Most nights at work were gratifying and even fun for Mariku. Tonight however, it seemed that whatever could go wrong, was absolutely going wrong.
Issues with the lights. Issues with music not playing at the correct times. Some rowdy, upper crust collage boys that never dealt with consequences causing problems with other guests. Ect....
It was all leaving Mariku wish a building migraine.
The blonde sat at his vanity in the dancers room back stage. leaning back fully in his chair, he slide open one of the drawers and pulled out a neat and tightly wrapped blunt. Not a second thought about simply lighting up right there and taking a deep pull from it to fill his lungs.
A couple of his colleagues sauntered by, teasing him in passing about smoking inside, to which he simply responded by blowing smoke in their direction. The action came off playful and light. Tough he could not stop himself from setting his jaw in annoyance once they were out of sight.
Clawed digits came up to massage his temple and forehead slowly. A small, sad attempt at soothing his growing headache. Doing his best to ignore the sound of footsteps growing closer. He knew just by the gate, exactly who it was. Making no move to put out his medicine. The other knew better.
"What is it now, Hitoshi... as I'm sure you're well aware, tonight's been a bitch. I'm taking off early." Mariku's voice was even but still holding an edge of annoyance to it. Still respectful to his boss. But clearly voicing his displeasure.
Mariku wasn't even facing the older man but he could sense the nervous energy in the air. An indication the other was about to ask him for something. Great...
Mariku was the most popular dancer at their establishment with both men and women. He brought them a large chunk of their revenue. Being in such a position had its perks... like being able to push back on things the blonde wasn't interested in.
"Ah, Mariku... it's just that well.... there's a customer that's requesting you, specifically." The older mans voice wavered slightly. Mariku was finally turning his head at that to make eye contact, narrowing his eyes. Clearly not what he wanted to hear as he started to part his lips, though Hitoshi interjected.
"They really wanted to see you."
Mariku cocked his head at this, lips parting yet again as his eyes flashed with defiance. Ready to snap back with a 'You better be fucking joking', before he was cut off yet again. Lavender eyes rolling as he pressed his tongue into his inner cheek. Lifting his blunt to take another hit.
"Y-you know tonight's been slow... with all the issues. besides, I know you love getting the extra tips! they promised to pay extra just for you."
".... Fine." Was all Mariku said. Ignoring Hitoshi's 'thank you's' and turning back to his vanity with an exaggerated sigh. This person had better be worth it.
