Okay so my original tags super did get this post hidden from search LOL. Anyway here are said tags in full for context

#Reviving dead blog to be The Critic but as a brown lesbian. Welllll #I live in the world where I'm incapable of seeing past race in these scenarios. Zarei's “a love that looked less like her” line made me #focus more on the racial dynamic between her & Bax and that's not me calling Bax racist but like. Acknowledging the intersections Zarei is #oppressed at relative to Bax (brown lesbian hijabi). Bigotry isn't explicit in PNAT and Zack being white I don't expect them to get into #racism much (I already have some criticisms there too) but I still feel strongly about how important it is that Zarei is brown. #Then there's a layer of internet-culture criticisms about the recent obsession with “toxic yuri” that obfuscates critical media analysis #but that's a whole other can of worms. #Just speaking from experience fandoms always gun for the white characters over the POC esp. over the Black characters. So frustrating. #Not to mention that if you like the dynamic... Day and Zarei are already on tenuous terms with each other! #People seem to oversimplify their dynamic as meetcute and Day as like a simple sweet girl (unsurprisingly) but they DO have complexities...

#DISCLAIMER I'm not trying to do cringe little ship wars race is just important to me in fiction.#And notoriously I like discussing it + the relationship between fandom and race. So these are just my critical thoughts.#talking
