Module 12 - Best of CEID100 Inforgraphic
Key Healthcare Innovations to Watch | Piktochart Visual Editor
Module 11
CEID100, Digital Skills and Innovation teaches our generation, who are surrounded by the constant development of technology on what we should be aware of when exploring the internet and what occurs while surfing through certain websites or social media platforms.
Module 3 had the most impact on me, it made me be more cautious about exploring websites. Exploring a variety of websites on FireFox while using Disconnect, made me witness a shocking appearance of other third-party trackers trying to collect my data or witness my activity. New websites like the Toronto Star which I thought would be one of the safer websites, had the most third-party trackers trying to collect some of my data.
Module 6 explains the ethics of photoshop, the use of edited images and deepfakes. The module demonstrates the negative societal effects these tools may have. Many edits, thumbnails, and appearances posted by influencers or celebrities, builds high societal expectations in which it is not due to the extensive use of photoshop and image editing. Many YouTubers create thumbnails to be visually appealing to increase the number of clicks on their video. Many of the images are clickbaited which leads to one of Module 10 discussions.
Finally, Module 7 talks about cybercrime, cybersecurity, data leaks etc. I figured that most of the course talks about online safety, and how the internet could have a mental toll on us mentally, cybercrime takes a huge part in this.
Module 9 - Ghosts in the Machine
Hello, this is Rushani. As a newly Chief Technology Officer, I would like to proudly announce my new Start-up company, âMapAudioâ. âMap Audioâ consists of wireless earphones that assist visually impaired individuals to get to their desired destination, without needing the assistance of a human to guide them.
AI is one of the major tools that would be used for this product. An Ai robot will be communicating with the user, mainly focusing on getting them to their destination. The artificial intelligence will keep track of the userâs location, and have access to all kinds of data similar to how Google Maps is aware of, or have access to all locations. The earphones have a built-in mic and audio, allowing individuals to easily communicate with the AI robot. Saying code words like, âHello Mapâ, or âMap Assistanceâ, causes the AI to be in contact and ask the individual to state their destination. The Ai can easily detect the location of the individual and find the desired destination, nearest to them. The Ai then provides specified directions to the user, for example âwalk straight for 1kmâ, âturn left and walk straightâ, etc. The AI robot will give detailed assistance that is easy for visually impaired individuals to follow. Some AI applications included in this device include computer vision and forecasting based on the data Google and Google Maps provides. The AI will have access to where traffic lights are located and notify the user of any severe weather conditions.
Module 7 - Nova Cybersecurity Game
My 30 minutes of playing the Nova Cybersecurity Game was quite fun and I was hoping to progress more into the game but unfortunately, I had some trouble with the coding challenge as it was not letting me drag the codes into the dedicated box to proceed.Â
Based off of the details of the game and first few minutes of playing it, I have learned the concept of identifying whether an email or a website is a âscamâ or a way for hackers to gather my information. Iâve learned what key points to look for in an email or a URL link to determine whether it is real or not. It has also shown me how easy it is for hackers to guess passwords, especially those that are not as complicated. It shows the importance of using complicated letters and symbols for your passwords and to not use common words for your passwords, to prevent hackers from easily guessing your passwords.Â
This game helps people understand the dangers of the internet and how to stay safe.Â
CEID100 - Module 5 Misinformation, Mal-information and Disinformation
Misinformation:
https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSm6PJS51/
The video above is more on the âunseriousâ side which represents misinformation. This video from 10-13 years ago has been brought back, in which many viewers have been making memes about. Many people, including me, thought this performance video happened recently, until I heard from a friend that this video is really old. Many old videos like this, including news related articles/posts have been brought back many times and reposted, causing many people like me, to believe that it is current news. Looking through comments, viewing the other posts that account has posted and external research can help rule out whether the video is providing misinformation.
Mal-Information
https://www.instagram.com/p/DGwDHl1S_E5/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
This instagram post represents a mix of both, disinformation and mal-information, As Russia has never bombed South Carolina, and even if they did, the âWorld War IIIâ comment on this post is over exaggerated, and can scare many people, especially those who have constant fear on what Russia and Ukraine is going through. Since this post often creates âfake newsâ, viewing the accounts content and reading through comments will help verify whether the content is true or not.
Disinformation:
https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSm6ajndA/
This video represents disinformation which involves the use of Ai. Tik Tok did not specifically state that this video contains Ai, however, the other videos posted under the video involve Ai content. Creating a machine that could decorate a personâs hair involves research and thorough planning.
CEID100 - Module 3
I have explored a huge variety of websites through FireFox using the extension, Disconnect. 2 Civic/non-commercial, 2 e-commerce, 2 news and 2 social media websites were required for me to explore to compare the level of third-party tracking requests placed into these websites.
Out of the eight websites I've visited, The Toronto Star, a news article website seems to have the most third-party "intruders". The graph on disconnect continued to increase, which I found terrifying as I thought all of my personal data is being collected along with my exploration on this website. I expected e-commerce websites like, Amazon or SHEIN to have more third-party trackers as it may be a useful marketing strategy but unfortunately, I was wrong.
