Going to the lake for a party sounded like fun, though he was sad that he couldn’t bring his sailboat to at least sail around…but when his eyes fell to the kayak, his lips turned up into a huge smile. It wasn’t his huge sailboat, but he’ll deal with it. So he went over to the kayaks, grinning from ear to ear and rubbing his hands together as he went over. “A good day to be in the water,” he mused to himself, humming as he picked up his small boat and went to the water. “I bet I can row all the way to the edge then come right on back without tiring myself.” he challenged with a happy smile. 

“I think I’ll stick with on the water,” Pim mused to Val, she had enough trouble acclimating to the general air temperature living above the arctic circle, swimming was something she wasn’t even going to attempt. A grin spread across her face as he made the challenge and she nodded. “You’re on,” she said, biting down on her lip as she looked at the myriad of kayaks lying about. “In fact, why don’t we make it a race?”

Pim was absolutely ecstatic for the beach party. Sure the shoreline of Khatanga’s lake was nothing compared to a tropical Thai beach, but it was as good as summer could get in Russia and she was surrounded by friends, sun, and fun activities. While she hadn’t braved swimming she had done the float and some kayaking and now set her sights on what she thought was the best one yet. The paint fight.

Ready to go there was a mischievous glint in her eyes as she dipped a brush into a nearby pot. Quickly she took aim, before flicking the thick mass at what she hoped was an unsuspecting victim. “Oooh, gotcha good!”

Klaus heard what she had to say about herself and just shook his head. “You may think that,” he began, his tone slow and even. “But if you do, you will refrain from saying those self-deprecating words in my presence, for I will not allow it,” he told her with finality, declaring over a discussion that hadn’t even begun. “The more you focus on what you think are your negative aspects, the more they will take root inside your mind, preventing you from showing off the best you might have to offer. So, while I’m away, I want you to think about three things you believe are your strongest suits. And one of them has to be something physical,” he gave her an exercise as he excused himself.

“First, thank you for your willingness. I must say, the conversation we’d had stayed on my mind a lot,” he explained, and it was true. He had mulled over her admission for far longer than he would have wished until he decided he could do something about it. Draping an arm casually over his knee, he turned his light brown gaze towards the princess. “Second: you wouldn’t have come if you hadn’t thought there would be something in this for you, right?”

Pim couldn’t help but blink up at the man, mouth slight ajar as he firmly told her off for her comments. She had always been a stick, a trait that was seen as ideal amongst other women in Thailand. Amongst the men though, not quite so much. “Aye aye captain,” she replied, saluting him as he walked off. It was hard to try and keep her mind focused on his task and more than once she found it wandering before he returned.

“It did?” She questioned, pausing with his second point before shrugging her shoulders. She hadn’t exactly come with great demands for anything, more in response to his note. Pim smiled at him though, holding up a finger. “Also, my points are my positivity, my tree climbing, and my eyes.”

“We can make a bet,” he answered. “How about…twenty bucks to see if we can guess how many windows are in one building?” Valentin offered, a cheesy grin on his face. When Pim asked if she could be the Queen of Pranks, he nodded. “Oh yeah, you can totally be Queen of Pranks-that would be the perfect title for you, and no one can take the titles away from us.”

“Oh it’s on Val!” Pim cried, before falling into serious thought, her brow twitching as she did so. “Hmm I think it’s over a thousand. I’m going to say one thousand and forty-two.” Her expression fell away at his agreement on titles to be replaced with one of pure joy. “Oh goodie! What would our first decrees be?”

“They ease sore muscles, I know that much. I just admittedly do not understand the science between how,” the woman clarified. “But I have heard many people swear by them, including a nanny of mine when I was growing up. I do no use it often as I do not enjoy baths outside of certain circumstances but I always keep it on hand as it can be quite helpful,” Cassandra explained. “Of course I do not mind! Perhaps we can return to the castle together and I can give you the bag.”

“That is my hope as well,” she replied with a faint smile. “I know from Alexi that this has happened before but it doesn’t happen very often at all.”

