Mini Scientist

Tip: If you will play this game you will prepare your logical and problem-solving skills. If not, you cannot go to the next stage. Mostly, I play games from Y8 games but this time, I tried to play from FRIV.com. Friv.com is similar to Y8 games, it contains different type of online games. Friv is also one of the prominent site for mini games that a lot of kids and kids at heart would love.

The mechanics of the game is quite simple, the player will just need to remove all the circumstances in able to proceed the scientist. This challenge is not easy because there are a lot of obstacle to be removed.

The scientist must find all the missing pieces that it is necessary to build his rocket ship, that he made, is the mission of the game. If you are playing at Friv ever since, you will realize that this game is similar to the game named First Day At School wherein the mission is to help the child to find the comfort room in the school that the helper does not well-known all the way in the school. The other similar game like this game is the Sleepwalk. Sleepwalk’s mission is to help the penguin that is does sleepwalking to his home. 

The story might deceive you that the game is easy to play, but do not fall for it. Because you might get crazy and annoyed on answering the not-for-stupid obstacles. Warning: Condition first your self and mind before you play the game because even if the game was designed for kids, you cannot finish the game quickly.

Piggy Bank Adventure

At first, when you read the name of the game you would mislead to the real adventure type of the game like Mortal Kombat, Subway Surfers and alike. But this game is the different, its gameplay is similar to ‘Cut the Rope’.

The objective of the game is to bring the coin to the piggy bank. For me the stars, that depends to the player if they will collect it or not, is the clue on how the coin could go to the piggy bank. In short for me it is the way (just my personal opinion).

Cut the rope is much cuter than this game but I love the animation when the piggy bank gets the coin. It suits also the sound effects to the game. 

Piggy Bank Adventure can be played through Y8 Games. The game can be played by account or with the local computer. When you played the game online there is the high scores or the ranking of the best players. The ranking makes the player to become more competitive because all of them aspires to be on top.

I got bored because some levels can be solved easily. I don’t think that it could help you to improve your logical or problem-solving skills. Or this game is just for kids. (lol idk) 

But overall the game is great.

Goosebumps

I entered a new genre of game. This time, I played a horror type of game its name is Goosebumps.

I installed this game midnight and I have the guts to play it. I took that as a challenge for me to overcome the fear. But in the very start it freaked me out. You must have headphones for best experience. The sound effect is great and perfect for a horror type of game. The ambient and the effect of the game were commendable. The controls are simple you just need to swipe the screen in order to move the character. The objective of the game is to find the music box in the stormy night in the middle of I don't know what is the place, but it looks like a forest. The challenge is there are so many surprises and jump scare in the game once you encounter monster or ghosts along your way.

Once you start to play the game, the screen remains black. The only thing you will see and hear is the footstep of your character. Every time the lightning strikes, it enables the player to see the way. Once you hear a creepy laugh, someone is crying and other disturbing noises nearby, you must avoid it and find a way to get rid of them 'cause once you were caught the only thing you will know is that you are already dead so be careful. My technique is to listen carefully to the music box's sound and watch carefully to the way once the lightning strikes.

As of now I don't know where lies the freakin' music box!!

Light a Way

My smartphone contains lots  of puzzle game, and I got bored with it. So I visited PlayStore and I saw a catchy icon of the game i.e the Light a Way.

It is so cute and I thought that it is a magical type of game, and I was not wrong, it is really a magical game. When I first saw the icon, there is an urge feeling inside of me because of the wand of the girl. The girl looks similar with the best anime that I watched. Anime: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic.

The game started at a story. The story is kind of similar  also with the Anime. (Maybe this game is inspired on it, but the characters aren't.)

Story: One night when the moon was very round, there are monsters attacked beautiful creature and a girl received a wand that lights so bright that could dismissed all the monster. The girl wonders why she received that, and she thought that she a mission i.e to protect and she wants to fulfill it.

