Fabian was being such a good brother, and here he was – a shivering, stumbling mess of a man – no, not even a man – a boy. He was a wreck of a boy and – when had he become so dependent on Fabian? What had happened to the person who was there a month and a half ago? 

Fabian promised that they wouldn’t hurt him anymore, and Gideon shook his head. “I-I’d rather them h-hurt me than any of y-y-you.” He stuttered, looking directly into Fabian’s eyes. “Don’t w-want them to touch y-you or Molly or the k-kids.”

--- fabian sat on the couch, pulling his twin with him. he had never been the best at comforting people. as teenagers they’d always been joking around, and since he’d been on the run, he’d grown a lot ore serious, although he’d still act childish or tease his friends. but even though gideon was recovering from being held captive, and wasn’t acting the same way he had been before his captivity, fabian wouldn’t look at him differently.

“ i don’t want them hurting you ever again. they’ll have to get through me before they can get anywhere near you, molly, arthur, or the kids, ” fabian replied. “ they’ll have to get through us to get to molly and arthur and the kids. ”
