For angels it wasâŠdifferent.Â
âI can honestly say I donât know.â She sighed, voice just above a whisper as she leaned back letting her head rest against him as he held her again. âThe angels I know like me havenât been fortunate to escape Heavenâs watches often. The angels that do hide away never to be seen lest they too get caught. Thereâs no one like me toâŠwell too know what happens? Itâs like reading a book where you know some of the story and plot but much more of it is redacted and you have to guess your way about it.âÂ
The mention of a kinder, less troublesome fiance had her smiling, eyes moving to glance up at the elegant face beside her somewhat amused, somewhat in disbelief.Â
âOh Adar I canât imagine you being kept out of trouble. It seems to amuse you especially when you taught at the academy. Donât think I didnât hear whispers of your days in the teachers room slowly stirring the pot to see what would happen. I do think that fiance was probably what you needed to know both sides of the coin. Kind and caring, versus the wild and free who stole your heart later.âÂ
âDoes it scare you? Not knowing the story or the plot... Having to really light the path in the darkness yourself, as it were? I find you brave, Jieun - I do not think there is much braver than what you do every morning, choosing to open up to others over and over again even if you might get hurt.â
He stared down at her for a long moment, lips curled at the corners in an answering smile, something going soft in his gaze. It wasnât as if he would ever admit to it, but he did like being her... adar, of sorts, of the same kind of bond he had with his other half-adopted daughter. Ruivion could count on the fingers of one hand the amount of people he would willingly visit this realm for, and Jieun was one.
âWe do have fun, that dragon and I. I would be bored, if he wasnât there. I hope you have fun, too, darling, with this man of yours. With whomever you see fit to share your time with.â
Jieun was warm, pressed to his side, and he drew her in a little closer so he could rest his cheek on her hair and press a kiss to her temple. She smelt faintly of something floral, the scent reminding him in roundabout circles of their days spent bickering in hospitals, and then of his home, and then...
âAh.â He paused, and chuckled. âI am in love, after all. Did you know?âÂ
