Lucas tentatively walked onto the back patio of the large and impressive building, having texted Mason. He felt very out of place around such people and he definitely felt under dressed in his blue shorts and vest with an open shirt on top. Jon had decided to walk home instead of the car which was normally take him each way. Must of been the nice weather or the case he had just closed, which had put him a good mood, well a good mood for Jon anyway. Before moving into the building he was unaware that his ex Mason was living there until when he had moved in he realized, though he did much care. Upon arriving to his building block, he notice a cab pulling up and saw Mason getting out and turning and glancing back at him. Making his way straight inside the building, he lost sight of Jon. Thank god, Mason had thought to himself before arriving at the elevator. When it finally dinged, he managed to get inside, and twisted his key into the button for his floor.

It had come time for the Spring into Summer Gala at NYU was happening this weekend and Mason had got his invitation in the mail that morning before he had to leave for class. The Spring into Summer Gala was a highly prestigious event and only the select elite in New York’s art world were allowed to attend.  Everyone from today’s fashion designers and art buffs were going to be there scouting new talent. It wasn’t long after being asked to grab the chardonnay from the basement did he get the text that Lucas was here. Quickly rummaging over the bottles, he picked up the amber bottle and looked at it in the light. Mumbling a “perfect”, he marched his way up the cellar steps and out into the main living room. He didn’t want the constant reminder of his first failed relationship. “This one though, is my favorite, “he said as he held up a painting done of a couple having a picnic in Central Park. This was the first painting I’d ever done,” he said. Not mentioning it was of his parents in the happier times.
