Pine Manor College sophomore guard Taverick (Tank) Roberson (Pittsfield, Mass.) has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. Roberson averaged 22.0 points per game on 64.3 percent shooting in leading the Gators to a 2-0 week. Roberson earns Player of the Week honors for the first time this season and is currently ranked fourth in the Association with 18.3 points per game. In response to the announcement Tank said: "I can’t explain how happy I am receiving this award. My teammates and coaches push me every day to give it my best, so this award is shared with them! It makes me happy to know that I’ve been playing well, and just being acknowledged in the game I love the most is enough.”
MLK Day of Service
For this year’s MLK Day of Service, 30 Pine Manor College students and 9 Kings College students partnered with Many Helping Hands 365 for the annual MLK Day of Service. In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., volunteers of all ages join together for an afternoon of service to Cambridge residents in need. They came to work together following Dr. Martin Luther King’s exhortation: “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” The fruits of their labors benefited thousands of people in need all over Cambridge helped by 79 different organizations and city departments. This year Pine Manor College focused our activities on the College’s Mission and what each of us brings to the PMC community. The activities included an opportunity for each everyone to reflect on the mission both personally and collectively. Members of the community were asked to write three words describing their experience at PMC. Students, faculty and staff displayed their statements and took pictures with “I AM PMC” sign. Games were played from around the world and international foods (as well as foods from local ethnic restaurants) were catered by the First Year Seminar team.
