Everyone gagged that Beabadoobee’s new music is gonna be more rock than usual, like she’s BEEN a rock artist. The main difference now is that she CLEARLY has emo influences. And I’ve been expecting this, did we not see her talking about Midwest emo and American Football? Did we not see her post with the book about math rock? Did we not see her in the studio with Haley Williams? Were we not aware that pinegrove is one of her favorite bands of all time? Were we not aware of her green day phase? People are excited about it but are still calling it “rock influences” or “louder and more aggressive” instead of rock or emo, and normally I’d call it misogyny and how people don’t accept women as rock artists but I think this is just teenage girls who don’t know shit about music. I’m just confused because Bea is the one who got me so into this kind of music, like are we not watching the interviews??? Am I too obsessed and parasocial or do you just like to think Bea is cutesy and bossa nova lamp Aya Takano Yoshitomo Nara k pop sonny angel cat girl? Is this cause she’s Asian? Like yes she’s sort of that vibe but why can’t she be both? Why does she have to have some rock influence? It doesn’t matter at all, no hate to people saying that, but I just love that she’s going emo and I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone acknowledge that, it’s like they think rock is all one genre. Her music is changing, but rock isn’t new at all for her like are we forgetting the ancient text and by ancient I mean LITERALLY THE LAST ALBUM???!!!! AND EVERYTHING BEFORE??? (Except the lofi stuff before she had drums or electric guitars or any other equipment)