“I guess the how doesn’t really matter, as long as it works,” Pim mused, tapping her chin thoughtfully with a finger. She off-handedly thought to herself to try Googling it, but in reality she knew she would have forgotten all about it by the time she got back to her room. “Me neither, I get too bored too quickly. But I think in these circumstances I can definitely make an exception.”

With the mention of Alexi Pim’s eyes lit up and she bounced slightly on the spot. “Oh! Are you friends with Alexi too?!”

“It depends,” he shrugged. “Since the variation in light here has been subtle to nonexistent, once I was happy,” Hunter trailed off, assuming she would know where this was heading. “Be my guest,” he held the camera out for her, removing the strap from around his neck. He wasn’t someone who often shared his work— especially not while it was still in the making —but this couldn’t hurt. Besides, it would give him some time to shake off the cramps on his fingers. As she spoke, Hunter brought his eyes forward to the group of people helping out. “Necessity sometimes has a way of doing that, doesn’t it?”

“There’s no variation?” Pim quizzed, looking around herself as if for the first time. Normally she wouldn’t pay attention to something like that, unless it was bright enough for her to try and find her sunglasses. She was distracted by the movement of his camera as he passed it for her to inspect. Seeing how precious it was to Hunter she cradled it gently in her lap, pressing the button to move across. “I suppose it does, a bit like sink or swim?”

“All of this hard work and it will not tire you?” He raised an eyebrow at the Thai princess, not sure if he believed that possible. It wasn’t like she was used to it and her body was going to be sore by the end of the day. “You will at least need to rest your muscles, miss Pim.” He sent her another smile as he continued picking up pieces to discard. “Where do you get all of your energy from anyway? You must eat a lot to keep you sustained but I need some tips these days.” His own energy levels were pretty much tapped out at this point so any help he could get he would take.

“Oh, this work should. Normally I’m not really tired at the end of the day though,” Pim commented, tilting her head slightly as she raised an arm. “Do you think I might get some muscles from this Lexi?” When he asked the question she shrugged, bending to try and dig a piece of rubble from the ground. “I don’t know, I’ve just always had it. But yes I do! I regularly get second helpings at dinner, and you always have to have dessert.” She wasn’t sure it was the best advice, but it wasn’t as if she had any true known method.

Whenever she was buried in her work, it was like a thin veil of focus surrounded Wren’s head. There was a certain calmness whenever she did this, a serene look on her face as her fingers worked to put together concoctions that would heal her clients in whatever way they needed. The downside to the hyper-focus was that she often didn’t know what was going on around her; anyone could walk into the shop and do anything and she probably wouldn’t notice at all. Wren’s mother had told her on multiple occasions that this trait would be her downfall, but as her slender fingers worked to crush some lavender leaves with a mortar and pestle, it was hard to see how it could ever be a bad thing. There was a quiet calm about Wren as she worked, and some may even say that was a sight to behold in its own right. 

However, she could feel a pair of eyes on her, and while Wren normally wouldn’t let it bother her, it was making her skin crawl. “I would ask if there’s something on my face, but I already know the answer to that,” she began, brown eyes lifting to meet the other person’s gaze. “Can I help you with something?”

The recent events in Khatanga definitely hadn’t put Pim off her usual trips into the village, and if anything the slowly warming weather encouraged her more. One place she always stopped at without fail when she went down was the chocolate shop, but aside from that she tended to wander, entering shops and cafes as they took her fancy. By now every shop owner and workers more than knew her by name and she had definitely made an effort to learn theirs.

Her clean up efforts around the castle and village had seen her finish her pot of muscle soothing balm, and so the apothecary was on her list to visit that day. When she entered Wren was working steadily and Pim couldn’t help but watch, rolling from her heels to the balls of her feet as she did so. When the girl finally realised Pim gave her a big grin. “Are you sure you know the answer? Do you remember the last time you touched your face?” She quizzed. “I need some more soothing balm, I’m all out.”

He grinned and took a sip of his water, listening. He nodded, chuckling and agreeing with her. “It is. I can go to sleep just looking at the many windows and the walls and knowing about which ruler did wish and all that. I rather pull so many pranks that no one can stop me-annd maybe be crowned the King of Pranks.”

