does chuuya still have fishie? better yet, did chuuya get rid of any of dazais gear after dazai left? and how do you think ada dazai would react if he ever got it back?

As far as all the gear he’s collected, he doesn’t get rid of anything (even though the clothes probably no longer fit Dazai). The bottles are clean and eventually pushed way into the back of the cabinets as other dishes are used more frequently. Stuff gets tucked away in the back of the closet for safekeeping.
I think Dazai would struggle to keep his composure over the fact that chuuya kept everything. It makes him emotional, but also guilty, because Dazai basically threw their relationship away and Chuuya had every right to not have to hang on to the stuff (Dazai’s thoughts, not facts of course). It’s just another thing that makes Dazai thing maybe he doesn’t deserve Chuuya after all.

anyways since youre back... im gonna start off with baby ranpo actually hehe. i was watching tiktok and i saw this video of a little girl and her mom asks her to say okay when she says to stop and the girl goes "i just a baby 🥺💕" and then the mom goes "but you still have to say okay mom" and the girl goes "i just a baby 😡" like all mad lol. its this video which i found on youtube shorts hehe
and that makes me think of ranpo every. single. time. i cant help but laugh every time because that is so 1000 percent how i imagine baby ranpo. like for example kunikida would say something like "ranpo i need you to clean your toys up when youre done playing" and ranpo tries to play the cute card like "but... i forgot how... i forgot where they go... i didnt remember... i was so sleepy :(" and kunikida rolls his eyes because hes well aware of what ranpo is doing and hes like "okay, but you still need to clean up your toys ranpo" and ranpo, astonished that his act didnt hold up and work on kunikida, is like "but i was sleepy. i didnt know. im too little. 😡" and kunikidas like "oooh well if youre so little and sleepy i guess were just gonna have to schedule in a nap for you everyday" and THIS gets ranpo moving and into action cleaning up his toys lol.
i think it would make ranpo a bit more bratty as well to notice that babyzai gets a bit more grace than he does regarding such things, like in an ask it was mentioned that babyzai would spill his food by accident, because hes just too little to control his motor skills all that well, and ranpo would follow in his behaviour because he thinks its a game, and kunikida would scold them both for playing with their food. but then ofc once kunikida realizes dazai cant exactly control this, and alike things, like of dazai didnt put away toys the right way and left the area a bit messy, or if dazai accidentally knocks something over, he would be forgiven easily because since hes such a tiny little guy he cant neceserily control these things, theyre just all accidents from not having the abilities that an older regressor would have.
ranpo doesnt 100 percent understand this though and i think it would make sense that he sometimes gets jealous that dazai gets the quote unquote "easy way out" whereas ranpo has to follow these stupid rules and more is expected of him 🙄 eventually though ofc because hes ranpo the dots connect. hence the original scenario.
and ladies and gentlemen, hes just a baby 😡
and then ofc kunikidas response reminds ranpo that he also gets a bit more freedom and independence and big kid privileges, and dazai is treated that way because he has different needs, when kunikida "threatens" to take them away seeing as ranpo is "just a baby" he quickly shapes up lol.
anywayyyys thats just my two cents of babyzai and additionally baby ranpo for the day hehe :3 i too am in the trenches of working on fics but having boring adult responsibilities to attend to 😓 we will lock in and post our babyzai fics mwahahaha 😛 good luck to you in your endeavours, and me and babyzai send much encouragement and good vibes!
ps- i also wanna mention your fics, where chuuya and dazai play acnh together, inspired me to get on my dusty acnh island and start shaping it up finally lol (after like 4 years... oops.) im gonna make an area for an imaginary babyzai in it, like a little play area and a new room in my house for his baby room hehehe :3
“Back” is subjective lowkey because I feel like I’m always here (just on main not on the side blogs) but idk why answering comments/messages is so overwhelming sometimes? I have this problem irl too I’m a ghost in all my group chats and my friends are probably moving on without me and being present and answering things is just a task I can’t start most days, I feel like I’m a spectator in my own life and it’s passing me by, everyone hates me for not reaching out/participating in the relationship which makes it HARDER to do so…

Bratty Ranpo is so real….Five year olds can be SO bratty lmao and Ranpo would do it with the best of them. I love him pretending he doesn’t know how to put toys away (cartoonishly big eyes blinking at Kunikida all innocent… M too little Kuni..), and Babyzai would probably try helping Ranpo so he wouldn’t get in trouble, and to help his big brother who has done so much for him 😭😭🩷
I also think Ranpo is happy to share his toys with the baby, but it’s gotta be his idea. If Kunikida suggests he share a toy he hasn’t played with in a year, NO THATS MINE

I go through ACNH phases where I’m super in to playing for a few weeks then i forget about it, im super proud of parts of my island and other parts im eh about, I want to do an island tour one day hehe. Other games I think Chuuya and Babyzai would enjoy are Stardew Valley (they don’t usually play two player mode, baby likes to watch Chuuya play) and Paleo Pines
If Poe gets to have Karl, I think that Kyouka needs three rats named John, Stein, and Beck, and they share the collective ability Of Mice And Men, an ability that gives the three rats the power of one man. They would help the ADA with surveillance, and be able to reliably run tasks and errands.

