Quirk Idea #53
Patience - The user can wait over three years to make their own, original post!
Quirk Idea #52:
Emojify - Emojis: Become Real. Exactly how it works is up to interpretation, but perhaps texting out emojis can either mimic the emotion or produce the object (that can only be used once before disappearing)
!
Quirk Idea #51:
Persona - by writing a detailed description, this person can quite literally become what they want with the power of their writing! The more detailed, the better!
@moldyke are you aware you put the best comment on any of my posts thus far
Quirk Idea #51:
Persona - by writing a detailed description, this person can quite literally become what they want with the power of their writing! The more detailed, the better!
Quirk Idea #50
Connect - When the user touches two to four objects that are close together, they can cause these objects to merge!
Hi guys! Just gonna pop in and summarize what I'm about to say: I'm gonna try to queue up some posts and get this blog slowly back running up again!
I've been working on my own ocs and have been quite busy for a very long time overall, so sorry for me vanishing! Not to mention there's so many interesting quirks out there, and I'm not 100% caught up with everything oc-base wise and canon, so I fear duplicated quirks! I trust if I have those issues you guys will call me on it so I can fix them as necessary, though!
But for now I'm gonna try changing stuff. The askbox should still be open, but I won't be posting a lot of submitted quirks, if any at all. That way I'm not upsetting any of you! Stay tuned!
@kaio-sama I don't ever really give details on these things, they are all up to your imaginations! Go beyond Plus Ultra!
Quirk help!!
So I basically have this character whose quirk is that he can emit a quick flash of light which will blind the people around him for about 3-5 seconds. He is not a source of light really. The light he emits is just a flash and theres only so many times he would be able to use it consecutively. ANYWAY I need help. Is there anyway I could improve this quirk idea? My character who uses the quirk was a juvenile who just used his quirk to steal or run away. And now he is in a hero class and I’m having a hard time seeing how he could use his quirk for hero purposes. So should I change the quirk at all to improve it or keep it the way it is? @quirkideas
Well, where does the light come from? Is it his entire body, or just a certain (or multiple) part(s)? Perhaps he may ironically have a blind spot? Is he immune to his own quirk, or does he need to shield his eyes too? It is a very neat quirk!
As a hero, unless he was very well at combat to make up for what his quirk can and cannot do, and/or he had weapons to assist himself, he would probably be in the rescue hero category. Perhaps using his quirk as a distraction to help others run away and/or to buy some time, or perhaps act as a beacon if he and whoever he is with needs rescuing?
How do you think a lizard quirk would work?
I already know the tail would detach itself if you pulled on it and it would probably take a while to grow back. They’d probably be pretty fast (and maybe good at sneaking around but idk).
@quirkideas
Well it could depend on whether this is a mutant based quirk or transformation based! If its transformation based, then you can choose one or more lizards to have your oc turn into.
However, if you are wanting to go on the mutant side of things, this ALSO could depend on what lizard(s) you base your character off of. Lizards are cold blooded - thus they cannot maintain body temperature. This could be a potential flaw for your character? There’s two venomous lizards in the world, but multiple poisonous ones. Maybe having protective toxins can help your OC defense wise? Other than geckos, lizards dont have any vocal chords, either.
I would also suggest looking up various lizards to see which one(s) suit your character as well! Hope this helped!
Oh cool! I didn’t even think about a transformation quirk! (I might do something like that for a different oc later.) But I think I’ll probably go with mutation. Also I didn’t know that most lizards don’t have vocal cords! It kinda makes sense for my character though! Although she’s kinda more based on a gecko (which aren’t really vocal except for small squeaks when they get scared and a chirping noise). Are there poisonous geckos? Also would she just need to sit in the sun for a while to kinda regulate her temperature?
Nice! It looks like there are no poisonous geckos based on a quick google search. Lizards in general use the environment around them to regulate temperature, so I believe that would be correct.
