It is innermost layer of the eye ball.

It contains 2 aub-layer.

An outer layer of pigment cells lying immediately after the choroid.

Rods

1-Rods

It contains visual purple which can distinguish various degrees of light and darkness.

The shape of rods are cylindrical.

Each eye contains 100 million of rods.

2-cones

It is concerned other colour vision.

The shape of cons are pyramidal.

It's shape vary in different part of retina.

Each eye contains about 7 million cones.

Working of eye

Eye is work for see a object.

WhenThe light rays reflected from an object it pass through the conjunctiva, then cornea and pupil.

In this pupil before falling on the biconvex lens.

In this time pupil is enlarge or diminished.

Beacause size of the pupil determine the amount of light that will enter into the eye ball.

Pupil is enlarge when intensity of light is low.

Pupil is diminished when the intensity of light is high. Nest work working of eye.

After reflected rays from pupil then light rays are focused on the retina by the biconvex lence.

In this time sharp inverted image is formed on the retina.

This inverted retinal image is carried by the optic norve to the brain where it is being interpreted.

After that eye can see the image by changing the curvature of lens.it is called power of accommodation of eye.

Working of eye to a distance object and near object

When distance object are viewed, in this condition the lence is kept flattened by the suspensory ligaments.

Then inverted image is formed on the retina.

When near object are viewed, the lens becomes more complex by the activities of the ciliary muscles, the curvature of the lens is reduced, pupil contracts.

Then inverted image of the object is formed on the retina.
