Description of why they are similar:
The articles I have chosen express similar viewpoints on the research topic of technology with young children.
According to Crystal & Shu Hui (2010) in post one, they say technology in today’s world has made a great impact on us, even in the lives of young children. There are a number of positive impacts of technology such as, physical development as fine motor skills are develop when children are typing or playing with their fingers while they also develop eye-hand coordination as in typing and looking at the screen the same time. Intellectual development, as young children are developing their cognitive skills when they solve problems in the computer programs. It can help them to understand the properties of new objects and discover the interaction between things and see the predictability of cause and effect. Language development, as young children are developing their language skills they tend to use rice language when talking to peers, creating pictures, dictating stories and listening to programs that talk. Emotional development, as young children are able to enhance their emotions whereby self-expression and mastering skills help them to develop a strong sense of self confidence. When children are able to complete the task, they feel good about themselves and it boosts their confidence and self-esteem level. Moreover, social development, young children are able to develop their social skills with computer programs that encourage cooperative play. Young children negotiate turn talking and use group dynamics to solve problem.
As well as the article by Roxby (2013) in post two shows research from the University of Wisconsin, found that children aged between two and three were more likely to respond to video screens that prompted children to touch them than to a video screen that demanded no interaction. According to some experts, young children who are interacting with the screen and help them learn much faster and make fewer mistakes.
Good computer programs can help young children with learning difficulties develop the skills they are lacking. Technology also helps them to learn how to develop eye-hand coordination and social and emotional development helps them to build self confidence and interact with others.
According to both articles, they have similar viewpoints because they show a positive side of the use of technology in young children. I strongly believe that technology can be beneficial for learning, and also it helps to improve toddler’s motor skills. For example; pushing keys or to learn to type some alphabets. As the results in good eye-hand coordination is important, much like to become very skilled in later stages when using scissors, or putting together a tricky a puzzles or sewing.

Post 2: Advantage and Disadvantages of Technology to Young Children
Description of why they are different:
The articles I have chosen expresses different viewpoints on the research topic of technology with young children.
According to Deloatch (2015) in post one, it has several negative influences on young children’s development. It changes the way young children think because using technology can change a child’s brain. Some Experts says that the use of technology can change the actual wiring of the brain. More than a third of children under the age of two use mobile media. Young children who use too much technology may not have enough opportunities to use their imagination or to read and think deeply about the material they see or read. Technology also changes the way children feel. Using technology can affect a child’s ability to empathize. Overuse of technology can also affect a child’s own mood. One expert explained that with less physical contact, children might have difficulties with social skills and emotional reaction.
Furthermore, technology can put privacy and safety at risk. Sometimes parents do not monitor what young children are searching with mobile media and can accidently lead to ending up in adult web sites.
Moreover, the use of technology with less physical activity can lead to obesity. Childhood obesity is on the rise, technology may be to blame because as young children use more technology, less physical outdoor activities are played.
However, according to the second article by umar01, he also said that using too much technology can lead to addiction and poor social interaction. Children exposed too much to screens can get addicted to the technology and a child may grow up be a little to cold to emotion. They may have less family time which is important in socialising later on.
Furthermore, it can lead to children lacking appreciation of their environment and ignore the nature around them. For example, children need to make their hands dirty in the mud, and figure out how to stable blocks so they do not tumble down. On the other hand, Umar01 said that technology improves toddler’s motor skills such as pushing keys and moving a mouse is valuable working or doodling. In addition, it makes a child technologically literate.
According to both articles, there are negative side effects in introducing children to technology. However, one of the articles also points out the positive side effects of technology. The similarity in both articles undoubtedly is that the use of technology should have wise limited time. For example, the time suggested were to let children use a device for no more than 20 minutes daily as well as supervision needed. I also agree that alternatives to technology like social interaction with other children are important for them to develop their social skills.
