Look, I’m incredibly sad that the Notre Dame burned down but raising 300+ millions of euros for a building when there’s people with no clean water or access to medical care, homeless people, and people dying at war zones is so hypocritical and so Eurocentric and white-centric and it makes me so fucking mad and frustrated bc I know for a fact that y’all wouldn’t even raise a cent for the Jerusalem mosque that burned down or for so many other places and people just bc they’re not in Europe/North America and that’s a fact.

i said this in another post but imma say it again. everyone knows there are horrible things happening everyday, we just can’t care about all of it. i mean i agree with what you’re saying - people need to care more about things bc nothing is going to improve otherwise, but you can’t blame the general public for caring about what’s close to them?? of course people are going to be centred around events that happen near them - they are near it. we can’t care about everything all the time cause we’d go mad. believe me, i can’t function on days cause i’m just thinking about all the terrible things happening every second. the general public just doesn’t have the time or energy to put into all of these events tho bc they have their own lives to lead. you can’t be a douche about people being human

I totally agree with what you’re saying and I apologize if I came on too strong on the subject. However I don’t blame the general public for the money that was donated (which is now at 1 billion apparently). The donations were made mostly by private companies and businesses. Also, there were a lot of people (specifically non-Europeans) who were supposedly so concerned with the damage done at the church that they talked of starting a like gofundme thing for donations which I just find weird. But then again maybe I’m the weird one? idek what to think anymore…