The gameplay is similar to Best Fiends (an android game also) the player should tap enemies to attack (so basic)

Your goal was to protect and save all captured Fey. Fey are the beautiful creatures that was attacked.

The Challenge: 1. As you level up and you transfer to higher stage, the Umbra (enemies) gets tougher and tougher. 2. Once you meet the  Boss there's a time limit.

Tip: If you want to surpass the level you need to upgrade your level and your friends powers.

If you killed one Umbra it will provide or will leave you a Star Dust (a resource). You will need a Star Dust to Upgrade and increase your Friend's abilities.

Your Friends or your league: In the beginning you will be accompanied by the Red Fairy. Red Fairy represents the Light of Courage. Fairies will emit flare to expel Umbras whenever you tap the screen. Fairies grow stronger along with  your  level. As the game goes along, I met the last 2 fairies, the Green and the Blue. Green Fairy represents Love and the Blue represents Hope. When you reach a certain level milestone you will have a Fairy Bond. Fairy Bond provide various bonuses to your Fairies. I also  met Lumi Lantern, that was attacked by the Umbra so I cleanse him/her(???). Lumi Lantern is home to many Lumis, who will automatically expel Umbras on their  own. Lumis can learn special skills and even evolve once they reach level 1200.

This game also missions to you must achieve in return of diamonds.

Other Resources in the game: Spells - it will help  you to kill Umbras with burst power. It has Cooldown Reduction.

Staff - In the game there are 10 staffs that you need to collect. (I only have the default one! huhuhu) Each staff has its own unique power. Pick one that suits to your play style. Collecting multiples of same staffs will allow you to increase it's level.

Lightstones - As of now I only have 1 Lightstone. It helps me to expel Umbrias. My Lightstone ability is a Kamekameha lol. Yeah! Its effects is similar to Kamekameha of San Goku just imagine it. (ᗒᗨᗕ)

Runes/Constellation - I really don't know what it is. I have not get this yet. Treasure Stare - Treasure Stare is similar to Treasure Box of Mobile Legends. It will provide you some gifts.

Blessings - are the Fey's Blessing that bestow upon you that is very powerful and game changing. You receive one Blessing per Light Up and can offer diamonds to get an additional 2 blessing. The 2nd and 3rd Blessings are usually more powerful.

Once you played the  game you will be the Guardian of Light. It also has a magical sfx and music. You must try it now, visit you Playstore or in Apple store and istall it. Enjoy!

Piano Tiles 2

The objective of the game is very simple: The player will just tap all the black tiles. It has simple objective but its quite hard to play because of the increasing speed of the tiles as long as the player is not yet lose the game. I played this game since I was in High School. The game was made since 2014. This game bloomed same as the flappy bird, candy crush, doodle jump, etc. Back when I was in High School, I really love these games. But until now Piano tiles remains in my phone. I still play it because the entertainment and challenge are changing and still engaging all the players. I can say that I mastered the game because when I play one song, the game lasts long. The game has a genre of music because it contains all the master piece of all the prominent pianist. The first launch of the game was there are only one tile at a time. But when Cheetah Games, a game company, updates the game, Piano Tiles today have the long and double tiles. It makes the game more challenging. For me this game is more worthy to play with headphones because I don't appreciate the game without it. One thing that I also love about in this game is its ranking. When you login your Facebook account to the game, there is a ranking of who is the best on playing it. For me it like to a competition with your friends on Facebook. The visual effects, the sounds, game play and challenge were all enticing to all players.

Alto's Adventure

I've searched and played so many games and I took so many hours. I've felt excited, disappointed and nervous on some games. But I played this game that is not so good and not so bad game. I chose this game because I love it. lol

I love games that does not contain too much flashy and fancy designs. I like interesting games that has a minimal and simple design. Good gameplay, sfx and music has a huge factor for me. Alto's Adventure's virtual art style and good soundtrack makes the game worth playing.