Name:
Jin
Nationality:
Chinese (Both parents from Sichuan)
Hero Name:
Shuāngchóng [ 双重 ]
meaning “Two fold” or “double”
Quirk:
[Technically] Quirkless
Quirk Characteristics:
Jin is an incredibly special case in which he technically does not have a quirk of his own. The blue amorphous grid-patterned ball that floats about him is actually a congregate of mutant quirk cells formed in the womb alongside him. Doctors discovering later that it was actually the mutated quirk cells of a twin that never made it to development but that latched on in a parasitic fashion to Jin’s healthy fetus and would draw in nutrients from him like a host.
When he was born Doctors were shocked to find him incased inside of it like a second womb that could not be pierced no matter what they tried. They gave the blob to Jins freaked out mom and it immedietly opened up to reveal a healthy baby Jin. Because of its link, Jin and by extension, his parents, all have some control over it, with Jins control being the strongest. Initially it would act on its own in an effort to protect the host, such as catching him when he fell over as a toddler and repelling objects coming in his direction. With some concentration and effort he can control it to make it do things that he wants. Since birth, it no longer requires any nutrients or energy from Jin to move about.
The quirk itself is a mixture of his mothers and fathers quirk, his father having the ability to control the movement and hardness of silk, and his mothers quirk of being able to change the state of matter of something into solid, liquid or gas. Jin can change the consistancy of the blue cells matter, its hardness, density and size. However, it can only grow to a specific size, if spread out to its maximum capacity it can reach an area of about 15 meters on all sides with a thickness of a about an inch. However, this decreases its strength drastically. It can never be pierced however it does have give to it, meaning things can be pushed into it and it like rubber. It can also be made hard and slippery in order to slide upon, which Jin uses as a way to bounce attacks away, as well as slide along it to escape.
He can also wear the cells as clothes and use it as a net and as an offensive weapon by curling it into a corkscrew spear or using it as a large blunt weapon.
Quirk Weaknesses:
Because the cells react to Jin’s strongest instincts, it doesn’t always mean Jin can provide a lot of forethought in a fight, and controlling its shape and density is something he is working on constantly.
The cells will also act in their own accordance as a self preservation method, meaning, if Jin wants to protect a teammate, he cant always overide the cells will to protect only its host and it will instead rebound, encase Jin and will not let him free until the danger has withdrawn. Since it cannot be pierced, it can do this for any amount of time.
Also, since it cannot be pierced or create a hole within itself, any shape that Jin wants to create needs to have a sort of foldable pattern, like an origami. Part of his hero suit is the cells wrapped around his body to look like clothes, these stop bullets and projectiles but do not protect Jin from the concussive force of them. The same way Kevlar stops a bullet, but cant stop the force of the bullet from bruising ribs and leaving welts. It should be noted that the cells that make up the parasytic cells are not and never have been concious, they are simply that, a cluster of cells that formed off of mutated quirk material dna. Whatever Jin’s feelings are about the cells, it’s simply him projecting his own insecurities onto it. This can be called a weakness as it generally makes him more nervous in a fight.
Personality:
Jin used to be a regular sociable child up until age 9 when the doctors finally discovered what his quirk really was. Suddenly he was forced to face the fact that he himself, was actually quirkless, and that he could have possibly had a twin and that twin would have been the one with the quirk. After that he became incredibly withdrawn and avoided his friends at school feeling like an imposter, the only person he was very close to his whole life was his grandmother on his fathers side. He would occaisionally run away from school midday and come home. After she’d calmed him down they’d spend hours in the kitchen making soup dumplings and noodles.
He remained the same way until Bunta more or less forced his friendship upon him when he entered UA, and by proxy Yun-Yeong as well, The three are inseperable, each helping the other to stand on their two feet.
Background:
Jin’s parents actually had them incredibly late into their lives. Jin’s dad is a beloved retired Pro-Hero called “The Dragon of Chengdu” and his mother is a Journalist who worked for a prominent newspaper at the time. Jin’s dad was born in a very low income area of Chengdu and grew up rather poor. When he graduated the nations top hero academy, he became an absolute treasure to his neighborhood, and as he grew to rival the top pros of the country, he became the most celebrated Hero in the province. There even being restaurants opened with his image, as well as certain landmarks from his childhood being turned into tourist spots. He is most known for his infectious optimism despite his upbringing and put forth tons of money back into the poor community he grew up in. He was named “Dragon of Chendu” because of his costume, which has a massive train, glides about the city on patrol, people would look up and see a large chinese dragon, circling the sky, it provided people with an incredibly safe feeling as well as providing him his lifelong namesake.