My job is physically and emotionally taxing, so I get home and write like. 100 words or make two or three edits and then I’m tired and I gotta got to bed because I gotta get up the next morning and do it all again. I like my job a lot but it doesn’t make for a very productive fanfiction writing schedule unfortunately. Progress slow but I’m chipping away at it

Have you ever said how Kunikida would handle Dazai when sick? Kunikida doesn't really have a grasp on how bad Dazai's medical trauma is(at least when he first joins) like Chuuya, so I wonder what the differences would be. Chuuya took Dazai to the doctor as a last resort when Dazai wasn't getting better, but I feel like for Kunikida that would be one the first things he does, he doesn't take ANY chances. How would he handle Dazai's aversion to medicine and eating, or immense self-loathing?
On the other hand how would Dazai be when sick with Kunikida(at least when he first joins pt. 2)? Dazai's idea that he needs to prove his worth to the agency + the way he thinks he deserves whatever is delt to him I feel would make him scarily cooperative until he checks out. Until Kunikida and Yosano realize something is really wrong that has nothing to do with his fever.
ADA sickfic is definitely one of the many ones on my list!! And I’m actually cheating sooo hard and throwing a sickfic scene in the ‘ADA finds out Dazai is a baby’ fic too. Kunikida questions if Dazai really never regressed on his own, not even that time he went home early sick, and Dazai insisted that nope, he was fine (cue flashback of Dazai laying in bed shaking and whimpering and inbetween headspaces so NOT technically regressed)
Okay, take 2 for ADA Dazai sickfic.
Ranpo has a cold, nothing too serious, but he’s feeling clingy and is pretty demanding of Kunikida’s attention (Fukuzawa is off doing business stuff for plot purposes, SOMEONE at this agency has to get the work done). Dazai is obviously aware that he is *very* needy, and Ranpo used to have Kuni all to himself, it seems like the least he can do is step back and let Ranpo have the attention he deserves when he isn’t feeling good, and Kunikida is clearly is distracted with basically running the agency while Fukuzawa is out of town AND with a sniffly Ranpo. So when a clearly frazzled Kunikida briefly checks in on Dazai, Dazai nonchalantly brushes him off. He’s fine, and Kunikida should focus on Ranpo. Kunikida wants to protest, and say something like he knows Dazai won’t take his nap unless someone makes him, but Ranpo starts whining for something and Dazai promises again he’s fine, he’ll keep his distance so that he doesn’t catch whatever Ranpo has, he’ll tell Kunikida if he starts to feel small, go focus on Ranpo he’ll be okay.
Chuuya absolutely would have clocked that huge red flag, Dazai would never voluntarily come to someone when feeling little. And maybe deep down Kunikida knows that too, but he’s overwhelmed, and one of his kids seems fine. Worst case scenario he’ll make Dazai do a full little day later this week to make up for any headspace pushing off he might do while Kunikida is distracted.
So Dazai is fine. Actually, he’s a little less than fine, he doesn’t feel great. But ever since Dazai joined the ADA, Ranpo has had considerably less time with one of his caregivers. It would be so shitty of Dazai to take up more of Kunikida’s time now, Ranpo does so much for them and he’s such a good big brother, he deserves Kunikida’s full attention when he’s not feeling good at the very least! Dazai is fine, Ranpo has a small cold and he’s probably just caught it too, he’ll survive feeling a little crummy for a few days. Dazai actually gets some paperwork done to distract himself (i can’t remember if it’s in wan or the anthology collection but that chapter where Dazai has a fever and feels helpful and does his work lmaooo) and he’s being HELPFUL when his coworkers need him to step up, he’s probably making Oda proud right now too. A good person would not be selfish and let their brother have the attention when sick, and it works out for Dazai because he doesn’t want Kunikida’s care right now anyways. He saw the way Kunikida immediately called Yosano over to check on Ranpo when he discovered he was sick. Dazai has avoided Yosano’s office so far and he is NOT about to take a trip in there now! He’ll fly under the radar by doing his work, and then go right to sleep when he gets home.
Kunikida is pretty busy between keeping up with Ranpo’s demands (he wants a specific juice, and a specific soup, and then he wants Kunikida to read a specific story) and trying to keep up with the agency responsibilities, after a few hours he’s realized he hasn’t seen Dazai in a bit. He was working at his desk the last time Kunikida checked. Ranpo was on the break room couch snoozing, and that’s usually where Dazai slacks off to. Kunikida checks in the break room, and the president’s office, and he’s about to call Dazai and yell at him for ditching work when he realizes Dazai is lying down in the playpen.
That *does* catch Kunikida’s attention, and he realizes Dazai has been acting strangely all day. There were none of his usual shenanigans, and he laid down in the playpen for naptime??? Without being asked??? Unheard of. Kunikida is immediately suspicious, and Dazai all the sudden looks a bit worn down. He brushes Dazai’s bangs off his forehead and realizes the poor thing is running a fever :(
Kunikida does call Yosano right away, but he’s smart enough to not bring the baby to her office. He’s seen the way Dazai stiffens when the idea of his physical exam is brought up, but he also is absolutely the kind of caretaker that will seek medical attention first off. Kunikida is a bit of a ‘stern tough love’ caregiver, his method is probably going to be to let Dazai sit on his lap and cry it out for the brief checkup. He underestimates the baby’s medical trauma though, and both Kunikida and Yosano agree to cut the checkup short and assume Dazai’s got the same cold that Ranpo does (which, he like, totally does. That’s me trying to sound sarcastic.)
Dazai is a brat for medicine, hands down. Chuuya could coax the baby into taking something in the right situation, but Kunikida just doesn’t have the same way of convincing him. I do think if he gets sick enough he’ll just check out to total compliance (which DeFiNiTeLy won’t happen ;) ;) ;) and Dazai’s parinoia that the ADA will act like the PM when he was ill will get the better of him. Once in that mindset, of COURSE he’d be super compliant. Not to mention the fact that Kunikida already has so much on his plate and Dazai is making extra work for him :( and he was actually trying to be helpful this time too :(
I think Kunikida would just try to support Dazai through it the best he can. He probably stays up all night with Dazai, who is also probably missing his previous comfort objects and compromising by being the clingiest ever, and feeling incredibly guilty that he’s being such a burden 😔😭
Yosano is *thrilled* to receive a call from kunikida in the middle of the night to come over and look at Dazai again because he’s pretty sure he does NOT have Ranpo’s cold 😳
Something I thought was cute and it had me thinking of your classification au, there’s a museum called the ice cream museum and it’s just like the history of ice cream and it’s a super colorful museum and I was thinking about like if Chuuya where to ever take regressed Dazai I think that it would be super cute. It reminded me of the bubble bath scene you had wrote. :3

