“I used to say it was a pipe dream but now we’re doing it so I guess we’ve done it. It was always a dream that Mia had. I have little to nothing to do with the bar. I’m literally just the pianist. People say ‘oh that can’t be. You’re the actor. You must have had a strong hand. To be crass and talk about money for a second - You know I put so much of what I make back into my personal projects so you know I was like clamouring - ‘how am I going to help with this bar?’ - So it’s mostly Mia because I’m running around and spinning all these other plates. And this was something that - you know, she comes from a venue family - her father and uncle - She grew up in bars and venues. So it was always something she wanted to do. And she always wanted to call it ‘Tramp Stamp Granny’s’. I have a personal history with piano bars. We, Mia and I, share a history of loving piano bars in New York and San Francisco. It was always something we wanted to bring to Los Angeles. At least the kind of piano bar that we’re interested in. The old adage of if you build it, they will come. It’s been really true. It’s been a delight this past month to see the kind of folks that show up and tell us how much they’ve really been longing for a place like Tramp Stamp Granny’s…. People gather - it’s like our living room at home. For the longest time, at the end of every party, we’d end up at our house - and it’d be me on the piano or guitar leading a sing-a-long. And after how many dollars of alcohol later, and broken glasses - Mia and I said, you know, we should probably start charging for this (laughs) - So that was the reason we finally went into first gear with opening this bar and she’s done a really magnificent job. I wish I could take more credit but I’m just the pianist. It was her vision and it really does look and feel really beautiful and the dream she always had. And we’re so proud to share it with people.”
— Let’s go back to the piano bar - that sounds like a fun thing to do? (via gleekto)
