Of poverty. From the perspective of a spoiled, selfish white girl. Poverty is fluxuation, instability, and inconsistency. Poverty is a constantly sore back but unable to pinpoint exact cause. Its not knowing if dinner will be frozen, canned, or fast food. Provided by a stamp or a check. I wont be vulgar and suggest appropriating intense scarcity. There was always something on the table. But the difference between a nice restaurant one week and a frozen dinner the next cant be ignored. Frequent complaints of dissatisfaction were the norm, because of feelings of betrayal and confusion. The manifestations are more permanent than scars, and are not always visible. The frenzy of insatiability would drive someone to smash the Mirror of Erised, with few regrets. Achievement & satisfaction ungraspable, did the Stones grow up poor... Everything has a price tag attached, values are skewed. Wanting to be attached to everything and nothing all at once. Wanting to stay glued or cut tethering bonds & fly free. Different levels of poverty will always be, and poverty will always be inside me.
