an absolutely raw piece of dialogue from deltarune chapter 3
(this is to kris too)
hmmm.... HMMMMM......
So. I'm not the biggest deltarune fan there is, but it's hard for me to not wonder about just how important the theme of nostalgia was for this chapter. The seven flowers as humans with their Undertale attack sprites/patterns, Asgore as King, MewMew as the secret boss... but also Garden of Hopes and Dreams, Flowery presenting himself as "Asgore's friend from college" and Kris/Asgore reminiscing on how everything was were before *the thing* happened.
I've heard of "every deltarune chapter focuses on some sort of control" theory, but what about... every chapter focuses on some escapism method? Isn't this theme possible, considering the traumatic unspoken of chain of events at the center of deltarune and how the Dreemurr and Holliday families (if not the entire town) would want to just... escape the thoughts? Forget themselves? Either through games, the internet, television, religion, and now nostalgia?
Does this make sense?
I didn't want to include this as a good faith argument for this theory because we don't even know what Toby was talking about here, but I feel like it deserves a mention anyway. Re: this Toby tweet. A lot of people have been theorizing that this is about Omori. Although we don't know for sure, this would make sense with that I've already brought up. The Headspace in Omori is the way for Sunny to escape the thoughts and the aftermath of his family tragedy - something very similar to what seems to be happening in deltarune.
very, very interesting.
