You can call me Corey! I use he/him pronouns and I am questioning and asexual!! I am 15 years old (don't be weird please) and my birthday is April 23rd!!
I speak english!! I'd also like to learn japanese and french.
some of my hobbies include: collecting CDs (and somewhat DVDs), karate, reading, playing guitar (or trying too), writing, surfing, baking/cooking, baseball, thrifting, occasionally drawing/scrapbooking, and swimming!!
I also enjoy theater, stop-motions, astronomy, physical media, watching films, comic books, hiking/camping etc!!
I love talking!!! I love discussing the media itself, characters, relationships etc!!! My asks are always open if anyone wants to chat about newsies!! You can talk about things you want (be respectful!) or ask me about things!!
I love newsies dearly and have been a fan for a while! I love the '92 movie (and blood drips heavily on newsies square) and the broadway!!
my favorite songs are carrying the banner, king of new york, high times hard times, seize the day and once and for all!
I am literally racetrack and kid blink
my favorite characters: racetrack, kid blink, skittery, finch, albert, mush, swifty, spot, specs, and mike and ike! (this may be subject to change!)
my favorite relationships: blink and mush, skittery and tumbler, race and albert, race and spot, and mike and ike! (this may also be subject to change!)

BUTTTT im gonna yap about holds because i can
so like youve probably see the HCs and drawing for him, and that boys doesnt know the difference between platonic and romantic so he'll kiss EVERYONE and think its just away to express friendship.
hes also kinda oblivious to whats around him and gets distracted very easily (its the only thing we dont have in common,,,) like hes always on the hunt for street cats rather that his next buyer. you can be talking to him and he'll just zone out and blink slowly.
hes also a big cuddle bug and needs like physical affection from people hes close with, like just pet him like a cat or whatever.

HIHIIHII HOLDEN!!! OH MY GOD IM SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG. this has been sitting in my inbox for like two weeks
THANK YOU!!! IM HERE FOR YOU AS WELL!!!! :)
I DONT THINK I HAVE SEEN THE DRAWIGNIS OF HIM???? ID LOVE TO THOUGH OH MY GOD
oh my god he's sounds great LMAO!!!!! I think he sounds super interesting!!!!! AND NO WORRIES ABOUT IT BEING SHORT THANK YOU FOR SHARING AHSHAS!!!!!
Zip is very energetic and hyper, and is always ranting and talking to the other Newsies! He is very passionate about the things he loves and brings it up any chance he gets, he gets very giddy and excited about things he loves!!! He is always humming, making noise, fighting or moving somehow! He has a hard time just sitting still or not moving, it helps him focus on things and feels jittery when he doesn't do something!
He is very loyal to his fellow Newsies and will always go out of his way to cheer them up or offer them advice! He always offers an ear and does his best to support his friends or people he cares about.
He LOVES interacting with customers; he goes out of his way to engage and talk with them and always has a friendly smile on his face!!! He asks all kinds of questions and would definitely have a few regulars.
He is very goofy and often chatting nonstop with his friends and saying out of pocket things to make people laugh. He loves bantering and playfully bickering back and forth and joking around with his friends. He tends to accidentally interrupt people, not in a deliberate way but he just has to share his thoughts immediately (or he'll forget) so he'll usually interrupt to quickly add something!! He can talk really fast too when he gets excited about something and his speech can become indistinct and hard to follow because it starts to slur and words getting jumbled up. But despite his tendencies to ramble, he also knows when to listen and tries his best to give people his full attention!
He loves his friends so much and can be very protective of them and always stands up to defend the other Newsies! He is always around the Newsies and doesn't like to be alone so he opts to surround himself with people.
He loves the littles!! He enjoys telling them stories, playing with them and even having them sell with him!!!!
He doesn't have the best filter; he usually blurts things out and says things bluntly without always thinking about it. He doesn't always mean to but sometimes he just says things before he even realizes he's talking (and sometimes immediately regrets it). It's not always mean or rude but he just generally blurts things out!