After finishing up tracking a villain in Nanchong, he saw Jin’s mother who was rushing to him for an interview, he was incredibly distracted by how pretty she was and wasn’t paying attention to his landing, and ended up slamming right into a steel beam and getting knocked out. When he woke up she visited him in the hospital and he knew it was love at first sight. They married soon after and shortly after that they were told that they weren’t able to have any children.
He retired when he was about 40 when his wife found out they were pregnant, he instead, became a journalist and editor and the two of them wrote columns about the state of the hero world, using the knowledge he’d gained in an over 20 year career to give interesting insights. When they found out they were pregnant they were freaked out since they were so much older than regular parents, but extatic and dropped everything in order to prepare for being parents. His parents both absolutely cherished Jin, and they did absolutely everything together. His dad constantly takes Jin up for rides when he wasn’t on patrol, which is why Jin doesn’t have a fear of heights. His mother on the other hand refuses to let Jin’s dad take her more than 3 feet off the ground before going into hysterics.
Registration at UA:
Due to Jin’s incredibly compex feelings towards the cells that form his “quirk” he feels as though he isn’t the one worthy to have lived to full maturity, and so he felt that because this other sibling probably would have been amazing, that he can’t drag its power down with him, and entered UA’S transfer program as a way to make up for being the one who “got to live”.
He also wanted to join as he’d wanted to be a hero himself since he was young before he discovered the truth behind his quirk. He has an intense amount of pride for his father after seeing the way his city not only supports him, but in the way that the citizens truly love him, and how his dad loves every single one of them back. He finds an intense comfort in the feeling and doesn’t want that feeling to die with him, knowing that he has to use his “quirk” in order to make sure that optimism and hope lives on.
Fun Facts:
-Jin wakes up every morning before daybreak and does laps of the yard outside the school in order to train up his body so that he has a firmer control of the cells that form his quirk. Its by doing this that Bunta (forcibly) joins him and they become good friends, both pushing eachother to do better as neither are very althletic.
-Jin isn’t a morning person whatsoever, the other reasons he runs is because he’s rather homesick, his father would wake the entire house before dawn with a booming yell and force everyone on walks in the early morning together to ready them all for the day. Jin and his mom both exhausted by his seemingly unending optimistic energy. Its a habit that arose when he moved to the dorms and suddenly there was no one waking him up anymore and ran initially as a way to combat the feelings of anxiety from being so far away from home.
-Yun-Yeong and Jin met while she was ripping into Bunta about sticking up for her to someone talking trash when she never asked him to, she turned to Jin prepared to verbally rip him a new one as well simply for being associated with Bunta and stopped dead. He was so scared looking that she was speechless for the first time in her life. To this day Jin is the only person she’s never ever written a single bad limerick about. She can’t bring herself to do it.
-Because of his unsociable nature he let his hair grow out incredibly long so that he could hide behind his bangs. Every attempt by Yun-Yeong and Bunta to forcibly cut his bangs backfiring comically because of Jins protective quirk. Eventually Jin came to class with his messy uneven bangs cut, having done it himself. Everyone freaked out since they all thought he grew his bangs out because he had mouths for eyes or something crazy he was hiding beneath them. Yun-Yeong sat at lunch outside and evened them out for him while Bunta bloviated that they should be creditted with his transformation.
-Jin loves incredibly spicey things and consistantly overspices the food he makes in the dorms. When Yun-Yeong , Bunta and him make Hot Pot together, they bring their own pot because they don’t trust him not to kill them both with the spice.
-Bunta calls their trio neccesary, as the three work best together to cover for eachothers weaknesses. He explains this as saying “This wouldn’t work with just the two of us, a two-legged stool is a shitty stool. But a three- legged stool is the sturdiest of all” Jin and Yun-Yeong outwardly say thats dumb, but fail to realize that when they fight, they usually begin back-to-back-to-back, like the legs of a stool.
