Where Is Piggy Island Located?

If you ever wondered where on Earth islands like Piggy Island are located in the Angry Birds world, we actually have an answer.

In the Angry Birds Rio Trailer which does seem to be regarded as canon, we see the Piggy Island is located somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.

The Angry Birds Are Rare

So something that is established in the Angry Birds Rio Trailer is the Angry Birds are considered a rare species of birds. Also yes, Angry Birds Rio does seem to be canon, similar to how the Angry Birds Cinematic Trailer is canon.

Now the birds being rare does make sense, and would be explained by the conflict between the birds and the pigs over the eggs. Especially given what we know about events such as The Great Battle Of Piggy Forest.

Angry Birds 2 Should Be Canon To The Reloaded Timeline

So something I had brought up in a previous post, is I think Angry Birds 2 should not be considered part of the classic timeline but the reloaded timeline. This is something I think should be considered the case even more so now.

So first off, as I mentioned in that post is King Mudbeard's size makes no sense because he should be huge, just like he is in the Bird Island Episode of Angry Birds Classic. This is even further backed up by the fact the pig hierarchy detail and the only the King Pig can eat eggs detail is still regarded as canon detail for the classic timeline.

Meanwhile, Mudbeard in Angry Birds 2 is no of course so much smaller than even his own son. Also, given what we know about The Great Battle Of Piggy Forest, is extremely unlikely for the birds to ever consider working with King Mudbeard.

Now something else to add on to this is if Angry Birds 2 were to be part of the classic timeline, then it would have to take place alongside the comics with the Shadow event happening alongside Angry Birds Comics Never Meet Your Heroes. By extension we should be seeing Mudbeard hanging out with the birds in the comics and could easily have been asked about the alleged secret stash of eggs. But we never see him.

Now on Mudbeard, he is a permeant part of Angry Birds 2, while Shadow was a temporary event. By extension he would matter more to the canon than an event character. On top of this the Sonic crossovers in the comics are all canon and tie into the plot of the story.

On events, Zeta was also an temporary event character like Eggman was in the Sonic events, and should be considered as canon as another event character. Zeta doesn't fit at all in the classic timeline, but she does fit in the reloaded timeline which mixes the games and movies. On top of that does indeed feature her like it features Mudbeard.

Now back to the Sonic character events. In Angry Birds Two Worlds Collides Part 1 and Part 2, the Angry Birds crossover with Sonic but only seem to go to Sonic's world and not the other way around. Whereas in Angry Birds 2 Sonic comes to their world.

On top of this only the Red, Chuck, and Bomb meet Sonic and his friends. Meanwhile the rest of the flock never do, and the likes of the Blues are confused by their the outfits the 3 birds who met Sonic and friends wear. This conflicts with Angry Birds 2, where the entire flock meet Sonic and get outfits of Sonic's friends.

So this is even more reasons why I think Angry Birds 2 should be in a separate timeline. All that being said, a way to explain the technical 2 crossovers is Sonic and Shadow simply met 2 versions of the Angry Birds. It's not impossible as travel between the various worlds of the Angryverse is established to be possible through one Hektor Porko.

The Bird Island Episode Hypothesis

So in Angry Birds Classic an episode was added titled Bird Island which takes place on well Bird Island features King Mudbeard in it.

Now it's an odd episode to add, especially since the flock has lived their whole life on Piggy Island, and only really dealt with Mudbeard and his forces in The Great Battle Of Piggy Forest.

So here's my hypothesis. I think the birds in this episode aren't the flock flock we are used to seeing, but instead the parents of the current flock. That in a similar manner to the movies King Mudbeard was searching for more eggs and found Bird Island and began stealing eggs, only for this generation of birds which would include Mighty Eagle to fight back.

Now something to note is the older generation of birds did use slingshots. On top of this fact Red's father, and the Blues' ancestors look similar to their descendants. So the birds in this episode being the parents could very well make sense.

From I could see something ends up happening to Bird Island forcing it's inhabitants to move to the other islands such as Golden Island and Piggy Island for example. Then the rest would be history.

The Great Battle Of Piggy Forest

So in Angry Birds Comics Don't Wake Red on page 5 we learn red gets night terrors from the trauma he got from The Great Battle Of Piggy Forest.

Now this battle implies several birds perished during this event leaving only the likes of Red, Bomb, Matilda, Chuck, and the Blues as the remaining survivors. "After The Great Battle Of Piggy Forest ...we we almost lost everyone."......

In this battle Red found the last three remaining eggs, the same ones we see throughout the games and other canon media. "But I found three surviving eggs. Hope, for a generation."......

Now the dialogue implies there are other eggs that didn't survive aka they were taken and likely eaten. This would also mean this battle happened under the reign of King Mudbeard, as King Smooth Cheeks has never eaten an egg before.