He is very playful; always wrestling and roughhousing with the other Newsies. He's most of the time in physical contact with someone! Shoulder bumps, hugs, arm around the shoulders, tapping/flicking, etc!!!!
I THINK THAT'S ALL I AHVE REALLY FOR NOW. sorry I'm sort of all over the place but I have his sheet somehwere but I am so tired
SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG AGAIN. LOVE YOU, HOLDEN!!!!! /p
sorry I've been so inactive lately, but life and school have been crazy!!
if you wouldn't mind sending or would like to send me your Newsies thoughts to read you absolutely can! I would love to read your thoughts and chat about Newsies since I haven't been able to for a hot minute. OCS, characters, rants, facts etc!!
okay but what newsies character would love glee is my biggest question
HII! Okay I have never seen Glee BUT I'll do my best!!!
Based on the description it sounds super cool and I think these Newsies would like it:
Jack Kelly: I think the theme of the teacher role model and finding acceptance and an escape from the harsh relativity of life would appeal to him! I do think that'd he only watch it if someone showed him or introduced him to it (like Crutchy), I don't know if he'd personally seek it out?
David: I think the elements of the students finding "strength and acceptance in their voices" would draw him to something he can relate to with standing up and gaining a voice for yourself.
Crutchy: I think the ambitious and upbeat life of the show would appeal to him, as well as the music probably.
Maybe Race too: Mainly because it says "flashy dance numbers" and "upbeat music", I think he'd maybe enjoy the similar themes as Jack and Crutchy.
Les: Once again with the flashiness, energy and overall viewing I think he'd enjoy watching it with someone (Crutchy and maybe David)
Once again I am SO sorry if they seem inaccurate and completely off I have never seen Glee and went purely off vibes and the description LMAO (if you have any thoughts or opinions let me know if you want to!!)
imma rant about bumlets and albert bc yes i can !!! like can we agree how majestic bumlets is??? i love his hair and the fact that if he goes side profile, his face is just *chefs kiss* PERFECT !!!!! and dont get me started whenever he dances (〒﹏〒) i always rewatch the movie just to see his lil moments and his lil laughs and smiles and and and and UGHHHHHHH ( ≧Д≦) wish we could get some lines from him,, WE WERE ROBBBEDDDD and MAN,,, CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW SILLY ALBERT IS??? like, i kid (—blink. heh.) u not, my friends say im albert dasilva coded jdjcjwncrj i always love his lil sassy retorts to racetrack (´ . .̫ . `) and i wont stop giggling, kicking my feet, punching the air watching him dance King of New York
BUMLETS AND ALBERT YESS!!!!!

I love when I re-watch Newsies because I notice more and more little details like that every time and I LOVE IT SO MUCH
NO SERIOUSLY I WISH HE WOULD JAVE HAD LINES THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO AMAZING

okay so I'm doing some of the 92sies I hope that's okay!! (not all of the characters are here but this is what I have for now!)
ALSO THANK YOU TO @what-the-newsies FOR OFFERING HER IDEAS AND THOUGHTS!!! <3
She's pink and I'm blue!
Jack: If it's mentioned it's a Western he'll give it a chance. Also Back to the Future, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Tombstone, Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, etc.
David: Anne with an E / Star Trek, one of the Sherlock Holmes shows probably, and documentaries about things he finds cool.
Crutchy: Stranger things / Princess Bride, Goonies, E.T., Ferris Bueller's Day Off, etc.
Les: Amazing world of Gumball / The Incredibles, LEGO movie, Home Alone, Jumanji, etc.
Race: Iron man and the Avengers / Maltese Falcon, The Sting, Raiders of the Lost Ark, etc.
Spot: Dexter, Criminal minds / The Wire, I don't really know honestly.
Blink: Dexter, Criminal minds (similar to spot) / Mad Max, Guardians of the Galaxy, Scott Pilgrim, Back to the Future, etc.