-Jin’s powers work as complete support to his two other teamates. He tailors his quirk to whatever is going to help their chances. When its him and Yun-Yeong, he’ll curl the cells into a megaphone shape and double Miss Diss’ range and allow her to attack and stun a group of people at once, then Bunta jumps and Jin will curl the chape much thinner like the barrel of a gun and Bunta will use his concussive sneeze into it. Which allows him to concentrate the blast and hit from much further away.
-Jin’s favorite use for his quirk is making spiral pathways. Bunta and him will link arms and Bunta will sneeze, propelling them across the surface of his shape and allowing them to manuever around the arena at incredible speeds. This also allows them to transport Yun-Yeong across the arena so that she may stun or attack as she doesn’t have fast mobility. He also uses this method to delivery Bunta to different areas, as he is essentially a turret that they move to wherever they need him most.
Thats the second to last one! I like how Jin came out, even if visually he’s not what I was thinking of lol only one more to go~
Hey There :) Me and my Friend would need a Fire Quirk for our roleplay. Sadly we can't come up with something thats not canon or simply "He can control Fire". Do you maybe have some decent Ideas ?
Heya! A fire quirk, eh? I love it! I have a character or two with fire quirks as well, so I understand the challenge of creating something interesting. Here's some things I came up with!
- manifesting fire and being able to ignite while body in flames
- not necessarily fire, but having a magma-like body?
- Maybe a fiery breath that gets stronger the more spicy foods the user eats?
- my aforementioned firebird based quirk!
- I have an oc based of this as well as the igniting whole body thing above, but hellfire manipulation!
- Or maybe a sort of thermal radiation - not necessarily fire but does deal with heat!
- or maybe even a fire or flame beast! Hellhounds?
Any ideas for a Emotion fueled puppet master/voodoo sort of Quirk? I'm struggling to actually develop a quirk around that idea. Thank you for any help!
Hmm, this one is very interesting!! If it is dolls that the user controls, perhaps various emotions allow the puppets to use special powers? For an example, the user can "connect" emotionally to the puppets. Whatever emotion the user is feeling is embedded into the puppet. Whenever the user feels that same emotion again, the puppets reflect that! Maybe elemental magical can be paired up with each as well?
Or if you wanted to do a person or multiple people, perhaps the user can control said person(s), and while not necessarily taking OVER their bodies, but moreso sharing emotions?
If I ever have more on this, I'll add more to the post!
How do you think a lizard quirk would work?
I already know the tail would detach itself if you pulled on it and it would probably take a while to grow back. They’d probably be pretty fast (and maybe good at sneaking around but idk).
@quirkideas
There's two venomous lizards in the world, but multiple poisonous ones. Maybe having protective toxins can help your OC defense wise? Other than geckos, lizards dont have any vocal chords, either.
I would also suggest looking up various lizards to see which one(s) suit your character as well! Hope this helped!
Aaaaand my second bnha oc, Goro! He’s my gargoyle boy who is secretly a lil evil sinnamon roll~
Hey There! I just thought of a Quirk Source i haven't seen much. A Meteor Quirk. Do you maybe have any ideas how that could work ?
Woah, an interesting quirk indeed! I had to Google some attributes to a meteor, but here are a few things!- directly summoning meteors from above!- creating comets in colder areas to use!- using other materials to simulate meteors! - a subtype of earth manipulation that can surround the user and make THEM the meteor.I hope these help!#x.a. speaks #quirkhelp
Quirk Idea #49:
Quirk Name: Dragon Hearts
Quirk Type: Mutant
Quirk Description: The user possesses draconian traits. Actually, many people have been born with this "species" of quirk, with different types, shapes, colors, and even abilities of various dragons. One person only possesses the ability of one. Depending on the type can vary on the abilities: wings, claws, feet, fangs, horns, even the occasional element-breathing ones.
Flaws: These users have to keep a huge appetite, and also have been known to sleep for long periods of time. These people aren't normally able to adapt to harsh climates, either, and are usually in average temperatures. They get worn out more often. Sometimes they act more on the "animal" side than the human side, and may be oblivious and become a hassle, intentional or not.
