Please don’t make gifs of fanvideos.
You know edit makers always talk about reposting and how much we hate when other people do it to us. Yet they go around and do the same thing to someone else.
This is the reality and it’s like this with fanart as well. Unless you get permission from the artist to post the content they created then you are stealing.
With fanart you have to show a screenshot of the artist giving you permission to post their work. It can’t just be a simple credit line cause the artist may not know you posted their art on your blog or they may not want their art reposted anywhere but where they posted it themselves.
With stuff like this video, you need to get permission from the artist to post.

This was not made by Nickelodeon or the creators. This was made by a group of fans.
This was called fan art by the creator.
So when you make a gif set of that video without permission by the artist that is reposting their work and stealing.
I am part of the anime community so I know how serious it is to make sure artists get the credit and you need to make sure you protect yourself and your blog.
I DM’d the artist and asked them if people asked him for permission to make gifs/edits of his work and he said he never received permission from anyone to make any gifs of his work and he said he was going to going to look into ways of taking the posts down.
Because he is the artist that created this fan art he can go to Tumblr and fill out a DMCA form very easily.

Tumblr will look into it and I’ve seen this happen many times they won’t just delete the post they’ll terminate the blog because Tumblr has a zero tolerance policy for stealing. Even if you don’t think what you did is stealing, it was. This was not made by Nickelodeon or anyone affiliated with Avatar. This was a fan project.
It is very important that people realize what risks there are when you create edits from fan projects without the artists permission. Please be wary next time to protect yourself and your blog.
