Purchasing Power: Black Kids and American Consumer Culture 1st Edition by Elizabeth Chin
An exposé of the realities facing poor black children in our consumer socieity.
What does it mean to be young, poor, and black in our consumer culture? Are black children “brand-crazed consumer addicts” willing to kill each other over a pair of the latest Nike Air Jordans or Barbie backpack? In this first in-depth account of the consumer lives of poor and working-class black children, Elizabeth Chin enters the world of children living in hardship in order to understand the ways they learn to manage living poor in a wealthy society.

Hey vegan family! Episode 11 of “Yes, I Cook” is up! I show you how I made the cake featured in my last post!(link to my channel is up in my bio⬆) Double layered chocolate-chocolate chip cake with a light buttercream frosting.😊 Here, I share with you my experience using coconut flour for the first time #struggle lol. I ended up saving my cake and it came out yummy! In the future I will perfect the texture of the cake by using less flour and tweaking a few more things. Remember to make every mistake a lesson learned! Have a great day everyone, and see you in the next post!

Good Morning Vegan Family!! 🌿Haven’t had myself a bowl of oatmeal in a while 😊. This morning I made myself some vanilla #glutenfree rolled oats. For added sweetness, I topped it off with some fruit, almonds and shredded coconut . ✨ This is so tasty and is definitely keeping me warm on this cold morning ❄. Hope you all have a great day!😉 #vegan #veganoatmeal #veganbreakfast #hearty #blueberry #almond #cinnamon #shreddedcoconut #banana #veganlife #morning #anise #fruit #oatmeal #morning #gluten free #sweetvegan #vegannyc #winter food #NYC #blackvegan #doosenyc #breakfast #soyfree
