28.12.17 // 27/100 Days of productivity - Is been about a month since I’ve been a bit out of Tumblr because of finals but I’m officially back! I finally got my room painted white and I’m loving the results, my study space looks better than ever!
All the journals I made and filled in 2017
quick tips for research papers
triple check the original assignment/handout that you got from your teacher and make sure you have included everything that they mentioned you need to include. some teachers like to nitpick little things, so don’t give them any reason to mark you down.
quotes. use them. they make you sound scholarly, they prove that you actually did your research, and they help up your word count. even if they aren’t required, use them.
remember. to. cite. your. sources. cite both your research, any quotes you used, and any pictures you included. for quotes, quote them in the paragraph and in a works cited page. if it’s a long and formal thesis paper (like an IB EE), cite them in footnotes of the page and in a works cited page. for pictures, cite directly under the picture (in a smaller font) as well as in your works cited page.
plan out your time. when will you have all your research done by? when will you finish the rough draft? when will you edit?
it will take longer than you think it will. so start sooner rather than later.
have a friend edit your paper. when you’ve been staring at a paper for too long you’ll accidentally skip over grammatical errors.
don’t plagiarize. just don’t do it. you know better.
keep track of each source you use, otherwise making the works cited page will take ages.
if you have to use books and scholarly articles for your research, use google scholar. it’s google, but it only show you books, scholarly articles, and legal documents.
use wikipedia, but use it sparingly and do. not. cite. it. wikipedia is a good resource for your understanding of a new topic. it’ll help you get the general idea of what you’re researching. but don’t use it for much more than that.
use the links/sources at the bottom of wikipedia to help you find relevant and credible information regarding your topic.
they suck up a lot of time. usually they’re boring and you don’t want to do them. but remember that you absolutely have the ability to get an A on them. don’t let them stress you out too much. it’s doable. you can do it. you got this.
🗻 November Monthly Spread! 🗻 I was really feeling mountains and was not feeling colors, so here we are with mountains and no colors. Can’t believe my last fall semester as an undergrad is almost over 😞
