicking off adulthood with her newly-bestowed job as an Auror as a fresh Hogwarts graduate, Alice was most definitely a “Wide-Eyed Idealist” at the start. She believed herself unstoppable, ready to take down a bad guy at a moment’s notice, and while she still does that mindset, she’s been maturing at a slow rate, her optimism dropping a notch or two. Sure, she does retain some of her child-like innocence and attitude and isn’t ashamed of it, but she’s developed a stern black-and-white view of the world thanks to her job as an Auror.
The Ace — Excelling in life is something that Alice was groomed to do since the beginning of her life, really. As the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Fortescue, they wanted their daughter to have nothing but the best, and to be nothing but the best. She’s a fluent bilingual speaker (English and French; she’s even looking into Russian) and had a governess at quite a young age, who helped Alice develop early study habits that she later grew to excel. Alice isn’t the bragging sort in any way, nor is she the best at everything she does, but it’s been ingrained in her since an early age that she has to try her best in everything she does, including her job as an Auror. It’s not even a matter of making her parents proud of her anymore, but a matter of making herself proud. She’s a perfectionist, if you will, but it’s not obvious unless you’ve been around her for quite some time.

COLOR : Pink, pink and more pink. Oh, and pastels… occasionally.
WEATHER : Cloudy days. As much as she enjoys sun every now and then, there’s nothing like cloudy days with a cool breeze flowing to and fro.
MUSIC : Alternative indie music is her favorite, but sometimes, she indulges in some rock as well. It’s good music to dance to while reading some boring paperwork that takes up hours of her day.
SCENT : Vanilla. The only perfumes she’s ever bought always smell like french vanilla with a faint mixture of flowers. It’s the main way to identify her, really. She also really likes the smell of Frank… for her, it’s like coming home.
BEVERAGE : Coffee, hands down. Iced or hot, it doesn’t matter to her, as long as it’s delicious.
FOOD : Alice loves sweets the most. Delicacies such as cauldron cakes and vanilla shakes should not be left around unsupervised — otherwise, it might be gone before you know it.
ANIMAL : Rabbits. Although really, she doesn’t have favorites, considering the different animals she’s had the past few years, but she’s endeared herself most to rabbits in particular.

It's someone who already has apps, which is why I don't want to hold you up. Like I said, no worries! :)
Oh no! Alright, we’re awfully sorry. I’m about to start sending out acceptance messages, so please let me know once you get yours, reply to it. I mean, we definitely encourage everyone who didn’t get a role to reapply anyway, but I would definitely like to know who you are if you’re comfortable.
No worries, then! I already have an app submitted and was just writing one for a second character.
Is the second character one of the ones with applications? Or one of the four still on the app count? Because if they’re Emmeline, Peter, or Regulus, then you have plenty of time to send in another application!