I also love that brand of h/c too, I love a good misunderstanding, like Kunikida accidentally saying something that Dazai reads too much into because he’s so nervous and needs so much reassurance. Maybe Kunikida passes out juice to Dazai and Ranpo but gives both of them those plastic tumbler cups with straws (more spill proof than an open cup, but will still make a bit of a mess if dropped by clumsy hands or knocked over) and Dazai takes that to mean that he absolutely should not be small enough to need anything further, Kunikida expects his headspace age to at least be old enough to handle a cup and straw.

I'm very excited for ADA leanrs to care for a baby dazai. Like i know in your first Ada fic, they seemed to know he was a baby (needing a bottle and everything), but also im assuming. I like the idea of kunikida thinking dazai is just being difficult and not eating a snack or whatever, but he just can't feed himself or not liking Ranpo's more rough house-y games. Stuff like that really gets my goat. Im not a big angst person but babyzai is the exception, i guess lol

That kinda stuff is my jam too lol, like Babyzai being clumsy when eating 😔 and Ranpo sees and thinks it’s silly, so he starts playing with his food as well, and Kunikida scolds them both for playing with their food and Dazai feels terrible because he started it and got Ranpo in trouble (even though he didn’t mean to spill his food). A lot of Ranpo’s games are probably too rough for the baby as well, but he wants to TRY to be a good playmate and it ends with frustrated tears on everyone’s part.
Timeline wise, they definitely know he’s a baby by the nap fic, and I think Kunikida realizes pretty quickly that Dazai is tiny. Dazai probably is trying his hardest to pretend to have an older headspace, because having an older little is better than a baby, per Dazai. He never offers up his age range, and tries to play the part the best he can, but there are only so many times Kunikida can notice Dazai doing something a baby would do before thinking ‘huh, I think you might just be a baby.’ I do think that once he knows though, Kunikida is still lowkey surprised every once in a while at just *how* small Dazai gets sometimes. Like, Dazai how did you ever think you could convince someone you were four, you’re tiny you’re just a little baby 🥺

