In 2009-ish, I started posting outfit photos to my Tumblr. The plus size fashion community was gaining momentum, and I brought my lil self into the fold with some South Asian flair. While I’m very much removed from the blogging scene nowadays, putting together “outfit posts” is still a creative outlet for me.

Once, to prove a point to my male friends about how it's not nice to get cat-called in public, I "cat-called" some random dude.
He was crossing the street and I yelled HEY YOU, NICE JEANS!!
He was like WHAT??
And I was like YOU LOOK GOOD IN THOSE JEANS!!
Then he was like WOW THANKS WAIT RIGHT THERE.
He crossed the street towards us, and was like "Im not used to girls being this forward with me, what's your name, maybe we can get a drink some time??"
My experiment failed.

Me: I'm okay. I woke up this morning and realized I ran out of clean socks so I went to the pharmacy and picked some up but they only had specialty orthopaedic ones for like $18 dollars but I bought them anyways cause I hate doing laundry. Also I was gonna take a shower today but there was a spider in the tub so I decided against it.
What do you want Muslims to apologize for?
Why would Muslims, as a population of approximately 1.6 billion people, apologize for the actions of a fraction of individuals they have zero correlation with, where no fundamentalist opinions or worldviews are shared, are in no way related to, identify or empathize with?
Why would Muslims apologize for those that, in addition to targeting the “western world”, are targeting (their own) Muslim communities, countries and people - including the most sacred and significant sites of pilgrimage - and that, during the Holiest month year.
People that commit such atrocities do not feel accountable to anyone, and clearly by their actions, its an extremely illogical leap to assume they genuinely and truly feel accountable to a God or higher power of any sort.
Apologies don't mean shit when there's no reason to apologize.
When men of colour have strong words for women of their own race for dating white dudes calling them race betrayers and shit but literally only ever date white chicks themselves and spend all damn day reblogging white women and liking white women's photos 🙄
Plus size representation is more important than ever and rightly so. Intersectionality is not just a pretty catchphrase. I remember having a conversation with my friend Ragini Nag Rao (fellow plus size South Asian blogger with a whimsical fashion palette) about 2 years ago, feeling a little despondent about the South Asian diaspora’s unrealistic standards …

- you don’t date people of your own race because you’re “not attracted to them” - you don’t wear condoms, even if there is no other form of contraception, because they don’t “feel good” - you’re not a feminist because you “don’t know enough about it” or you “don’t hate men” - you don’t vote because “all politicians/parties are the same” - you think abortion should be available, but “only in certain circumstances” - you think social assistance shouldn’t be widely available because “people should get jobs” and “stop being lazy” instead