“Well I mean I guess that could work. You could also count exactly how many windows the likes of the castle has. Hmm, maybe we should take bets?” It was a sudden thought that struck Pim, but the answer would have to wait until a very boring day. With the mention of King of Pranks she grew excited, bouncing slightly on the spot. “Ohh what a goal! Do you think I could be the queen of pranks? That’s the only Queen I’d like to be.”

Hearing Pim’s voice, Alexi felt the tension in his shoulders start to melt a little. Something about the Thai princess always seemed to relax him for some reason. Maybe it was her playful nature or how kind she had always been to him no matter the situation, something he was noticing at that very moment as well, but either way he seemed to be able to let go of some of his frustration. “It could be, yes. I did not think about that.. I was just trying to get it off the hinges.”

At least someone seemed to have a level head here. He gave the young princess a small smile before he moved to find the axe, the tool having been buried under some other wood that had been discarded. Walking back to the door, he gave Pim a once over before indicating she could take it from him if she wanted. “You ever use one of these?”

Might not have been the smartest decision. Giving royalty something that could easily hurt them if they didn’t use it correctly might have been asking for disaster but despite her mischievous ways Lexi had always trusted Pim to know her limits and that extended to what work she felt she could do too. “I can teach you how to hold it correctly if you want.”

“Well...” Pim started, moving towards him and the door and placing her hands on her hips as she came to a standstill beside them. “I definitely think you got it off the hinges.” Her tone lacked any kind of conviction that might have come from someone else, instead stating it rather matter-of-factly, before turning to watch as he walked off momentarily.

She hadn’t necessarily thought that he would actually retrieve an axe, but seeing it in his hand made her face light up. “I can’t say I have,” she replied, reaching out to grip the handle tightly and take it from him. “Yes please. And don’t worry, if anything happens my parents will probably thank you for relieving them of the burden.”

It was a joke, mostly and she took the tool with both hands, holding it level with her waist as she waited for him to correct anything that wasn’t right about her current grip.

Alys’ emotions of grief and sadness ran deep. She had been dealing with it herself for quite sometime and had chosen mostly to keep to herself about the way she had felt. Even her parents didn’t know what went on in her head. And now adding this avalanche and the risk that they may not survive to the mix, put even more weight onto her shoulders. But if it was one thing she had become good at, it was focusing on the things right in front of her to keep her mind from slipping deeper into a state she couldn’t recover from, “Possibly. Or perhaps we take her to the fire place? Maybe she’d understand lighting a fire.”

With the idea Pim’s eyes lit up and she nodded enthusiastically, feeling the innate urge to keep upbeat and continue distracting Alys. Besides, it also worked to keep herself focused and not going too insane. “That’s a brilliant idea! Then we can just mimic lighting it. Alys you’re a genuine!” She cried, bouncing onto the balls of her feet. With that she turned to try and catch the attention of the cottage owner, waving them over even as she wrapped a hand around Alys’ wrist and pulled her to the fireplace.

Music usually helped Touya relax but today it just wasn’t working.

Stepping out of the music room with a soft sigh, Touya started towards his room; maybe a nap would help the distraction. Then again, he was dreading the eventual phone call from his parents wanting him to take a side in this whole thing with Russia and the Netherlands, preferably whatever side they took.

Huffing out a breath as he approached his door, he paused when he saw movement out of the corner of his eye. Turning to face whoever it was, he gave them a small smile. “Hey,” he said.

Pim wouldn’t exactly say she was sneaking around, she just happened to be traversing the halls light footedly while constantly aware of her surroundings. She may or may not have been avoiding one of the maids after sneaking into the staff dining area and placing a whoopie cushion on one of the chairs. That particular staff member wasn’t her specific target, but she had been the one who suffered from it.

She was making her way down one of the more residential halls when she spotted the prince ahead of her, picking up her pace as a smile spread across her face. “Hello Touya, how are you today? You haven’t heard from my mother lately have you?”

Having spent almost the entire night unable to sleep for one reason or another, either too hot, too cold, not comfortable enough, Elias decided it was time to seek out his favourite buddy of the cuddle variety. There was nothing quite like a bit of human contact to lull the prince to sleep, after all.

