if assassin's apprentice is a map of all the ways in which fitz is lonely, and then royal assassin is a foray into how unloveable he truly believes he is, then the last third book, assassin's quest, is a lesson in everything love can achieve. and what a beautiful, triumphant ending, even when at times bittersweet.

I can't believe how much of ass quest is the fool getting sick, the fool passing out, fitz tugging blankets around the fool, fitz bridal carrying the fool, the fool deliriously nuzzling into fitz's shoulder, fitz tenderly attending to the fool to the point that kettricken has to scold him for cleaving the group with his obvious favoritism. I write whump fanfic and even I have more chill than this. it's great.