From here the birds likely hid the existence of the last 3 eggs very well from King Mudbeard and the pigs as a whole, until the reign of King Smooth Cheeks. Where the new king would learn of the existence of the remaining 3 eggs, as depicted in the cinematic trailer. Written by Eris the Lorekeeper

Hektor Porko's Origin Story

So in Angry Birds Comics Hektor Porko Awakens, we learn Hektor was once a minion pig under the command of King Smooth Cheeks named Harold Gruntly.

After an accident Harold would being flung across the Angryverse seeing the various dimensions such as the classic timeline which is from, the movie timeline, and an Angry Birds Space timeline?

Now that last bit similar to the Angryverse post implies Angry Birds Space is a different timeline. This is something I will go over in a future post, but to make a quick explanation here. I think while Angry Birds Space isn't canon to the classic timeline, similar events to it do happen in the classic timeline.

Back on topic, at the end of Harold's rapid trek across dimensions he changed and became Hektor Porko. By extension is the same Hektor Porko you see in every timeline that has an Angry Birds Space incident.

Only King Pigs Can Eat Eggs

So a fact established in World Of Angry Birds Official Guide on page 12 is only the King Pigs are allowed to eat eggs. "One such ancient law decrees that only the king is allowed to eat eggs.".........

Also, as discussed in a previous post this is because of their size, and the King Pig lineage got so big in the first place is because they ate eggs.

This detail about whose allowed to eat eggs, and pig hierarchy is a fact that remains true in the classic timeline as more recent media has brought up this fact.

In Angry Birds Comics The Royal Weigh-In on page 8 Silver rage baits King Smooth Cheeks over his weight, which is because she has knowledge of the pig hierarchy because of her time living with the pigs.

The characters in this comic overall reference the hierarchy established in the official guide. Silver: "I'm just saying... Only the king can eat an egg, and only the heaviest pig can wear the crown.".......... King Smooth Cheeks: "What does that featherbrain know about royal hierarchy?"...........

It is also a detail mentioned in Angry Birds Comics 1 Operation Omelette in King Smooth Cheeks' description.

The Angryverse

So awhile back Rovio released an image depicting the Angryverse showing various universes such as the classic and movie timeline.

Something interesting about the Angryverse is Angry Birds Space is considered a separate universe. Which I think could very likely be the case, but I'll explain in a future pst.

That being said I would say like any official video game canon or primarily timelines as I am thinking, one could contest such a thing an argue for more or less universes.

I myself would argue Angry Birds 2 should be part of the reloaded timeline and not the classic timeline. This is something I have brought up in a previous post of mine, and I intend to further expand upon in a future post based on new information.

Zeta Is Canon To Angry Birds 2?

So here's an a interesting detail, in Angry Birds 2 there was an event where Zeta took over King Pig Panic as the boss.

While this was a movie tie-in promo bit, it is likely as canon as the Sonic and Shadow events in Angry Birds 2, which from the way Rovio treats them are canon.

Said crossover includes the likes Eggman as a boss that overtook King Pig Panic.

The Angry Birds Trilogy

So here's a fact. The Angry Birds Trilogy is a combinations of 3 games, Angry Birds Classic, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio.

The last one is a interesting detail, because while some dismiss Angry Birds Rio as an taking place in an alternate universe, it was included in the classic trilogy of games Written by Eris the Lorekeeper

The Blue's Ancestors

So a little detail in Angry Birds Toons | The Porktrait - S3 Ep7 is we get to see depictions of the long history of conflict between the birds and the pigs over the eggs.

This history goes back before King Smooth Cheeks learned of the last 3 remaining eggs, sparking the conflict between the pigs and the current flock. Also, it as goes even further back than King Mudbeard's reign.

We get to see a depictions of the King Pigs going after the eggs, the very eggs that have made their lineage so big.

Something interesting is we see depictions of pairs of 3 blue birds throughout the various King Pig reigns, and said birds obviously cannot be the Blues. These birds are likely their ancestors, and this would mean the ancestors of the current flock often had birds their looked similar to their descendants. Written by Eris the Lorekeeper

Red Looks Like His Father

Here's an interesting detail, we get to see a depiction of Red and Ruby's parents in Angry Birds Comics Ruby On Ice on page 11.

Now something noteworthy is red looks rather similar to his parents primarily his father. Separate from that their mother is looks similar to how Ruby used to be depicted as when she was called Girl Bird.

Angry Birds Cinematic Trailer Is Canon

So in The World Of Angry Birds Official Guide on page 44 it is revealed the Angry Birds Cinematic Trailer is actually considered canon.

It is referred to as the day the eggs were stolen, and makes reference to the mosquito specifically and other parts of the trailer. "Red, Chuck, and the Blues were looking after the nest when a mosquito made the mistake of landing on one of the eggs."...... "You see while Red and the others were distracted by the mosquito, a Minion had seen his chance. He pounced pinching the eggs right from under their beaks. Disaster!"...........

