Pro(ana)logue

Pro(ana)logue is the first exhibition of its kind, showcasing what professional photographers can achieve with analogue film cameras in their "playground". These cameras may be deemed as a toy to many but when placed in the right hands, they can be a powerful creative tool used to capture priceless moments and ignite emotions.

lomokino strobe test

shot with studio strobe and pocket wizard. set the studio strobe to the minimum setting to ensure fast recharge. the strobe fires every time the shutter open.

2nd cam test with the lomokino. here are my findings 1) manage to get 150 frames with 1 roll if loaded probably 2) I try to play with the speed of the hand crank. I ramp up the speed to very fast. in the middle the huge camera shake is the result of the fast hand crank speed. so in actual shoot have to keep it turned down a bit. 3) also i notice that when I crank fast. the individual frame become skewed. this is probably because of the traveling of the film when the shutter is still open. should be solved when I slow down the cranking speed by a notch. 4) also notice something when I scan the film strip, it have to be very flat else the film warp will result in a fluttering effect on the video. 5) total process for 1 roll of b&w...half hour to scan at 2400dpi..(expect longer for color)... and 1.5 hour to crop with photoshop action for resizing and saving. 6) last but not least, the lens on the lomokino flare like crazy. that explains the low contrast on the video. note to self..increase contrast in post or shoot away from sun! shot with lomography lomokino, lucky shd100, f11, ilford ddx

扫墓二 － "sweeping" the tomb deuce

the family gathers for a once a year event where we go back to our home town and visit the tomb of my grandparents. here we weed, clean and scrub the tombstone before offering prayers and incense to them and seek blessing for the coming year

somehow 清明 is always one of the hottest and most scorching day of the year. guess its haven's way to make us suffer so as to show our filial piety.

with the 120 format you need not load and unload the film in total darkness due to paper backing but you will still need do it under subdued lighting.
