Hi all. In view of recent events, we feel strongly that we need the comfort of our community, our storytellers and artists, more than ever. This year's Secret Santa will be a quick event, but I hope it will keep our hearts warm this holiday season.
We deeply, deeply appreciate each and every one of you who can participate in any way at all. If nothing else, please spread the cheer. (Quite frankly, I'm back on the tried-and-true 'fake it til you make it' kick.)

The QuiObi Secret Santa 2024 is a holiday exchange event of fanfiction or fanart. This year, the exchange will be in the form of a prompt meme, which means that *anyone* with an AO3 account can submit a prompt request. This also means that creators can choose which prompt(s) they want to fill instead of receiving an assigned recipient. Itâs a Secret Santa, so creators will be anonymous until the creator reveal on January 1st.
Prompt submissions open: Saturday, November 9th
Prompt submissions close: Sunday, November 24th
Submission deadline: Sunday, December 15th
Pinch-hit period: Monday, December 16th-Monday, December 30th
Works revealed: Tuesday, December 31st
Creators revealed: Wednesday, January 1st
Prompts may be claimed at any time. The mods will do their best to see that each prompt is claimed, but please be aware that there is a small chance your prompt will not be filled.Â
Submitting a prompt: From November 9th - November 24th you will be able to access the prompt submissions form here.Â
Claiming a prompt: use the âClaimâ button next to the prompt you want to claim. (You can find open prompts under âPromptsâ in the sidebar.) You can claim a prompt without having submitted any of your own.
1. Posting prompts: the sign up form can be found here. Only 1 prompt request is allowed per person, and anonymous prompts are not accepted.
2. Both slash and gen prompts are welcomed
3. Your story or artwork is due by December 15th at 11:59 pm EST. If necessary, extensions may be obtained by contacting the mods at our email address.Â
4. Minimum requirements for the event are at least 500 words for fic (complete) and a clean sketch on unlined paper (or digital art equivalent) for art
5. Please only claim one prompt at a time. After you have completed your fill, you may claim a new one.
6. Respect your prompterâs dislikes and rating preferences
7. Please donât publicly discuss or crosspost your work until after the creator reveal on January 1st, so it can remain a secret gift
8. You can post your prompt fill by navigating to the âClaimsâ section of your AO3 dashboard and selecting âFulfillâ on your claimed prompt
9. If you cannot finish your gift, please drop your claim as soon as possible. You can do so by navigating to the Claimsâ section of your AO3 dashboard and selecting âDrop Claimâ on the prompt. If your work is not posted by the December 15th deadline and we have not heard from you, your claimed prompt will be added to the pinch hit list.Â
