"tell me about it." she mumbles, tired, dark eyes watching the haughty woman storm out of the otherwise empty shop, knocking over a small hat rack on her way. sammy doesn't bother going to fix it. annoyed as she gets with the karens and musty old creeps who drift in on occasion, it's not enough to penetrate the layer of exhaustion that keeps her dim and dull.
instead of anything productive, she just plucks one of the grimy sodas out of the cooler and cracks it open, perching on the stool behind the register. "doesn't matter. the desert'll sort her out. it doesn't matter how 'important' you are when the storm rolls in." speaking of. she twists to peer out of the window behind her. the lot is mercifully empty except for the angry woman still throwing a fit in her car.
in the distance, over sand hills and jagged rocks, a dark cloud of brown and red is swallowing the horizon. "better lock up for a bit, in fact. can't let anyone else in when it gets here."
He watched her leave with the clerk, a nonchalant gaze as he watched her storm out. With the way she speaks about the rather irritating would-be customer who stormed out of the store, he canโt help but crack a hint of a smirk. Itโs been a long time since he saw somebody actually bite back at arrogance, instead most would rather recoil, and try to appease the snapping jaws of hypocrites who just wanted to make noise. Itโs refreshing, truly.
Though the stormโฆ he was old, older than most, and had survived many things; but he knew it was better to take shelter than be a fool and try to brave a storm. Especially since he drove his motorcycle here, which he hoped would have ample cover after he got the gas he needed. Instead, he opts to stay inside. Hopefully itโd be quick though, he hates lingering in one place for too long if itโs unfamiliar for him.
He looks out the window once again, this time at the sky, and what was coming look rather nasty. "Guess I'm sticking around until this passes then, if you don't mind." not that he needed permission, he was gonna stay regardless, he was just being surprisingly polite.
considering what most anarchs in the anarch movement think of barons overall, i think a lot of kindred around the santa monica dislike niko, and call him a hypocrite but tolerate him like they do for the other barons around the anarch free states. like, im pretty sure at one point somebody would've called him a "prince with all but title."