The game starts at the top of the snow hill, where I think Alto's Llama's farm/house. When you played it, your first mission is that, Alto will find and collect all the Llama on the snow hill through snow boarding. But in the long run it is just one goal of the game. The game provides 3 missions for the players. Once you complete the missions you'll get rewards of course. It has an endless game play. For me, it is a tap tap game because the player should tap their phones to jump and hold to perform a trick i.e the chasm jumps and the 360 rotation. Its pretty hard to do the 360 rotation because of the applied physics on the game and that makes the game more accurate. The challenge are the stones, bone fires and an elder that must avoid by the players and if not it could end your play. If you played the game named Hill Climbing, you would know how it played and how it works. Well of course, the farthest the distance you get the better. What I like the most in the game is its background. I really love the way how it change from beautiful day up to the stormy night and to the beautiful day again. It constantly changes as you play the game. Its hard to snow board at night. I think its one of the challenge of the game.

The game is absolutely awesome. Everyone would love to play it because of its amazing art styles, visual effects and additionally the dynamic weather effects that makes the game simply beautiful. The gameplay is simple but the effects, backgrounds, sfx and a good music could create a good, soothing and comprehensive game that can be played by anyone.

Super Phantom Cat

Today, I enjoyed playing the an Android Game, "Super Phantom Cat". Everyone who have an Android Phone can download it on Google Playstore and for Apple Users they can download it on App Store.

It is an adventure type of game. The game also has cute story at the beginning. Their graphics, characters, levels, sfx and music were all commendable.

Its gameplay is similar to Super Mario but the Character is the Cat whose named was Chemist White who aspiring to be a hero. He met a guy named Flash Eyes who promises him to become a true Phantom, which the player's responsibility for Chemist White to become a true phantom. Maybe the goal of the game is to go to the portal at the end of each level and to enter to the new world and also you must to collect the hidden stars per level. This is I think the Challenge of the game. Because some of Stars are really hard to find. There is also points to collect to buy new hero. The game also has the power-ups or sprites. Each world has different sprites. I don't know the other sprites because I'm on World 2 only.

The game also has the unique settings because you can customized buttons, were other games doesn't have.

Avatar Arena

Y8 games have a lot of games, that is why I visit it when I have to relieve some stress although some games were intended for kids. I don't have an idea what game should I play so I filter the Categories to the Most Played Games on Y8. I've played most of them except this one.

Avatar Arena, well obviously it is for kids, but the thing that hook my attention is that the characters that you would choose can be customized. It is very enticing to everyone not only for the kids but also for the kids at hearts who love Avatar: The Last Airbender and who loves Fighting Games similar to Arcades.

Avatar Arena has good music and sound effects. I do love games that have good music and realistic sound effects. The Gameplay of this game is similar to StreetFighter. But StreetFighter doesn't have the feature of customizing the Character unlike Avatar Arena that could. Take a look n my charcter. zzztiggg

At first the game will prompt the user to choose what Nation they want to represent. Fire Nation, Earth Kingdom, Water Tribe, and Air Nomads and I picked the Earth Kingdom. I chose this because I thought Earth has the enourmous and heavier attacks among others. Then the game will let you customize character, when the gamer is done on creating their character the game will let the player if they would go to Tournament wherein the player will have a battle with 20 characters from  different nations and have an Honor after blowing off all the enemies or Training to practice all the ability and combos. I chose the training of course and I studied all the combos in the middle of battle.

Game Experience: At the beginning I master one ability and I thought that it would be the  only one. But when I encounter an enemy that came also from the Earth Kingdom I felt curious on the combos that my enemy is blowing off on me. So I check all the  combos through trying all the possibility combos. I tried arrow down down space, up down space, and so on and so fourth just to check the others and I'm glad I mastered it all. But when i go through up to my last 3 enemies left the computer enemy is killing it!!! They are so hard to fight and like they have read my minds and defend all my next moves. I'm kind of nervious on fighting them because I thought that the game would reset if you failed to win but I'm wrong. There's a Continue button, an opportunity to take REVENGE. I won at the end. I killed those 20 weaklings and I'm on top.

