And long after that, but at least when she’s old enough to enjoy it I can take both of you to nice places.

It’d been a while since he’d seen Val and he’d be a liar if he said he wasn’t curious as to what she was doing theses days. “Look who’s back from the dead, slummin’ it with me.” He shrugged, putting his phone back into his pocket and leaning against the brick wall of the building he worked at. “So, you said it. Mission accomplished.” The words came out a little bitter and honestly, he usually wouldn’t even flinch because of his sharp sounding words but he did feel a little bad for dismissing her like that… I mean, they were friends at some point, right? Obviously those were different times. She was different but he wasn’t a robot, he was human. Shaking his head he pushed himself up and off the wall before pointing down at her shoes. “Um, you’re probably gonna slip and break something in those, you know.” Alright, he could’ve thought of something better to say like sorry for coming off so rude or how’ve you been? but it was Tristan. 

There’s a playful roll of her eyes as the word ‘slummin’ leaves his lips. She was never one to be too classist, but Val won’t lie and say she didn’t drop some friends along the way to her fame. It was never intentional, it just happened. Her priorities shifted and so did her friend groups. She’s lucky she’s left the amount of old friends she has. The bite in his words left her biting on her lower lip, it was harshness she deserved, she knew, but it still managed to catch her off guard. There’s a small smile on her face as she shakes her head. “We both know I’ve worn far worse in weather conditions that could rival these. This is just Tuesday casual,” she jokes.
