With a liking for the color azure and a passion for a particular blonde Vocaloid that introduced him to the popular synthetic musical trend, this cosplayer-photographer hybrid first stepped into the world of cosplay with the help and push of a friend from his high school known on deviantArt as xDragonBladex. He would then awaken his interest in photography after getting a red-colored Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 body from the legendary Akihabara during a trip in Tokyo, Japan. He would cosplay as his favorite characters regardless of their gender and would try his hardest to make his fellow cosplayer brethren appear good in his photos of them. He can also be found as part of the staff of Mission Start Podcast and a contributor for the Cardfight!! Vanguard-centric blog, Trigger Capital! It would not be surprising to find him playing some trading or collectible card games at your local hobby shop, by the way. First of all, I want to say I'm grateful for having 600 followers and counting on this platform! I really appreciate the support! That said, a recent hashtag on Twitter by the name #cosplayersunder1k started to get me thinking: Is there something I can to improve my numbers? While we cosplayers and other hobbyists who have an online presence do our best to promote the notion of enjoying these hobbies regardless of how many Likes and followers you end up getting because they are fun ventures for us to indulge in from time to time while we are not busy with work and other real life priorities, we also inherently, for better or worse, play the numbers game because our notifications, insights, and the numbers attached to our posts and profiles are always there every time we access these platforms to look at and create posts. To be honest, I sometimes feel lowkey embarrassed that I got into the hobby in 2011, but I have several peers who started as early within this past year who have managed to attain a bigger and more active following than I have managed to acquire across my main platforms of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter! Don't get me wrong: I am very much happy for them, and I'm not truly salty or anything of that sort! While I do appreciate the idea of "X under 1k" hashtags to help promote and elevate users who have more modestly sized followings, they also bring a harsh reminder that as long as we continue to operate on social media, numbers will continue to be there. It is ultimately up to us as individual users on such platforms as to how we want to interpret such figures and follow through!