Asgard Attack

I’ve been searching a game that is quite similar or somehow related for my project just for reference and I’ve landed on this game named Asgard Attack.

Asgard Attack can be found not only on Y8 games but also on Crazy Games, A10.com, dedegames and other free online games. It is a tower defense type of game that let you build up your own kingdom, and train an unbeatable force with Asgard gods to fight against orcs, evil wizards, trolls, and other creatures.

The objective of the game is just not to let the goblins, orcs, evil wizards, trolls and other creatures pass a certain point by summoning Asgard Gods to defend the road.

This is what makes the game commendable, they give the controls of the game so that the player wouldn’t confuse.

And if the character killed by the enemy or any creature they could use the spell called ‘Healing Totem’. Healing Totem can heal all the nearby heroes on the battlefield and it is free of charge. 

Thank God it is free. (if u know what i mean) 

After finishing all the enemies, you can now build a buildings.

You can build a building based on the stars that you get from the battle. I build Smithy on my kingdom. And because I’m on level 2 I unlocked the other 2 modes of Game. The first game that I play is the Standard mode. But this time I played the Rush Mode. In Rush Mode there’s only one wave of several creatures that will try to pass to my kingdom.

And the other one is the Wild Mode. You must plan and play more careful on this kind of game. Because once your character on the died or loss it won’t regenerate again. On this type game you must play wise.

For me the best thing to do is to use always the Spell particularly the Healing Totem in the battlefield when there are a lot of enemies or creatures in the battlefield.

The game have a database wherein you can exit the game and when you go back to that site/game you can retrieve your own Kingdom. So I guess I would get into it. (lol) This game is absolutely awesome because that’s different from the other tower defense type of game. Everyone must try it.

Linedoku

Linedoku is another Logic puzzle game similar to "Find A Way" that I recently played. Linedoku consist of different line puzzle game. Maybe that's why the the team who developed the game came up to that game's name.

The game can be played by adults and kids. My 5 year old brother tried the game and he could follow and understand how the game works. I think it could boost his problem-solving skills.

There are 11 line puzzle solving games that Linedoku have I won't discuss all of them because its too many I'll just review some of my favorites, these are: 

Cross Path

The player must fill in all the grid through swiping the numbers in straight line only. The numbers indicates how many blocks can fill. Perhaps it is the source of line to fill in the grid.

Loops

Loops are just a connecting type of game. The player must tap the specific block or something to connect it to its neighbor. Remember that it must be appropriate for the blocks must connect to each other and to complete the image. I had the hard time on completing some images because It is difficult for me to recognize some of  them.

Blocks

Its the typical Block game, that the player must drag and drop the pieces below that must fill the dots and not overlapping the lines.

One Line

This game also included the puzzle game Find A Way. This game is just like it. The player must fill in the dots in just one line.

Color Flow

Color Flow is the typical color flow game. There are various of colors and the players must connect all of them that the container are all filled-in by the colors.

Color loops

I think the gameplay is the combination of Color Flow and Loops. Because the player must rotate the piece in order to connect it the same color.

Slide

Have you heard the game Unblock Me? Maybe the gameplay is similar to that because the player must slide all the blocks to connect the color.

Number Maze

Number maze is kinda similar with the Find a Way game. Because the player must connect all the numbers in ascending order and also it must fill in the whole container. I think this is more easy to play than the Find A Way 'cause it has the clue. The only thing that the player must have is the smart strategy on how he/she could fill in the container.

Each game has 4 Difficulties Beginner Medium Expert Master As of now I didn't finish the beginner level. This game can download in Google Playstore for Android users. If you have a good time killer I suggest to download and play this game. It can help a lot for some brain exercise. Enjoy!

