Cecilia Levy Creates Impressive Paper Eggshell-Thin Cups & Saucers
Composed of vintage paper, Swedish artist Cecilia Levy creates 2D tools into impressive 3D sculptures in the form cups, saucers, bowls and plates. To complete one piece Levy takes apart books, magazines and comics and gradually pieces them back together. Although her work appears fragile she admits: that her works “eggshell thin, yet remarkably steady. The story lives on, but in a different shape.”
A former graphic designer with bookbinding skills, Levy has been experimenting with paper sculptures since 2009. From 2013, she began to work as a full-time paper artist. Her work is exhibit both abroad and in Sweden.
Cecilia Levy’s background is in graphic design and bookbinding, but began to experiment with dissecting books to produce different shapes in 2009. Since 2013 Levy has worked full time as a paper artist, exhibiting her work in both Sweden and abroad. You can find more of her stunning work on her website and Etsy.
