PAST
Poppy Drakos was born in Fallbrook, North Carolina. She is the second child to the Drakos and is the younger sister of Alex Drakos.
Growing up, her and her older brother were attached to the hips. Alex was her best friend in the entire world and there was nothing she wouldn’t have done for him.
When Alex met his best friend, Poppy was the third musketeer. She was constantly hanging around the two boys despite being a few years younger.
Poppy proved growing up that she wasn’t the girly girl type of person and was more into sports, ripped jeans, and the color black. She made friends with the boys more than she could the girls since she always felt like girls her age had been too emotional and jealous.
Tragedy came and destroyed the life she once had, her best friend’s brother was killed in a plane crash and the grief broke her brother. It was the first time in her life where she had no idea what she could do for him.
When Poppy realized the relationship she once had with her brother was nonexistent she packed up her things and left Fallbrook.
She found herself in Long Island after a few weeks of bouncing from town to town. Long Island would provide something she was no where near ready for and it would create a destructive path for her to journey down.
Long Island is where she met Thomas Novack, a man that would be way too good for her and one she would ghost when things got too serious.
Thomas was sweet, loving, fun, charming. The two of them practically spent every single day together during those three months. They probably would have spent more time together but when Poppy found out she was pregnant. She packed up her things and left Long Island.
Poppy had decided she didn’t want the baby so she made an appointment and after that appointment was the first time Thomas called her. When she saw Thomas’s name pop up on the screen, she tossed the phone in the nearest trash can and left the town she was in.
Poppy spent years, hopping from town to town to town. She did her best to find somewhere that would feel like home, somewhere she didn’t have to think about the second brother she tragically lost.
In and out of relationships, most of them ending badly and most of them she spent being too drunk or too high. She picked fights and used sex to make up until things got too serious and she would dip out, move to another town and start over.

Cal had been checking his phone all night long, having heard a rumor from a friend that Laney's parents had been spotted back in Fallbrook. Being at work was both a welcomed distraction, as well as, painstakingly frustrating because he wasn't with Laney and his mom making sure they didn't darken his door. But the bills needed to be paid and his mom would also have a fit if he ditched out on his shift. Money had been tight lately. With his brain everywhere but the bar, he'd messed up a regulars drink who began having a fit at him. "Then leave--no one's keeping you here." Cal being in no mood, wasn't exactly putting his best bartender foot forward.

Poppy had noticed the shift change in Cal, simply because she was usually the one who was an asshole to the customers and he was the one cleaning up her messes. She had stepped in through every order, fixing it and delivering the right drinks to the right people. She reached out, taking his arm as she gave the man on the stool a tight lip smile. "Give us a second, okay?" She pulled him a little further away from the bar. "Want to tell me what pissed in your fuckin' cheerios this morning?"
Theodore had snagged a job at Aero about a year ago and hadn’t really ventured further in terms of his career. Sure the skill set was there but outside of his father’s company he wasn’t sure he was ready for rejection. He didn’t like to be a patron where he worked so tonight he found himself at The Barnyard, less for the country music and more for a particular staff member who he heard worked here. His interactions with Poppy had been brief and banter filled and a small part of him knew a fun night awaited him here. “So who’s controlling the music here?” he asked leaning against the bar top to get her attention.

Poppy had been shifting around behind the bar all night, glancing at Callum every so often. Something was going on with the man working along side of her and it was absolutely driving her nuts that even her banter hadn’t been able to pull him out of it. She slid a beer down towards one of the patrons when Theodore caught her attention, shifting to lean against the bar as a slight smirk came along her features. “Does it really look like I would have a fuckin’ clue who controls the music here?” She asked, tilting her head to the side as a cocky grin came across her features.