Avatar Fortress 2

I played Avatar Fortress 2 again. I played this game when I was a kid, that was my first time to play this. It brings back the memories. I remember I used my kickbacks from my parents and when siesta comes I go to computer shops to play computer games and I tried this. Okay, enough of this stuff. Back to the game, the game is inspired to the anime; Avatar the Last Airbender. It is the battle between the 4 fortress or kingdoms.

At the beginning the game prompted me to choose if 1player/2player/View High Scores Since I am the only one playing I chose the 1 player and the game prompted me to choose what fortress; Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation. 

At first I chose the Earth Kingdom and Aang is the Character my opponent is the Fire Nation the Character is Zuko. Both of us have the Bending Powers. Bending Powers are the special abilities of the Fortress. It is limited in 100 energy and it decreases and increases depending if used much. The gameplay is similar to Angry Birds. There’s a projectile of abilities that must project to my opponent. My ability is limited also consumed there’s a boulder a default ability that can used to enemy having less damage only. If you win the game there’s a chance to buy some abilities from your resources and repair your fortress and you will fight with other nations.

 I didn’t win the game I only reach the 2 fights and I don’t know what will happen if you finish the 3 fortress, perhaps you will be the last Airbender. There are also power ups in the mid-air that can help to gain more damage to the enemy.

At first the game was hard to find the perfect spot on how to target your opponent. But overall the game was fun even the gameplay was common, it has also good graphics and great sound and music

Find A Way: Addictive Puzzle Game

Find A Way is an Addictive Puzzle Game. It is an Android App that can be downloaded from Playstore. It has a minimalist design which is the main objective and one mechanic is to connect all the dot per level.

This brain-stimulating puzzle game is free to play, very simple, and enjoyable for all ages.

There are several stages/levels in the game. I think its not hierarchical that per level increases its challenge/difficulty because I encountered some easy puzzle in some higher levels. It also has a nice feature i.e the night mode. I think this is a good idea to have a night mode in the game like this, to protect the eyes of the players. I think the rule for this game is that the player must finish first the level to continue to the next level. There are times that the given puzzle is too difficult and I need help 😅 Luckily, there's a hint button there but it is limited. When I tap the hint, it will show how to finish/solve the puzzle and your done. There are free 10 hints only after that perhaps there's a charge for that. The game can be played to reality but it is hassle to generate puzzles so it is convenient to play it digitally. You would know if you are winning the game if you solve the puzzle and pass to the next level.

Elements of a Game

Last Saturday was fun (again). Because our professor conducted an activity wherein all the students must play at least four (4) to five (5) board games.

I played Pictionary first and then the Wheel of Fortune, followed by Checkers or commonly known as Dama and Chess. Pictionary and Wheel of Fortune can be played by group and it was for entertainment while the Checkers and Chess were played only by two (2) individuals and it can enhance your strategical skills.

Pictionary is a kind of guessing game. The game were fun to play especially with your friends.

Formal Elements of Game (Pictionary)

Players: The more the merrier but the game can be played only of maximum of four (4) groups with four (4) players. I think the players should have a creativity here.

Objective: The objective was to team must finish or reach the finish box on the board.

Procedure: Each team must draw a certain image by one of their member based on the given word. Each team were given only one minute to guess the word. One member per team were include to see the word and draw after for “All-play” squares. Continue playing until there’s a team reaches the Finish line.

Rules: Only one player of the team can play if the other team members were lose on  Rock-paper-scissors. But one member per team were include to see the word and draw after for “All-play” squares. In terms in drawing, it is prohibited to include letters and numbers. Also the illustrator of the team must not give a hint to their respective members. They must remain and silent.

Conflict: There will be a conflict when two teams got the correct answer with the same time.

Boundaries: The game is played physically and the conceptualization of the word were needed. 

Outcome: The possible outcome that the player would get is the conceptualization of different things/objects and on how they can simplify complicated things.

Draughts or commonly known as Checkers is a strategy board games for two players. I liked to play this game when I was on High School.

Formal Elements of Game (Checkers)

Players: 2 players only. The players somehow have the idea on how to play this.

