The art Steve R Dodd gave us in 2025. Can’t wait for his 2026 output to start flowing!
2025
I want to say that it was a good year. It was also extremely tumultuous, but perhaps those things aren’t mutually exclusive. In a strange way, I’m grateful and happy for all of the things, good and bad, that happened this year. I became a parent for the first time, then I was no longer a parent, then at the very end, before the close of the year, I became a parent yet again.
Even though it was extremely stressful, and maybe even one of the most stressful years of my life, at least I’m able to say I got through it–we got through it–and with it, gained a lot of new perspective. I guess in my own way, I was resilient, even though I failed at it so many times.
At the very least, I feel like I tried to process my feelings more and to share them more openly, as best as I could. I want to say that I grew up, however gingerly, despite my best efforts to resist it. I’m being only slightly facetious.
With this new year ahead of us and all that it promises, I just hope that I continue growing and changing. I hope I continue to try to understand myself, my partner and the people around me, and I hope that I have the courage to face whatever changes continue to come my way, despite how hard and scary that may be.Â
Anyway, I’m sure I’ll have more reflections in the days and weeks to come. But for now, thanks, 2025.Â
Goodbye.
