So after around 3 weeks of waiting I am now the proud owner of a Honda CRZ and I already know its defiantly a keeper.
The story of how I came to this point starts in December 2016 when I decided to just buy a cheap run around so I bought a 13 year old Corsa, it was an SXI model so that did make me feel slightly better but as a car enthusiast going from a Mk5 Golf GTi it was a comedown for sure. The car was great actually, it ticked all the boxes I had set for it, being cheap runaround but Iād planned to move on maybe mid to late summer until the decision was taken out of my hands.Ā On my way to work I slowed down for an emergency vehicle only for someone not watching hat they were doing to plough right into the back of me and writing the Corsa off.
I immediately start looking for my next car and I used the circumstances as a great excuse to get back into a car which I really wanted. I had started looking at either an E92 BMW 3 series coupe with the 3 litre straight 6 or a 2 litre MK3.5 MX5 but being honest with myself I still needed to have something kind on the wallet as I am still trying to expand my own business. So I was back on auto trader and as I went to select theĀ āPetrolā drop down I sawĀ āHybridā, I thought Iāll give it a try and see what pops up in my budget and there it was, the CRZ.Ā
Its a car I had never really considered before and after doing some reading online it appeared to be the prefect fit! It was cheap to insure, cheap tax, great MPG but more importantly FUN to drive. The next logical step was to go off and try one of these mystical creatures, I thought they can't possible be fun, not fun like my old MR2 roaster was but low and behold it matched the loverly biased forum descriptions perfectly.Ā
I went to view around 5 cars fairly locally ranging from Sport to GT models and one where the dealer had lied about the millage in the tune of 20k, yeah you read that right. I came to the conclusion that I wanted a GT. I know I know there is virtually no difference between the Sport and the GT and I did nearly put a deposit down on a loverly grey Sport model but deep down I knew I wouldn't be satisfied with the Sport, I knew one day I would pull up alongside a smug GT owner and wonder, why oh why did I not keep looking!
This lead me down to the land of the pork pie which is Melton Mowbray. I found my little beauty there, a quick test drive and the deal was done. I had to wait a week for the car to be prepped properly and as a loverly gesture the dealer re pained stone chipped panels (the previous owner clearly not concerned with a safe driving distance) and to their credit the car looked great.Ā
I picked the car up yesterday and oh my days I donāt think Ive stopped smiling :):):):).Ā
