Ray’s After Ending will be updated on Mystic Messenger!

We have more news regarding other surprises, such as Jumin Han’s Bad Ending DLC and special events prepared for Jaehee’s birthday, so please read this notice carefully until the end!

< 1. New DLC: Ray’s After Ending >

On the 18th of December, 2020… Ray’s After Ending, which many of you have been waiting for, will finally be released!!

What do you think awaits the last journey for Ray, who has been there from the very beginning - when Mystic Messenger was first introduced to the world? Will it be a love story? A thriller? Why don’t you find out this December?

Anyone can access his After Ending contents through the DLC or the After Ending page - it is not required to see the Good or the Normal ending of Ray’s route first .♥

The title image of the game will also change in commemoration of the update as well! Title Illustration: 14th - 27th of December (KST)

< 2. New Merchandise in Commemoration of Ray’s After Ending >

Following the new update, Ray will be getting his very own set of merchandise.

Did you know that Ray has three distinguishable characteristics? He tends to the gardens. He bakes tarts. However, he has a “dark side.” And have you ever found yourself particularly charmed by his “dark side?” Well, if you have, then this event will be perfect for you!

This December, in commemoration of the new in-game updates, you will be able to meet the dark sides of Ray, Jumin, and Jaehee on the SNS!!

So get ready to fall head over heels in love!

Last, but not least, the most reliable member of the RFA member, Jaehee Kang, has her birthday in December. Log in during the following period to see the new title illustration in celebration of Jaehee’s birthday!

What I really admire about this episode is the neat metaphors.

At the start of the episode, Gou is carrying Ash's bag as he battles. Ash's bag has a weight to it, suggesting both a physical and emotional burden that Ash is facing brought about by the struggles in his battles. But the fact that Gou is carrying his bag suggests Gou is willing to ease his burden, highlighting how supportive he is of Ash and his concern, which is visible in other parts of the episode as well.

The episode follows with Ash being reluctant to go to investigate the sandstorm.

The sandstorm is a metaphor/pathetic fallacy for Ash's state of mind - it reflects his inner turmoil. Hence, his initial reluctance to go to the Hoenn town can be attributed to his reluctance to face up to his emotions; to venture into the eye of the storm to consolidate his emotions properly.

This reluctance is important because it shows how badly his defeat to Bea has affected him—because of his past experience with Riolu getting trapped by Grapploct, he does not dare to get close to his opponents now, lest he falls into their grip. This is a neat parallel to his reluctance to get closer to the sandstorm—if he gets too close, he'll get trapped by the quicksand only to fall prey to the Trapinch like how Riolu got trapped by countless Octopus Pokémon and defeated. It signifies his fear to step out of his comfort zone.

He was feeling stuck and helpless, just like how the sandstorm traps people, and it showed in his inability to fend for himself when facing Flygon. The sandstorm, like his inner storm of emotions, had impaired his sight and hence his judgement. Despite the goggles, he couldn't see clearly. The Vibrava's Supersonic assaulted their ears and he was left struggling and defenseless, but it was Gou who snapped out of it to hurl a Pokéball at it.

Why Gou fought back while Ash just reacted is because Ash had lost his spirit to fight—shown by his uncertain and relcutant response when Gou urges him to help battle Flygon.

However, Gou wasn't affected by the sandstorm and he battled with a clear mind to defeat Flygon. His sight may be impaired, but his judgement certainly wasn't—seen as he relies on Raboot's sense of hearing instead of sight in order to predict where Flygon would emerge from its Dragon Rush.

The most important scene is when Ash's looking up at Gou as he says, "No matter how crazy you have to be, never stop striving for victory. I figured this was the kind of thing you'd normally do."

—and at that instant, the skies clear up behind him—the abrupt change towards the clear and bright representing Ash's sudden clarity and understanding brought about by Gou.

By behaving exactly like how Ash would in battle normally, by doing the exact "craziness" Gou has always admired and raved so much about, Gou has reflected Ash’s attitude for Ash himself to witness and that has brought clarity to Ash, clearing the inner sandstorm in his mind and righting his compass again. (Before, he was disoriented, fumbling as he has lost his sight/judgement due to the sandstorm/his emotions.)
