Teeka Pastel on paper 11″x14″ www.rachaelpilon.com --- A portrait of my sister Amelia’s dog, Teeka. To prove what a special princess this dog is, I’m showing her pastel portrait with a photo from a few years back of Amelia carrying her like an overgrown kitten for the approach on a climbing excursion in Ontario. Poor baby Teeka was afraid to walk over the big scary boulders!
FOR SALE Untitled Pastel on paper 11″x14″ www.rachaelpilon.com --- The reference for this piece has been sitting on my computer tormenting me for the last few years and I'm so happy to have finally put it to rest. It also excites me as sort of a cheeky foreshadowing for some upcoming news that I am not quite ready to share just yet. Please contact for sale details.
“The Girlies” Pastel on oaoer 16″x20″ www.rachaelpilon.com --- It’s been an absolute dream to have had the privilege of painting not only one gorgeous mare, but three! This commissioned piece has been sent to Rebecca in Ontario, owner of Talulah, Bronze and Gabby.

So many thanks to Carina Maiwald for her beautiful work in photography which she kindly allowed for me to reference for this piece. I can't say enough about her work, she does such an incredible job. Please go look at her work!

It feels a little like I’m coming around the home stretch of my first year of school in Calgary. I was thinking about all the things that have happened since the summer and it blew my mind how much has been going on! I’m not usually one for #throwbackthursday, but who doesn’t want to throw back to Glacier National Park, Montana? Fact: I’m returning to Ontario for a few weeks at the end of May. Portrait shoot anyone?
Goober Schmoober Goober Doober Boobers Pastel on paper 11"x14" www.rachaelpilon.com --- I moved away from Nomi (aka Goober Schmoober Goober Doober Boobers) in September. It was devastating. To fill the gaping hole in my heart, I commissioned myself to make a portrait her.
Chloe Pastel on paper 11"x14" www.rachaelpilon.com --- It has been such a pleasure working on Jaye Tatone's portrait of her gorgeous lady, Chloe. This experience has been nothing but perfect, between referencing Jaye's incredible photography, having such an expressive model and constantly reminiscing about my own time spent years ago with this truly special mare. I am really looking forward to passing Chloe's portrait on, but I know I'll miss working on this one like crazy.

After a crazy day of sunburns, quarantine showers, our horse being held for ransom, and of course, ice cream, Scout is settled into his new home. Around Christmas, I had completed two portraits of Scout for my two sisters. I had been waiting to get some full body photo references for my own piece for when he had shed out his winter coat. Turns out, last-minute evacuation day happened to be the best day for it! I’m really looking forward to getting his final portrait underway, and it will be nice to be working on it with the peace of mind that comes with knowing your horse is happy and cared for under responsible management.
My cat, Nomi, is just incredible. She knows it.