Mush: Brooklyn 99, Big Bang Theory / Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Stand by Me, Friends, Seinfeld, Goonies, Lord of the Rings, etc.

Overall you can find interviews, performances, songs, bts etc all over YouTube and I recommend looking for them!!! You can also find explanation videos and things about Newsies itself.
Let me clarify that a lot of this might not make sense in the beginning but just stick with it and it will be very rewarding! At first don't stress too much over characters and trying to remember every little thing, just start basic and you'll start to learn more and more over time! Terms, phrases and words may be odd but try to figure out the context they're being used in and infer what they mean, and they'll get more understandable! Jokes will be unfamiliar and I'll try and link videos and things where these things may appear but try!
Again, don't feel bad for not knowing every term and joke, and don't worry about naming every Newsie ever either, everyone starts somewhere! You'll start to pick up on it over time and you just have to put yourself out there and consume media!!
Now I'll do my best to explain some things!
Some of the websites I linked have guides to characters or information and profiles about them! It will get easier to identify them and tell them apart as you delve into the fandom and media more! These pages have photos, (some) backstories, facts etc!!!
I also linked a website with some slang/terms used but watching the productions can help a lot in understanding and it will hopefully start to make more sense! Something else to note (sort of obvious) we add 'sies' to the end of a lot of things, for example; 92sies (1992 Newsies), livesies (2017 live/Broadway Newsies), UKsies (UK Newsies production but I don't know too much about it), fansies (fans of newsies) etc! I've also seen toursies but I'm not fully sure if it was to describe a certain cast or just performers touring in general?? But I have seen it briefly.
Side note: for some things I've seen in the fandom, you will start to see patterns and familiarity for things in posts, fics, etc and it will start to make sense the more you see it.
I'll explain some of the basic things I've seen around/I think are important for fans to know:
So there are the five boroughs in New York: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and Richmond borough! There were Newsies in all five historically! Mainly the story focuses on Manhattan and somewhat Brooklyn. Queens and the Bronx are mentioned and sort of seen but Richmond is not mentioned nor seen but there were Newsies from all over historically.
Younger kids/Newsies are often referred to as "littles"
Another thing that I've seen is people referring to Newsies with the terms "First" and "Second" and I'm pretty sure it's just a fandom thing? But for example Jack Kelly is commonly referred to as the "First of Manhattan" while Racetrack (typically) is referred to as the "Second of Manhattan". Same with Spot (First) and Hotshot (Second) of Brooklyn. Essentially the First is the leader of that borough and group of Newsies. The Second is the "co-leader", they're set to takeover when the First steps down (for whatever reason it may be). The Seconds support the First and help run and organize things and take over when the First is not present. Typical leader/co-leader dynamic and ideals so you get the gist
I think that's the main stuff??? I'm trying to think of more but I'm drawing a blank
Overall I think doing basic research will guide you! New York at that time, Newsies research, etc!!!
For other advice I don't really know how I learned everything?? Things just start to make sense eventually.
MORAL OF THE STORY IS TIME. EVERYTHING; TERMS, JOKES, WORDS, CHARACTERS, ETC WILL ALL GET EASIER AND EASIER TO COMPREHEND!!!
my main advice overall is:
Watch it a lot, you'll start to notice more and more each time. I'd recommend both versions but you can decide which you prefer and favor! Notice the smaller details by looking at the background, see a character you think is cool and read about them, etc.
Interact with the fandom and media; Pinterest, Tumblr, YouTube, TikTok, Wiki etc!! Read about it, watch it, etc just consume media, that's a big help!
Study character profiles/pictures and learn more about the broad range of Newsies! Learn the characters (doesn't have to be EVERY single one but the main ones or ones you want to know about) and search for stories, posts, videos, rants, HCS etc!!!!
Also read about the real 1899 strike, if history isn't your thing that's okay but I'd recommend it! Some of the characters were based off of real people and overall it's interesting to read about!!!
