I am about ten seconds away from writing a couple of characters into my BunCat story, one being a sheep and one being a wolf, a couple of childhood best friends turned girlfriends, and the sheep would be a super confident dom top and the wolf would be an easily flustered subby bottom girl and they'd like, dress up as each other's species for Halloween and try to eat each other's favorite foods and stuff. 

...I gotta get into contact with one of my favorite commissions artist again. I'm gonna make this happen.

For context: this came out in 2011 in Australia. Same-sex marriage would not be legalized until December 2017.

It was only legalized in 8 US states (the 8th only a few months before), and wouldn’t be legalized nation-wide until 2015.

It was only legal in TEN COUNTRIES in 2011. We wouldn’t hit 20 countries until 2017. (Australia was 23rd)

As of today (April 14, 2026), I believe only 38 countries have fully legalized same-sex marriage. Out of somewhere around 200 countries in the world. That’s only ~19% of countries.

This is still revolutionary.

High on Spy vs. Spy

Man, I kid you not, I never expected to become so head-over-heels in love with a slapstick cartoon. Yet here we are.

Yes, in my continued descent into madness, I am now attempting to conjure up ideas for fics regarding the monochrome menaces with a shared affinity for kicking/blowing up/beating the shit out of each other.

While initially a herculean task on its own given the inherent lack of any discernable personality for the spies aside from their choice of wardrobe, I decided to up the writing ante by volunteering to be a part of a 3-day Spy vs. Spy Valentine's Day themed writing challenge on AO3.

Then I realized I may have screwed myself.

See the problem with writing fanfiction for a parody slapstick cartoon is just that: It's parody slapstick. No deeper meaning (kinda), no tragic backstory, no lasting consequences upon death. Just pure, unfiltered fun.

And, unfortunately, I work just a smidge better when I have at least some idea of what to go off of when writing characters. It's how I've managed to write Solace Inc. Scripts despite there not being much surface lore. Just look at the character bios.

So, in the words of one of the most meme-able senators ever, I am once again asking for your support.

In the form of ideas.

I need the cutest, sweetest, most lovey-dovey scenarios possible to be able to write these silly spies, ideally with as much specificity as possible.

Headcanons are welcome, as are slightly suggestive scenarios. It can only be that, though; slightly suggestive. I know I write a lot of smut, but I'm trying to cut back for this event.

Thinking 'bout gay shit

Why? Hell if I know.

I dunno about you, but like...silly cartoon characters who have deep personal chemistry (or beef) is kinda hot.

Some examples:

Spy vs. Spy - Why it took me until today to realize that this 75 year old comic featuring two spies engaging in slapstick comedy is a gold mine for fanfiction and silly romance, but somehow it did. Well, better late than never!

Sam and Max - One's a hard-boiled cop-like guy in a sharply-dressed anthropomorphic dog body, and the other is a trigger happy anthropomorphic rabbity thing who has a thing for crossdressing, glazed McGuffins, and biting and licking things. Draw your conclusions as you see fit.

SMG4 (SMG4 x SMG3) - A pair of meme guardians from another planet who are in charge of keeping the universe safe through the power of memes. One's a youtuber obsessed with perfection, the other is a barista who tries to be villainous but is secretly very sweet and caring.

That's kinda all I have right now off the top of my head, but I'd love to hear more examples of stuff like this. Especially if there are yuri examples.