This also implies that while there has been a history of conflict between the birds and pigs through King Mudbeard and the other descendants of King Smooth Cheeks who all have eaten eggs. This trailer is the inciting incident between the Flock and King Smooth Cheeks on Piggy Island, and this is the first time King Smooth Cheeks went after the eggs.

Is Angry Birds 2 Canon To The Classic Timeline

So there is a specific detail in Angry Birds 2 that throws people off. This small detail is something I am going to argue could be reason to not place Angry Birds 2 in the Classic Timeline, but a separate timeline.

So as established in a previous post, in the classic timeline the King Pig royal line is huge due to the family having eaten eggs in the past. With King Smooth Cheeks as established on page 13 of The World Of Angry Birds Official Guide, it the only King Pig to have never eaten an egg before. "The present king, Smooth Cheeks, has never, ever eaten any eggs. He inherited the Piggy throne from his father, King Mudbeard."..............

King Mudbeard is implied to have been a competent King Pig, and likely was able to eat some eggs given the details we get from page 105. "Things were better in the good old days. Mudbeard was a real king, not like our current slobbering lord and master."..........

One final thing to bring up is in Angry Birds Classic, in the special prequel episode titled Bird Island that was added to promote the movie, in which King Mudbeard actually shows up in it. In episode he is depicted as being around the same size as his son, which makes sense given everything we've previously established.

So with all that being said, on the main detail. In Angry Birds 2 Mudbeard aka Leonard is much much much smaller than his own son, and his depiction in the Angry Birds Classic.

He is only a bit bigger that Red, and is around the size of Bomb in Angry Birds 2. Because of this I would like to argue Angry Birds 2 is not canon to the Classic Timeline but instead the Reloaded Timeline. This is because in Angry Birds Reloaded Leonard is depicted as being around the same size as his Angry Birds 2 depiction.

Now a detail about Angry Birds Reloaded is it combines Angry Birds Classic, Angry Birds Space, and the Angry Birds movies all into one timeline. With Mudbeard being the one behind Poached Eggs and Angry Birds Space, instead of Smooth Cheeks.

By extension Leonard is never successful in eating any eggs himself. So if the size lore detail is true in this timeline, then it makes sense for Leonard to not be huge. As there is no history of King Pigs growing in size from eating Eggs, and he would have only recently found the eggs.

And if the lore is not true, then Leonard can just simply be small and Smooth Cheeks simply be huge.

Also, Angry Birds 2 taking place after Angry Birds Reloaded would create some explanation on why Leonard is working with the Birds. This because in Reloaded, Leonard while antagonistic and does try to steal the eggs multiple time can and does get along with the flock.

Thus making him more likely to work with them, say if he was overthrown by his own son. Or heck maybe overthrown by a Smooth Cheeks who isn't even his relative.

It's also not like there Angry Birds 2 has to be a can sequel as the game title names don't reflect their game order. As in Angry Birds Seasons would be the actual sequel to Angry Birds Classic. Meanwhile Angry Birds Space is considered a seperate timeline from the Classic Timeline.

So yeah, that's my reasoning on why I think Angry Birds 2 should be considered part of the Reloaded Timeline as opposed to the Classic Timeline. Written by Eris the Lorekeeper

Why Are The King Pigs So Big?

So a fact that should be obvious is the King Pigs in Angry Birds such as King Smooth Cheeks and King Mudbeard are significantly larger than most other pigs. There is actual a lore reason why this is.

So in The World Of Angry Birds Official Guide on page 12 we learn the hierarchy is primarily based on size, with the largest pigs having the most importance. The King Pigs and their descendants are the size they are because they had eaten eggs, which apparently made their lineage huge. "The larger you are, the more important you are. The great Piggy kings of the past grew to enormous size by eating eggs."..........

Now an extra fact is King Smooth Cheeks has has never eaten an egg before. "These aren't any eggs in my royal chamber. I've never even tasted an egg."........

Are Sonic Crossovers Canon?

The answer is yes. But you may be asking how?

Well as established in a previous post I mead about the phrase "everything is canon," I discussed how Puyo Puyo is canon and I said it was because of dimensional travel.

This is something we are seeing be straight up stated in the recent Sonic & DC Crossover Comic. In the comic itself mentioning going beyond the the dc character's multiverse, alongside the synopsis for the comic mentioning the characters crossing dimensions. Alongside that the comic itself refers to Sonic Dimension as Earth.

This is something the also made clear in the Angry Birds and Sonic Crossover as well, when Eggman and Shadow went to the Angry Birds' dimension.

But this is something they made clear for awhile when it came to crossovers, as we know the Olympic Games are canon and they actual give us the answer how they are. In Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games Toad states the contenders are "from the world of Mario & Sonic." Written by Eris the Lorekeeper