It's a lot and the beginning period is a little rough trying to catch up with everything, I've been in the fandom for a while and I'm still learning new things! Don't feel the need to know every detail, enjoy it and consume it as much as you want! Have fun and make it your own :) Newsies is an awesome media and topic to learn about and the fandom is lovely!!!
ALSO SORRY IF THIS ISN'T WHAT YOU WANTED, IF HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS OR MORE SPECIFIC THINGS IN MIND PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO ASK!!!
Thank you for the ask and have fun!!!!!!
also if anyone has anything to add in that I forgot please do!!!
HIIIII any oddly specific fun facts of ur newsies ocs that no one knows but you ?? :3
HIIII!!!! (I love your art btw)
I actually do!!! It's a lot of just random facts/HCS
GENERAL:
Only I know their real names
As kids they all shared a bunk, they could have slept more spaced out if they wanted but they all chose to cram into one bunk
Now Spitfire sleeps on the top bunk (he splays out and can’t sleep still to save his life) while Hawk and Bones sleep on the bottom bunk
Hawk and Bones are dating
When they were younger and first noticed Bones’s limp and the aches and persistent flares of pain he would get (chronic pain), they would offer their help, distractions and their company (they still do)
They will all go to the theater when they can (partly because Hawk asked them and because they enjoy seeing the performances)
Since Spitfire can’t read, Hawk and Bones will help him
Similarly to the above, since Hawk and Spitfire struggle with writing Bones will help them when they need it
They are very comfortable with each other and love physical touch; back pats, standing close, bumping/nudging, leaning on each other, and just general wrestling and casual touch
Spitfire:
Good at drawing
Can never find matching pairs of socks so he’s always wearing them mismatched
Slow at tying knots
Talented at different accents and voice impressions
Has a small necklace that he kept from his childhood that his mother wore
Does NOT like dogs and will jump out of skin if there is one around (he got attacked and bit by one as a kid and now has an intense fear of dogs)
Constantly forgetting to drink water (and sometimes eat)
His favorite colors are blue and red
Loves winter and summer
Hawk-eye:
Worst sleep schedule
Can't swim
Always VERY vocal; humming, squealing, clicking, etc.
Very good at picking locks
Really good hearing, he can pick out small noises and details
LOVES theaters and hanging around them, he dreams of being an actor
His favorite seasons are fall and spring
Knows the streets insanely well; has actually drawn routes and maps out and can effortlessly and quickly navigate them
He absolutely loves music and is always trying to see live performances
Enjoys high places like roofs and bridges
Bones:
Has a very goofy laugh (positive)
Can't whistle
Really good balance
Great memory and keeping track of things
With his literacy skills he often teaches or helps the other Newsies with reading/spelling (Hawk will sometimes help with the reading portion)
Allergic to nuts (especially peanuts)
He loves animals; horses, dogs, cats etc
Very good with needles; good with patches and mending clothes while also being good at medical stitches if needed
Hiii corey!!! I have to ask, now that I’ve seen Newsies, what do you like about Race? Like obviously he’s cool but what makes you gravitate towards him?? 👀📰
HIII!!
so I went a little crazy but I hope you enjoy! ALSO WARNING FOR NEWSIES 1992 AND BROADWAY (2017) SPOILERS!! I don't think they're too bad?? But still they are there
sorry if these seem random/repetitive, it's a few days worth of thoughts and rants
more under the cut
Okay to start when I first watched it I'm not sure what it was but I just kind of saw him and my brain decided he was the one
I think a big part of it is how much I can relate to him? I think I act a lot like he does and we have similar thought processes and speech and I think I really latched onto that. Also the fact I apparently have similar expressions, body language, etc so I think a lot of it is me relating and finding traits of myself in him personality wise too.