Dazai feels sick, and it’s not just the fever and the pain in his ear. He didn’t mean to make Chuuya think that he wasn’t good enough for him, Dazai is just trying to not get attached so that when Chuuya wises up it doesn’t leave him completely devastated beyond repair.
“I don’t want anyone but you, Chibi,” Dazai murmurs, head spinning with relief that he didn’t hear Chuuya say that he wanted anyone but him.
Oh this little tidbit on the newest chapter… 🥺 It’s so so so sweet but also so heartbreaking when we know what’s coming and that they’ll eventually be separated for four years after Dazai’s defection. I swear, if/when you write the reunion fic one day, I’ll be an absolute wreck 😭
Whenever I think about that four year period, I always catch myself thinking about how they coped with it, you know? If Chuuya was ever jealous or bitter when he saw other Alphas or Caregivers with their Littles (like Kouyou with Kyouka, maybe?) or if Dazai had any small tells that made the ADA suspect that he had a prior Caregiver he still misses despite joining the Agency (like calling out for his chibi after his nightmares, if they still happen at all). I just think they wouldn’t be able to completely ignore the small things that remind them of each other, despite everything 🥺

Oh Babyzai definitely asks for Chibi and Fishie, especially if he’s disoriented (like waking up from a nap, he’ll mumble for Chibi before he remembers) and the agency is confused and tries to figure out if that’s some kind of toy, or show. They do eventually figure out it must have been someone important to Dazai, I’m sure the baby has a new nightmares about Oda as well (the nightmares come in waves in Dazai’s life, they start to get better as Chuuya just provides steady safety, but when Dazai defects they start up again, they stop for a little bit when Dazai is first hired by the agency and then start to return again once he is more comfortable there), so maybe they theorize that Dazai’s previous caregiver had something tragic happen or something 😭 he doesn’t really offer up anything about his past though, so when Chuuya is revealed to be Dazai’s caregiver everyone is pretty surprised (including Ranpo, who knew Dazai had a previous caregiver and was pretty sure they were currently alive, but didn’t have access to the information to deduct that it was Chuuya)
That last ask just made me imagine someone doing the ‘I’m so hungry I could eat Osamu Dazai’ trend as a joke to Chuuya during their time apart, thinking it would get a rise out of him and it would utterly devastate him

theres a trend i see going around where people tell babies/kids “im so hungry i cold eat a baby/child”, and then the child usually is like “… you cannot eat kids… you have to eat snacks… do not eat children…” or smth along those lines, like in this one tiktok https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTjXocFWJ/ and i thought of chuuya saying that to babyzai, like he goes “ugh… im so hungry! i could eat a baby!” and i imagine dazai reacting one of two ways, one, like in the videos, hes like “what… you cannot eat kids NOT do that…” and he looks at chuuya suspiciously because he does not want chuuya to eat him… kind of like those side eyeing animal memes like this
but i can imagine more realistically the baby would probably take it personally and be like “you want to eat me? 🥺” and start crying 💔 and chuuya has to be like awwwww im not gonna eat you dont worry, and dazai is like :( are you sure… are you sure you wont eat me… as hes sniffling and hiding away in chuuyas shoulder because hes afraid chuuya will eat him because hes mad at him or doesnt love him 😭💕

Alternatively, my first thought was Dazai knows Chuuya has a hard time when he gets hungry (if Dazai were big he’d lovingly tease Chuuya for being hangry) and so the baby would just look up at Chuuya with his big chocolate eyes and nod, and say ‘okay Chibi’ 🥹 he’d let him eat him because he loves Chuuya so much 🥺🩷 besides Chuuya is so small he could probably be satisfied just eating one of Dazai’s arms or legs, and the baby can totally justify that for Chuuya to be happy 🩷
I saw a post saying chuuya would win everytime at a claw machine because of his ability and all I can think about is the baby otter going "again! again!"(but in tiny cus he's still shy about it) for another stuffed animal🥹. I think in another world dazai has a lot of stuffed animals, but he still doesn't really play with them like fishie, he just kinda arranges them for displayed like fishie is their mutual friend but he's not friends with them😭 I feel like he would also kinda treat ranpo and sushis stuffies the same
Chuuya would slay at claw machines. I have written some other skk regression works outside of the au before, an arcade date where Dazai regresses and keeps directing Chuuya towards the crane game would be adorable 🩷 i love personifying stuffed animals lmao and them being Fishie’s friends but not Dazai’s is so funny. Dazai also would 100% put Ranpo’s plush on his chair at his desk and then excuse himself from work because someone is already sitting there 😌🩷
