hello one and all, it is me, su, rolling in very late to the party with my beloved ex-murderer child byun ryuhwan. here are links to his longer biography, plots page, and a bit of misc stuff. you can find a slightly shorter version of all three under this read more! i prefer plotting on discord for memeing purposes (you can find me at kiss kiss fall in louvre#1720) but tumblr im’s are good as well :)
☾*✧･ﾟ:*「 jung hoseok. cismale. he/him. 」did you know that there’s a human in seoul named byun ryuhwan? they have been here for the past three months and they are a hunter. they are currently twenty-nine and were a part of the ju jak. i heard that they are known to be belligerent, but worry not ! i heard they are also very impartial too. ( su, 23, she/her, gmt+8)
ryu’s born to a long line of renowned hunters: the byuns are known for being absolutely ruthless and their family weapon of choice is a slightly modified gut hook knife. ryu's knife is a little smaller, with a rosewood handle that has his name on it.
he was forced to train since he was 10, and he made his first human kill at age 13. the byuns have a tradition of tattooing their kills, to mark them, and he chose notches as his shape, lined up neatly on his back.
when he quit the whole ju jak business, at a ripe old age of 28, he ended up with around six and a half lines, which adds up to hundred odd kills.
he’s fallen in love in his life twice - both with magi, ironically enough. the first is yoojoon, a childhood friend and neighbour, and the second is a healer who he ended up seeking help from time and again.
the healer was a good person, who managed to ground ryuhwan and teach him between right and wrong, all while patiently patching him up. things were very serious and they had been considering marriage when the ju jak got to ryu’s fiancee first.
hence how ryu ends up in haneul - he’s had his heart broken one too many times and he’s taken on his partner’s death as a personal responsibility; him paying for his sins in a way. he’s opened up a little dojang where he teaches taekwando and different levels of self-defense!
he hasn’t quit assassin jobs completely - he’s pretty good at finding out information so he does part-time private investigating work, digging up dirt on anyone who has a reputation of being a little too loose with knifes/magic.
possible connections.
the one who keeps him in check -> he’s spent a lot of his years completely alone so he’s not very used to having someone around him constantly. after the death of his partner, he’s probably been prone to picking up terrible habits, and probably needs a friend who can call him out when he strays too far.
old ghosts -> anyone who might have been related to his partner, a magi healer. anyone who might have known him when he was still a kid, barely struggling to hold a knife.
dojang partners/students -> anyone who is interested in funding ryu’s little dojang or being an instructor/class coordinator or students! ryu’s a patient and capable teacher and he’ll love to teach your muses how to put someone in a choke hold.
ex ju jaks -> people who are on his trail perhaps, trying to ease him out of early retirement? ju jaks who’ve heard his reputation and want to get rid of him because he knows too many secrets?
hyeon mus/duellists -> in his time as an assassin, ryu would have without a doubt stumbled upon many a duellists and/or members of hyeon mu. news of ryu’s retirement would have spread amongst the hyeon mu as well and it’ll be interesting to see how they respond to it :>