Looking like he’d been dragged through a hedge backwards, he left his room and headed for Pim’s, hoping he’d find her there. Once he reached her door he gathered enough energy to knock a few times and then whine, “Pim, let me in, I need to nap on your bed while you stroke my hair. It’s an emergency.”

Pim never really slept much, and when she did it was usually light. Five hours a night and she was up again, bouncing off the walls. People often called her crazy for it, but to her it was simply as if her battery never faded beyond 70%, all she needed was a quick recharge to top her up.

She stirred with the knock to her door, rubbing at her eyes sleepily as she listened to the voice on the other side. A grin spread across her face a moment later and she slid out of bed, pottering over to the door and pulling it open. “Never fear, your superhero is here. Come on in Ellie.”

“What are epsom salts?” Cassandra asked, realizing in that moment that she didn’t truly know. She knew what they were in theory, something you put into a bath to help with your sore muscles or aching feet, but she didn’t know what they actually were. A slight frown appeared on her lips. “I do not know,” she admitted. “I know what they are used for but I do not know what they are made of, just that they work,” she explained. “I do have some in my bathroom though if you would like to try them.”

“Nature is one of the few things that man has been unable to conquer,” she muttered. “Science can explain it all but it can not prevent the danger that it can cause. We can only clean up in the aftermath,” she murmured. And then Cassie shook her head. “Forgive me, i get in my head too often. But that is a nice ideal. Help build up with stronger materials perhaps.”

“Oh...well in that case what are they used for? I mean, obviously you put them in the bath, but what do they do?” Pim wondered, she wasn’t sure if it was something well known that she had somehow missed along the way, or whether they simply weren’t common in Thailand. With the knowledge that Cassie had some though, her eyes lit up. “Oh yes please! If you don’t mind of course.”

The Thai Princess nodded along with the other as she spoke, noticing the dreamy tone of someone not quite there. “It’s okay, but I suppose there’s got to be something humans can’t control or we’d be deemed gods instead. But hopefully we can and maybe if it happens again it won’t be so bad.”

He laughed and nodded once for his thanks “I could,” he started. “But then…who would I play pranks with when I’m inside?” Besides, pulling pranks is much better than going into a building and be in awe of everything sometimes bore him. “I’d probably go to sleep the moment everything starts to feel like the same.”

“Well that is a very good question,” Pim replied, pretending to think about it for a moment. “Definitely no one as good as me.” She couldn’t help but let out a slight giggle, before tilting her head. She definitely hadn’t thought about it in enough depth yet. “Oh...you pose a good point. Even if it is physical, repetitiveness is such a bore.”

“Chocolate is food of the Gods, and right now it might be the thing that saves our lives.” She laughed softly as she nibbled on one of the sweet candies. She tucked the other pieces away for later. Not knowing how long they would be in this situation, Alys wanted to savor the candy sparingly. “I don’t care. If it’s a truck load of chocolate you crave in return, it’s yours.” She smiled softly at Pim vowing to honor her agreement when they made it out of here. “Who would have thought that any of us would ever end up in this situation…”

“I think those are two very good points, can I quote you when I make my arguments?” Pim asked, mostly joking. Still, she figured it was the kind of situation that would hopefully distract the other princess from the immediate situation. “What if I want a constant life time supply? You’ll have to order chocolate every day for the rest of your life?” With the comment though the Thai Princess grew a little more seriously, nodding forlornly. “No one I’m betting. The possibility of avalanche definitely wasn’t on my holiday brochure.”

The good thing about the castle having power and heating once more was that inside its walls it was a comfortable temperature. Which meant that she only had to pull on shorts and a t-shirt over her swimmers as she traversed from her room to her destination. She and others had been working so hard on trying to clear and rebuild the castle and village that come that day she had decided they deserved a couple of hours respite.

Which is why she stood in front of Sora’s door, knocking on it loudly. “Come swim with me? I promise I haven’t dyed the pool this time. I mean it’d be a pretty stupid thing to do if I was planning on going in it.”