I also think it was general interest; he's always got a quip or comment to add and blurt out and his overall presence and attitude are noticeable and relatable
I think I mainly gravitate towards him out of everything because of relation, I usually fixate on characters I relate to on some level or another because I love having character I can see myself and take a level of I guess comfort or familiarity from that(?) which drives my interest for them
and now for what I like about race!!
literally everything, I feel like he can be dumbed down to being the "goofy" or "energetic" guy but I don't think certain people understand his character and underestimate or make him the stupider one in situations
He is a gambler, so he is going to have a certain skill set and range of traits and it will affect the way he thinks, perceives things and acts. He gambles and makes bets so he's going to be strategic and clever, probably thinking things through and running scenarios and possibilities through his mind. Essentially saying he's more witty and quick than people can make him seem. He is clever, he isn't dumb and he seems like he sees things differently and analyzes more than people give him credit for, he probably thinks all kinds of things through and maybe notices details or facts people wouldn't normally consider. For example, in 92sies when they're passing out the Newsies banner he is one of the only ones who asks if the people can read. Maybe I'm reading into it too much but I think it's a neat detail because everyone else just hands them out but he notices maybe some of them can't read and considers it enough to ask if they can or can't.
Back to him seeming clever; he makes a lot of quick comebacks or comments and maybe this is just him blurting things out but I like to think it's because he is a quick thinker, he processes and understands fast and can comeback at lightning speed. Not just with speech but I think he's just sharp and astute. An example is in the Broadway when he says "Hey, ain't we the hoi polloi?" when Les mentions having parents and hoi polloi is a Greek saying that means "the masses or common people" he likely means by this that the Newsies are the more "common" people for not having parents and maybe he is "less normal" or the odd one out for having parents. Essentially that's pretty damn smart and an interesting thing for him to pick up on throw out there.
Overall I think it's unfortunate how people can dumb him down and underestimate his character because is in fact very quick-witted, bright and can notice small details and things that others may not and good at picking up on things quickly. He's got a lot of layers and things that make him more complex and interesting as a character
I also like just his personality; his overall confidence along with his intense and unyielding loyalty to the Newsies. I love his sarcastic and quick humor and his overall presence, I love how he carries himself and acts, also him sticking his tongue out as much as he does (me core) is so great. And how he isn't afraid to stand up against someone (even if it isn't always the smartest choice) especially if it concerns the other Newsies, like when he tries to protect Medda at the rally (92sies) and there's little moments like that where he just shows his true dedication and comradeship for the people he cares about. HOWEVER he does seem to know when to consider backing down, while he isn't afraid to stand up against someone he also seems to know when to take a step back. I think he seems like he can be impulsive sometimes but also think it through and voice his opinions or thoughts (not sure how accurate this is but I noticed it a few times). I also love how he is unabashedly himself, he is confident and doesn't mind putting himself out there or being known and he's always cracking jokes or comments or hanging around with the other Newsies, I literally just love his energy and charisma he brings to the group.
Also something I thought of is just how much he loves the races and gambling. He is seen making references or normal comments but throwing or referencing something like "It's a rigged deck, they got all the marbles" and different things like that which he incorporates into his normal speech. Also in 92sies when Jack is coming back from dinner with the Jacobs, Race is arriving at the same time and he asks how his day at the track was meaning he basically spent his entire day in Brooklyn at Sheepshead. There are just a lot of little references, traits, etc that he incorporates his love for the races and gambling into regular things and I love that SO much