Objective: The objective was to deplete your opponents checker pieces.

Procedure: Place all the checker pieces on its designate positions. The whites would take the first turn. Depleting your opponents piece would be done through diagonal move. Try to defeat with your own strategy.

Rules: Each player must move one at a time. There’s an option if they will play rules of if the player must eat or get the pieces mandatory or optional.

Conflict: When there are missing checker pieces the game can’t be played.

Boundaries: The game is played physically and the strategy of the players were needed.

Outcome: The players can enhance their critical, analytical and strategical thinking.

Chess is a strategical board games also similar to Checkers. I usually play this when my father or uncle invites me to play.

Formal Elements of Game (Chess)

Players: 2 players only. The players somehow have the idea on how to play this. Similar to Checkers.

Objective: The objective was to deplete your opponents chess pieces.

Procedure: Place all the chess pieces on its designate positions. The whites would take the first turn. Depleting your opponents piece would be done through diagonal move. Try to defeat with your own strategy.

Rules: Each player must move one at a time. The Horse piece can only moved in ‘L’ direction. The Queen piece can’t be moved similar to Horse. Castling can’t be done if the Rooks were  moved already.The King is mandatory to move away if the player is ‘CHECKED’. Both of them must say the word ‘CHECK’ to warn their enemy.

Conflict: When there are missing checker pieces the game can’t be played. 

Boundaries: The game is played physically and the strategy of the players were needed.

Outcome: The players can enhance their critical, analytical and strategical thinking.

Become a Tester

I took a role of being a game tester (just an activity). I had a partner in this activity and we decided to play the game named ‘BoxHead’. It is on Y8 games. The game was in the 4th version, in this version we can play the game with 2 players. It has an option if we are ‘Cooperative’ meaning we are going to kill all the zombies as a team and ‘Death match’ simply its a duel. But first we tried the ‘Cooperative’ option and we’re about to set-off all the zombies!!

At first I had a hard time to control my hero because my buttons are the arrow keys to move, ‘/’ to fire a gun and ‘.’ to change weapon. But when I got it and when the game leveled up, I found it exciting and challenging and then I got serious on playing it. The more the game leveled up the zombies were keep increase in number and that’s the time I felt so nervous and I kept on shouting when the zombies were trying to approached me. My hands were already stiff because of the controls. But still I’d enjoyed the game.

And we tried the Death match.

In this state, it’s very thrilling. I always formulate a strategy on how to kill my enemy which is my partner. But sometimes I just kept on firing a gun HAHAHAHA! I were always killed by myself because of my weapon -rocket

On the ‘Cooperative’ my partner were very concentrated because the game was intense. He is very serious and always think on how we are going to get rid of the zombies. It is unfair that he had a good game controls. jk

On the ‘Death match’ my partner was very aggressive. He always won on our battle with his secret weapon-’the rocket’. I thought he already mastered this game HAHAHA. Its very unfair to me. XD

The game was very fun. It has a good graphics also even though it’s quite old. Because I think its already on Y8 since I was on elementary school. It can build up both teamwork and anger to your partner HAHAHAHAHA jk.

Playing Cards

Last Saturday, our professor in Game Development made an activity for us. We are divided into 4 groups.We are free to manipulate the typical playing cards to create a new game based on the existing card games.

Our team had a hard time to think of what will be our output, but in the end we decided to modify the existing game i.e UNO.

Before we introduced our game we try it first on ourselves. At first we are confused on what power-ups we are going to set on our game. By the way the name of the game is called ‘Poorita’. We just come up to that name in an instant. And we tested our card game to our fellow classmates.

The group that have tested our ‘Poorita’ are also confused on how our game works. But when they got how it works it became more interactive and exciting just like how UNO cards are played and also we put some incredible and strange power-ups on ‘Poorita’ the game became more exciting.

The activity was fun. All of us had a weird but funny outputs on the activity and I really enjoyed testing all of their card game ideas. :)
