Venice is an enchanting city that casts visitors under an intoxicating spell. It’s dreamy and romantic, with an undercurrent of mystery and drama. And while Carnival is only once a year, its mood is present year-round. The Grand Canal is the centre of activity, with gondoliers singing to the passengers in their boats. The magnificent Piazza Sam Marco is another must-see hub. Along the winding streets you’ll find stylish cafes and gelaterias, souvenir shops and small businesses, plus …

me to myself: be calm

if my kids ever tell me they’re bored imma hit them with “back in 2020….”

“ مُثقَلون، وكأن كل جبال هذا العالم ترسي فوق مناكبنا .”
كُن لها السند، تكن لكَ المأوي
Be her support, she would be your shelter.
English can never do Arabic justice. The word المأوي is translated as shelter, but it’s so much deeper than that- it is closer to your haven, your hearth, your asylum. It comes from the root word “mawee” which means to harbor, and was used in times of war to relate that if your ship was brought to our shores it would be harbored safely and peacefully. Furthermore “mawee” shares a prefix with the word “ma’a” which means water- the most essential element of life.
Now, go back read the quote, and tell me what a woman is to the man who supports her.