I'm also going to talk about another thing; so it's pretty obvious but I like talking about this. So obviously he gets his name "Racetrack" from his love of horse races and the racetrack and in King of New York (92sies) he sings the part "A permanent box at the Sheepshead races" which I looked into when I first got into Newsies and apparently it was a racetrack in Brooklyn so I started thinking about it; when they're at the distribution gate in the beginning of the '92 movie he is there with everyone, but when all the Newsies leave the gate and start to sell he isn't in the crowd anymore and I don't think he's in any scenes after he reviews the paper and passes Jack some money. My theory is he must have left earlier to start walking to get a head start to Brooklyn by the track (he probably sells there) so he could get there early enough to sell his papers and see the races later. Maybe I read too much into this and maybe he doesn't sell there and maybe he just was hidden in the crowd but it just makes sense in my mind I guess. And going back to what I mentioned earlier with him getting late, it's likely because the races are not that close and he stayed late at the track later. Jack mentions "how was your DAY at the track?" Meaning he spent the whole day there and not in Manhattan which also ties in my idea of him leaving the distribution gates earlier than everyone else. In my opinion this would explain little details and expand on his mention of the Sheepshead racetrack and overall this part of his character etc. ONCE AGAIN MAYBE I'M READING INTO IT TOO MUCH BUT THIS IS JUST MY THEORY AND THOUGHTS OFF THINGS I NOTICED
ALSO adding onto that, something I was sort of sad about was certain parts of him in the Broadway. In King of New York it's Romeo who sings the "permanent box" part which I think is maybe just because Race started the song but it still makes me sad they didn't keep that line for Race. Also I do think some of his lines referenced his love for gambling but it sort of felt like that element of his character wasn't fully there?? I am NOT saying his entire personality and life is gambling and horse races but I also just think it's a big part of his life, it's something he heavily enjoys doing and references and mentions and I wish it had been used a little more. HOWEVER I did love how they did other parts of his personality, speech etc and I just love Race so much in general.
Also more about his character and cleverness; I think I mentioned earlier that he must be perceptive and observant but I realized with gambling he probably is both of those things to an extreme. He is probably very good at telling things from body language, expressions, and small but giving details that betray people's emotions and thoughts and that make him aware of whatever it is. I think him being so quick at thinking, observant and understanding is really such a cool character trait and I LOVE RACETRACK!!!!
More on his personality; yes he is energetic, yes he is loud, yes he is playful but THIS DOES NOT MAKE HIM DUMB. I can't stress this enough, he is playful with the others and louder and confident but he is still perceptive and very quick-witted. He can be goofy and fun while also being smart and sharp.
Also I love his comfortableness with the others; like constantly bumping them, grabbing them, and roughhousing etc I love how wrestles and messes around with the older Newsies BUT also some of the younger or littler ones.
I love the idea of him being the second; he is very close to Jack and would honestly be a great first and second for Manhattan. He may not always be the best leader (but who is?) but he does have a sense of leadership, care and devotion to the other Newsies and a confidence and courageousness that could assist him in leading or at least helping and supporting the Newsies as he does already. I do think he is an excellent asset to the Newsies and might make a strong and good leader for the Newsies if it ever came to that
ALSO THE HISTORICAL SIDE!!! Ed "Racetrack" Higgins was a real Newsie and the leader of the Brooklyn newsboy union for the 1899 strike. His name came from his love of horse races and gambling and he frequently visited the Sheepshead races. He was known for charisma and humor, as well his many references to horses in his speechs. He was actually elected vice president for the general union after other leaders accused of selling out. He was very well liked and respected, seen as a natural leader, leading with both charm and tenderness (especially with younger newsboys, there is actually a newspaper column talking about Racetrack being seen interacting kindly and tenderly with and I think it's mentioned it may have been his little brother??).
"Their incessant conversation revealed numerous amusing and pathetic phases of the strike. But it was when Higgins spoke that every word was worth listening to. He seems to be a born leader of boys, and may yet be of men." This is just so cool and interesting to me that he was so highly respected and intensely loyal
Overall Racetrack is an extremely interesting and cool character (and person) with an intriguing personality, incredible historical elements and so many cool traits and facts that just make him one of my favorite characters!!!!!
OH MY GOS YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY THIS JUST MADE ME???? I NEEDED THIS SO BAD OH MY GOD THANK YOU HOLDEN I LOVE YOU /p!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR ART IS SO COOL TOO HELLO???

You were walking into your room looking for your… magazines when all of a sudden a man jumped out from behind a door in a robe and a newsie cap while holding a knife… right before you could react the man acted quickly stabbing you. Before you passed out from blood loss you heard “goodbye victim #15, you won’t be missed”
